When violence occurs within a specific ethnic community, it creates collective trauma that affects all community members, regardless of their direct connection to the victims, as demonstrated by the Korean-American community in North Texas mourning the deaths of two prominent community members in Carrollton, Texas, where a businessman shot five people over business disputes.

Korean-American community in North Texas reeling after deadly Carrollton shootingsAdded:
It's been a violent 24 hours across North Texas. Two shootings just a block apart in Deep Ellum had Dallas police running from scene to scene overnight.
And in Fort Worth yesterday, a suspect was shot and killed as members of the State Attorney General's office tried to serve a warrant. And in Carrollton, five people were shot, two of them fatally.
The Korean community is mourning the deaths of two people killed in two shootings in Carrollton yesterday. Three other people were injured. One of the shootings happened at Koreatown Plaza over a business dispute. Our Lacy Beasley joins us now from the Korean Cultural Center in Dallas, where leaders in the community have just gathered.
Lacy.
Hey Karen, the resounding message is this is hitting close to home and is extremely emotional for the Korean Association of Dallas. And we are learning that two of the victims are former Chamber of Commerce for the Korean community here in Dallas. And we're also learning that this was a prominent, well-known businessman who is the suspect.
He's a good guy.
He was good guy.
I've been working with him.
I cannot say everything about it, but they were good friend each other.
So, officers arrived at K-Town Plaza yesterday around 10:00 a.m. to find four victims shot. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, and three others were rushed to the hospital and are currently in stable condition. A second scene unfolded about 4 miles away off Old Denton Road, where another man was found dead inside an apartment. Uh police say both shootings are linked to the same suspect. Police arrested 69-year-old Sung Ho Han at H-Mart. They say he confessed to the shootings, telling police he was angry at the victims due to disagreements over business dealings and finances, there was a vigil set up for the victims this morning at the Korean Cultural Center in Dallas. People who knew the suspect and victims personally say this is devastating for the Korean community.
This is severe growing pain into our community.
We know We know the growing pain is so severe but we'll be as a part of this American community as a friend as a team member.
Even it is so sad that we'll be together.
And hopefully this will be a time to growing our community.
Now we are working with the medical examiner's office and we do have new information about one of those victims.
We are learning one of those victims is 63-year-old Sung Ree Cho of Denton and we're working to identify the other.
