Roblox is sacrificing its iconic visual identity for a superficial realism that leads straight into the uncanny valley. This technical expansion prioritizes anatomical granularity over the platform's foundational aesthetic charm.

Roblox is adding Toes and FingersAdded:
2026 seems to be the year of the ugly Roblox update because they've dropped yet another strange one. First, we had dynamic heads ruining so many faces and avatars. Then, we had makeup that nobody is using. And now, we have this. Roblox has recently added the ability to give avatars animations for their shoulders, spines, and individual fingers, and toes. This was announced a while ago to very little fanfare. So, I'm going to talk about it a little bit anyway because this is crazy. Roblox announced full body animation for platform avatars, including fingers, that utilizes the avatar rig to allow for more realistic movements with new individual parts. This includes the back, shoulders, clavicles, chest, fingers, and toes, so avatars can have the option to have higher fidelity animation rigs. The announcement is a little confusing, but it works by adding new joints to the avatar, which already has joints for the knees and elbows you see on R15 avatars. These open up the possibility for stuff like fingers and toes to appear on your avatars, which is definitely a scary thought. All of these are optional and can be added to avatars, NPCs, game characters, or UGC bundles by creators who want to add them. This thankfully is not Roblox adding fingers and toes to our existing avatars, although I could maybe see them one day doing that. There's not much talk about it, but I can imagine a lot of everyday players would react with disgust to the idea of their avatars gaining fingers and toes. I would never in my entire life want my avatar to have fingers or toes, even if it's like a 2.0 avatar that could realistically fit him.
I see it the same as adding a nose because it'd just be a little too weird and realistic for an avatar that's as simple as a normal Roblox one. Sure, it's fine for more realistic Arthrow or certain old school packages like Circuit Breaker, but I still don't know if I'd want to see the fingers or toes on nose ever move. It's a great option for animators who want to make a movie or something like that, but I can't really see too many people using these for everyday use. I imagine most people would rather not see that on any avatar either. And if you're one of those people, then you're in luck. At this point in time, Roblox is not adding new limbs to the base Roblox avatars. And this is simply for NPCs, game characters, and UGC bundles. These are currently completely optional for both creation and use. And I suspect not too many people are going to create or use stuff with moving fingers, toes, and other new joints. Even if they're made and worn by someone, there's no guarantee that they're going to use emotes or be in a game that lets them move the new parts either. I have a feeling this is going to end up like makeup or Arthur. Somewhat feared at first, constantly shown by Roblox, but used by nearly nobody, and forgotten really quickly. Maybe one day Roblox will add them to basic avatars, and it'll look like this UGC creation, but I don't think Roblox is that insane.
There's not much else for me to say, so I'm going to leave it at this. But yeah, you might see fingers and toes moving on someone's avatar every now and then. The odds of that is pretty low, though, and we're probably all going to forget about this in a couple of minutes. Thanks for watching and overlay conible.
