Agentic trading, which connects AI agents directly to brokerage accounts, is democratizing investment by making trading approachable and fun for anyone, regardless of technical expertise, potentially multiplying trading volume for brokers like Robinhood by 100x and creating a cultural shift where millions of retail investors can participate in equity markets through automated agents that handle research, monitoring, and execution.

AI will be Bigger for Robinhood Thank Anyone Thinks (Chris Camillo & Amit)
Added:mentioned which was the connection now with you know Robin Hood's offering it public's offering it I could see more brokerages rolling out agentic trading that connects to your claude or your chat GPT whatever it is within there that has become a big thing I mean do you think that's going to pull a lot of retail into what we're talking about here because I think that that's like the natural onboarding yeah I think it's a really big opportunity for uh the brokerages to be able to adopt I think Vlad knows this which is why they've been really quick to kind of get this stuff out into the market I think the bigger issue with this is going to be education because like you can set up an agent and it can do a couple trades for you, but like the ability for the agent to meaningfully architect results that would replace your full-time trading or option selling or stuff like that. Like having the trust for an agent to do it, it's important because you know the the exchanges make money off trading volumes. So they need to make the volumes continue to be high, but people are not going to let agents trade for them if they don't think the agents are good enough at doing it. So, uh, yeah, I think it's going to be really exciting for a lot of retail investors to see what it looks like, but I don't know if it replaces retail fully automating their trading yet until they know exactly if it's effective, which as Chris said, we don't have the answers on, you know, does the arbitrage that these agents find, are they effective yet?
>> Yeah, >> I'm I'm going to let me challenge one piece of what Amit said right there.
Historically, technical trading historically at scale has never worked at scale for investors, >> right? And it has not stopped technical traders from that world growing and growing and growing over the last 30 or 40 years. Even though these guys are basically making market returns or less uh and paying a lot of money for subscriptions to all types of technical trading platforms and all the stuff that they do. So historically the mindset that would be willing to embrace something like technical trading for more than a month uh it's a very tiny fraction of humans because it is kind of boring and kind of weird and you have to have a certain like your brain has to work a certain way to like have fun doing that. So normally most people they they they think they can make a bunch of money technical trading. They buy some course, they do the stuff for a month, then like I don't really enjoy this and they're out. Now, agentic trading totally different. Agentic trading is something that is so approachable. It's so fun.
>> Uh you don't have to be have a math head. You don't have to be have like a technically oriented uh thinking style.
Like >> anyone can do it and it's so fun. uh and and it's like you having your own team.
You're constantly iterating whether it works or not. I see this as highly likely that aentic trading is going to be the biggest thing ever over the next decade. And rather than having, you know, a small number of people that stay with it long term, I think it will become the majority of what traders do in perpetuity. And I think this is the biggest gamecher I've ever seen for brokers like Robin Hood. Like I'm not even sure I can wrap my head around how impactful agentic trading is going to be for brokers like Robin Hood.
>> Well, what what do you think it does Robin Hood next 10 years?
>> So, it's way too early to kind of fully figure this out because it this is so big. I'm still trying to figure it out.
But if if what I think might happen happens, this [snorts] could 100x the trading volume volume for a company like Robin Hood >> and this could completely change the entire industry >> of online brokerage. Okay? Because the the raw volume of trading that might end up happening as a result of this. I mean, think about how agentic trading works. You're not restricted by what you as a human can do. You're essentially saying that every human customer that attempts to get in this world can now have an infinite amount of trading. I don't know how that works with trade for, you know, order flow. I don't know what commissions look like. I I I don't know how that's all going to play out.
It just feels really positive. It feels like this tailwind that we no one had calculated for this industry sector a year ago and it's so new. Nobody understands how it's going to work. All I'm thinking about is millions if not tens and tens and tens of millions of traders the next decade that are all trying to beat out the next trader with their army of agents. and you feel like you can the same way that technical traders always felt like they could even though they weren't cuz everyone there's too much competition. It doesn't matter.
It's a game, guys. It's a game that everyone can play now. And it's fun as hell. And it gets people involved in equity markets, which I've always said is the most fruitful hobby a human could ever have because we and Amit knows this better than anyone. Whether you actually beat market performance or not actually doesn't matter because the mere fact that this is going to pull you into the game and incentivize you to push more of your capital into equity markets, you end up winning even if you just match >> Yep.
>> market returns, right? And that's been the biggest that's been like the biggest secret the last 30 years is that you have these people that are getting mega rich as traders. They never generated outsiz returns. They just got so consumed by the hobby of trading that they ended up putting so much money into this hobby and they ended up generating market returns which are extraordinary over the long term compounded. Right?
So, no one talks about that. But that guy that got mega rich over the last 25 years as a trader was just generating market returns. He just happened to put so much damn money into the market cuz it was his hobby or his new profession.
And his wife thinks he's genius. His friends thinks he's genius. Meanwhile, he he never generated outsiz returns. He just put a crapload of money in the market and generated 10% returns with the market for 20 years straight.
compounded and now he's a multi-millionaire, quit his job and pretends that he's an amazing trader, which is totally cool. Whatever, whatever. But like, I think that we're going to see the same thing happen with aentic trading. I think we're just now going to see a 100 times the number of traders embracing aic trading that embrace technical trading because it's approachable and it's fun and it makes sense. And by the way, the more people that do it, the more of your friends, the more of your family, the more of your colleagues that start doing this, the the more you're likely to do it because it becomes a cultural movement.
