[00:01:23]I know that's really for you theory guys that's really E flat but when E flat hasn't made an appearance yet why think that I'm thinking C minor to G7 as the five up the arpeggio down the scale G dominant 7 C minor how nice is that right two chord and minor uh key, right? Some cool stuff.

[00:04:40]I wanted to let you know about the last call. Today's Tuesday, uh, July the 7th, I think it is. Uh, I hope it is. My phone is right there videotaping, so I can't look at it, but and I don't wear a watch or anything. So, um, uh, man, I never wore a watch. You know, everybody always says you're supposed to wear your watch on your left hand, and I'm like, well, I'm right-handed. Why wouldn't I look at the watch like that, but then then it bangs against the guitar. So, I think Tony Rice was a watch fanatic. He re rebuilt watches and stuff, and he I think he always wore it on his left hand cuz you're playing here. You don't want it banging banging here. I don't know.

[00:05:16]Who cares? But, um, I mean, not who cares about Tony Rice, but what what hand you wear your watch on. But um guys, man, look, there's a lot going on and um the workshop has been an all day, every day, uh event planning that thing and um I'm just man, I'm really excited to see where that lands. Guitar Dreams with our buddies Tony and and those guys. Um our buddy uh our buddies Tony and Andrew. And so man, it's just going to be a hell of a summer. Time's flying.

[00:06:08]We're all busy. But what a better opportunity uh opportunity to when it gets really hot and muggy outside, which most of this country is at at this point. Um, man, what a great opportunity to stay inside, crank that air conditioner down, get cool, and and hang out with your guitar buddies, man. Try to learn some stuff. Um, I've been constantly trying to learn some new stuff, trying to keep my hands in shape.

[00:06:32]You know, that's a full-time job, too, these days as we get older. Um, but I am really enjoying getting older. Uh, I hope everything in here is okay. Uh, I think it is. You know, I ran into Oddly Free the other day at the coffee shop. I said, he goes, "Man, you doing good?" I said, "Yeah, I think so." Until somebody tells me different. He goes, "You know who that's going to be? The doctor." I go, "Jesus Christ, oddly, thanks for a dose of reality." But I'm feeling good.

[00:06:55]Uh, having some fun, man. I mean, uh, it's been fun to kind of just relax a little bit, not take everything so seriously. I mean, for a while there, everything was on steroids, you know?

[00:07:06]You know, get through this hurdle and get through this and, you know, get through the next project and blah blah blah blah. And then now that everything's kind of cruising, uh, I'm like, man, you know what? It's time to kind of chill a little bit, which I'm not going to do too much because I like to have a project and and I want to see how far we can take this stuff. But it's nice to know that, man, uh we're getting enough positive feedback with the things that we're doing to know that we know that it's working. We know we're on the right track. Uh you guys have done an amazing job of giving us this feedback that that that inspires us to keep going, man. is we're all insecure no matter how uh you know um you know I'm not going to say no no matter how good you are but but you know as you as your career progresses and and you get more comfortable on the instrument no matter where you're at in that in that journey we're all just scratching the surface so I mean dude it's it's that's just all part of it you know and so we are all insecure in our own you know every day like that guy said a long time ago goes, "You're only as good as your last performance." So, if I go play with my trio and I have what I think is a shitty night, I'm like, "Dude, I can't wait to try to redeem myself, you know?"

[00:08:17]And then I basically I just go, "Man, you know, I mean, if you're having fun and going for it, nobody's going to get hurt, you know, it's not the last gig you're ever going to play, hopefully.

[00:08:26]So, try to do your best. Not you can't like my buddy said too. He goes, "You can't win a Grammy every night." And I go, "Yeah, that's ain't that the damn truth. It'd be nice to win one, you know.

[00:08:41]You guys know I love that Cuban stuff.

[00:08:43]So, this kind of these kind of licks like a kind of what I start with uh G7.

[00:09:15]I don't like that. That doesn't mark the chord enough. So, I like this.

[00:09:26]When you hit that third I love that stuff. C major, you know.

[00:10:20]So C minor, C dominant 7 to F minor, right? G7, C minor, half diminish, D.

[00:10:31]That's your 251 in a minor key.

[00:10:36]augmented C minor 9, F13, B flat minor 7, E flat 9, A flat major 7, G7, C minor, uh, C major, C dominant 7, diminished, I think that works. to F minor G augmented, right? That's cool. I love those sounds.

[00:11:42]those little melodies like that. That's C minor.

[00:11:48]That's G7.

[00:11:51]That's C minor.

[00:11:54]That's G7.

[00:11:58]That's C minor. So you can hear these little these little melodies.

[00:12:12]So when you get down to it, this is really what's changing.

[00:12:21]So to really get inside that So it's all in the chords.

[00:12:33]It's the tight little harmonies, those tight little changes, right?

[00:12:46]It keeps it keeps it nice and tight. If you're jumping around, you know, not hearing those tight intervals changing, that's not really melod. It's not really staying melodic at that point. So, look guys, enough rambling. I'm going to uh I'm going to go maybe try to shoot some pool a little bit. It's kind of a rainy evening. Um and uh might hook up with a couple friends. I'm just trying to take it easy and have a nice little uh kind of a chill summer. Although we're working our asses off during the day, but uh during the evenings, it's been nice. I spent a lot of months here not going out or doing anything. I was like, I'm just going to chill, get some rest and and stay home and just, you know, you know, just catch up and and kind of relax a little bit. And then now I'm kind of getting the bug to get back out and do some socializing. So, um and there's no better place to do it than around the pool table, man. We got a hold of one the other night, man. Me and young Tom went to a friend's birthday party down here at Skinny Dennis and and we got a hold of the pool table early and we held on to it for hours, man. We could have stayed for hours. We ran we were running the table. I'm not bragging or complaining or anything, but man, when you get on a roll sometimes you can really get on a good roll and man, we were we were slaying it down there the other night and which I can say that because it doesn't happen very often, but man, sometimes you get in and you just either you can't make a shot or you can't miss a shot. There's no in between. And it's not like, you know, it's kind of like you're either you're either hitting it or you can't hit anything. And that's where I'm at. I'm either like, you know, sometimes if I have a beer or two, I can get in a little bit of a zone. But, uh, but it's it's a lot of fun, man. I love I love shooting some pool. My dream is to have a house big enough one day where I can have a pool table in the middle of it.