It becomes a a a a communal connection point with other humans because it's something that you now talk about with your buddies and your family and your colleagues, right? Th this is this is actually really important, right? This is how this is how big shifts take place. Cultural shifts take place. I it's more believe it or not about the humanity of it than the actual money making opportunity in it. Even even though people get in it for the money, it's the connection and the relationships and and the wow, I I'm actually doing something that is independent. You feel this natural independence from your job. You feel hope for your future because now all of a sudden you think in your head, I'm never going to get a raise at this job, but this is going to get me out of my hole. Which, by the way, it is, but not for the reason you think it is. Not because you're going to generate outsized returns, but because it's going to incentivize you to just be pouring instead of buying a new TV, instead of buying a more expensive car, you're going to be incentivized to push more money into your trading account. and you're just gonna win because you always win in equity markets over the long term.
>> The the also the really interesting piece to me there is I've always told people if you're gonna be a trader like you got to take this seriously. This is a job. You got to do your homework in the morning, in the evening. You got to be staying up to date. You could now keep your day job, right? You can keep doing all the things that are bringing in your income. You can have something that is trading for you actively with high quality research and it's running simultaneously. I have a couple things I want to share real quick on this because I see people in the chat talking about MCPs and I do want to show them how I'm using that. But do you have any thoughts first on this area?
>> I agree. Chris is right. This this is what Robin Hood is actually selling.
Robin Hood is selling hope. They're not selling payment for order flow. They're selling hope for a better future.
They're doing it through an easy UI. And you know, because Chris has changed his life with trading, he saw that Robin Hood thesis super early. He realized they were selling hope. And the more young people have hope, I mean, there's all this. The reason why their prediction markets are having billions of contracts traded for the World Cup is because of financial nihilism. People have lost faith. I mean, some of it is kind of fun gambling, but a lot of people have lost faith in financial mobility. And they're like, "Fuck it. I think Argentina is going to win. Let me put 20 grand in Argentina because it's better than this deadend job that I have." And you know, Robin Hood, call she polymarket, they're making money off of that. But more realistically, that is the expression of fear that young people have that should be channeled towards actually I should go watch Chris's thesis on Amazon and put 20,000 into Amazon and if I can see the gains compounded because there's a real company with real cash flows, you know, that's where the world can take me. So, I think that's what Robin's selling and I think agents are only going to hyper accelerate that.
>> Yeah, really interesting point there on the hope and kind of the crossover with pieces. In terms of the actual agentic trading, I did see people talking about this in the chat. MCPS. I think that's a huge thing to be aware of and pay attention to. I think that's kind of cracking the code for agentic trading because right now if you do just connect Claude or Chatbt direct to your Robin Hood brokerage account or public, whatever you're doing it with, it's going to trade off of the information that it has. And that's one things that I think Chris was hitting on, which is like sometimes you need to give the AI information to work off of. You talked about it with your use case of the sandals or the Cocavita, right? You got to give it, hey, here's the use case.
pull all the data, look at this data, and then find something else similar.
And so, as you train it off stuff, I think it's going to make it better. So, MCPs are getting big now because it's a layer that's in between your brokerage that's actually making trades as well as and the QuadBot or whatever it is, and it's feeding it real time data. And so, I have one I'm just going to screen share my um terminal real quick so people can kind of see the terminal. Uh this is a bot on here that is running a strategy right now. I'll just show people. I just asked it a couple minutes ago. Um, what was happening today? You know, what are we looking at? We making any trades? And I don't have to tell it this. It'll check, but I just put it in there for the effect. You know, rallies rallies.Ai, that's what I'm using here as the MCP. It's our AI app. And so running the full Monday scan in parallel, calling Robin Hood trading rallies four times. It's talking about all the sectors, everything it's looking at, and it's a trader, right? So, it's going to look at actual technicals. So, it was holding two positions here, Visa, Bank of America. I looked at the P&L on both of them, the RSI. I've just got to trade with a few thousand dollar to start, but each week gives me a little bit more confidence. Broke down on each of the items, gave its verdict, talked about the energy names that are bouncing right now. The big flag, BAC was reporting earnings. Because BAC was reporting earnings, it went ahead to sell BAC. It did that on its own market data. It got the bid ass clean, placed, sold right there. That happened inside of the account. And then now it has its new watch list, you know, open slots, some of the cash it's looking at, why new entries, pieces like that. And so it's getting all that data that it's pulling from that intermediate layer, which I think is really helpful. And the more data that you can give, the better that it's going to be within these pieces. So I think just wanted to kind of show that because I thought Chris hit on that really, really well. And then once you now start feeding it data, you can do a lot more within those pieces.
So just kind of looking real quick.
Bunch of AI agents that are pre-built here that I'm kind of utilizing. You can see some of the ones that I'm looking at right here. Couple new ones that I've just been working on. Like I was talking about Rivian, like when Rivian actually gets profitable, I think it becomes more interesting. Do I want to check all the time and see when Rivian actually gets profitable? Not really, right? I'd rather an agent goes and watches on that. I think that's an idea like with Chris, like with the Amazon trade, I wonder if there's specific things. It's like, hey, when this triggers, that's a big thing for Amazon. And so, I want an agent that's going to be just watching it. And you can bring agents into all different types of area, right? whether it's watching for idle cash in your account or whatever, but I think you guys are just hitting on all these great points. It's like people really should be using these uh deeper and deeper as they're continuing to watch their pieces. So, just some ways that I'm using them. And then I do have the actual um agent trading for me and kind of utilizing data on a day-to-day basis.
So, it still does feel pretty new, but it's it's getting me comfortable with it. Hey there, it's Gav Blackburg, CEO at Wolf, and I'm so excited to see you at the Wolf Summit NYC on August 3rd.
