The speaker offers a sharp critique of how the attention economy has commodified outrage, turning film discussion into a performative social ritual rather than an aesthetic pursuit. It is a necessary reminder that our participation in these digital movements often sustains the very mediocrity we claim to despise.

Stopping Giving This Garbage a Pass!Added:
the dreaded Masters of the Universe film is finally in theaters.
And on the one hand, it's heartening that it's an abysmal box office because it's a garbage film. And can we just stop it is a garbage film, okay? Uh no, I haven't seen it. I refuse to go see that crap. And here come the people, "How can you say that if you haven't seen it?"
I'll give you this.
In the infinite possibilities of the universe, is it possible that maybe it's a good film just as a film?
Maybe. I doubt it. 99% I'm going to say no, but maybe there's that possibility there.
But it's not a good He-Man. We can tell that. We know that from all of the the the designs we've seen, from the the releases and the pre and we know what they're doing with Adam and he's on Earth and then this and this and and Man-At-Arms is a big old drunk cuz he's a father figure, got to tear them down and and so forth and so on.
We know who made the movie. It was made by It was held by some of the same people that did the Barbie movie. And there's a problem in its own right cuz you got idiots on YouTube, "Barbie with actually Ken's movie, guys. It's a good movie."
I'm getting so sick of these imbeciles.
Partly, it's just their stupidity.
And then the other part of them it it really is a grift. It's a grift and it pisses me off so much. But uh wake up. I do not need to have gone to see the movie to know this is an improper take on He-Man. For once in your life, use your pathetic little hashtag chasing brain and understand that you don't have to go pay your ticket money and go sit in the seat. You don't want a good movie. You want an event. Just admit that to yourself. You want a social media event. That's what you want. You want to be able to tune in to your favorite YouTubers and hear them take down this film and trash it and give you their reviews and and then you want to hear the other one say that this one's a good one, guys. This one we need to support that one cuz then we're we're fighting the fight.
It's so tedious. How can people still be so gullible and naive at this point?
It is it's a beautiful thing that it's failing at the box office. I hope I hope Amazon just implodes their MGM whatever uh division however they're they're they're allocating it up or whatever.
Stop it. You can't make movies.
You can't make movies. Stop. Your your own original series are bad enough. Stop thinking that you can make a movie in in in Hollywood, you know, setting and in a theater. It's just it's garbage.
The same people and let's talk about that Barbie crap.
There are still idiots who think that the Barbie movie ha ha ha, it fools jokes on them cuz it was really Ken's movie.
Who's the joke on? You fool went to go buy a ticket for it. Do you think they give a single solitary crap whose movie you think it was? You paid for a ticket and you're out here talking good things about it. Yeah, but I'm saying not the things that they want me to say. Sit No.
No, you are a fool. You are naive.
You're embarrassing yourself. Stop. It's ridiculous and because of all the stupid support people gave the Barbie movie they they went That's why this Snow White movie happened because of the same person inhaling it. Then you got the the bull crap. Is it even still happening?
The Narnia thing that Amazon's doing and then and then and in a woman as land and all this garbage. It's it's all from your support. This is what happens when you think you're fighting the good fight. No, I you don't want a good movie. You don't really want Just admit it to yourself. You don't truly want If you go and watch all of these channels and you go watch the one saying, "Guys, this one's a good movie." And now we're Here's my review where I'm ripping this one new one.
If you watch those channels and even if you think you're not even Well, I just I'm just kind of wanted to see what he had to say about this one. Then you're part of the problem. If you're giving them any attention at all, they are there to make money off of this this narrative and this idea that the fans are revolting and we're taking back Hollywood. It can't be done.
It can't be done.
The only way that can be done is if people just ignore Hollywood. Ignore it. Don't even spend a cent of of of time thinking about whether or not you should go see this movie or not. And and people just die inside when I tell them that. But But I would have missed Project Hail Mary. What? You wouldn't have missed it.
You can't watch it 2 years from now?
There's nothing possibly that you can watch between now and and and a time when when it's no longer a hot hit hip movie. But they can't handle that because they don't want a good movie.
They want to be part of the current social moment. That's what they want. That's all they want. Whether the movie's bad or good, whether they're they're ripping it a new one or cheering on people who are ripping it a new one, or they're cheering on people celeb you know uh defending it. That's all they want. They don't really want good movies. They don't want Hollywood or culture to change. They just want to be part of that little that little uh validating social media movement. And YouTube is the biggest problem when it comes to this because there are YouTubers who are enormous now and they've got this this identity now.
They are they are conservative YouTubers or they are um woke anti-woke YouTubers or whatever. And they're they're out here, you know, pointing shining the light and they're out there fighting the fight on our side. No, they're not. They don't want Hollywood to stop making woke movies because then they stop getting money. Think about that.
Daughter going crazy in the background.
It's it's very logical. They don't want it to stop. If Hollywood totally stopped making garbage movies, then their channels would be nothing.
A lot of these YouTubers, they write their own stuff and promote their own stuff and no one talks about that because no one goes to their channel for that. They go there to hear them, "Oh, I can't wait to hear what they say about this next one." That's all they do. You You don't want culture to change. You don't care about story. You just want a social moment. And people who are trying their best to defend this garbage Master of the Universe movie, I mean, it doesn't really take itself seriously, you know? It's it it it it You can see right through these people.
They're not fans of the He-Man franchise, whatever iteration. You're talking mini comics, you're talking the Filmation cartoon. They're not fans of it. And And these channels have Every now and then, they have to say something good about a movie. And if there's no good movie If there's no like Project Hail Mary for them to say something about or whatever, they will latch on to some of this crap. Like the the Barbie movie they all defended. And then now here comes the He-Man movie they're going to all defend.
I You This is just me.
I've really got I've I've mentioned this before on my channel where, you know, there have been creators in the past who write comics or write um you know, series or whatever, you know?
And And I followed them and I liked their stuff.
And then it like they just double down again and again on supporting these garbage movies that Hollywood produces or television series. I think it was a streaming service the last time I was talking about it.
And I just had to step away. I had to say, "Look, you know, I'm not going to keep buying their stuff because I've been losing faith in their ability to wrap this story up well."
You know, it was the um I talked about it before. It was years and years and years ago. I can't remember the name of the comic. It was these two superhero comics or whatever. But um I you know, I just stepped away from the series. And I was enjoying it thus far.
And it was like they were releasing parts of it at a time, but I lost faith in their ability to wrap that story up in a way that would would uh please me as a reader. And that's just me, my own personal, you know, customer, you know, decision. It's It's And you can like it or hate it, whatever. No one gets to spend my money but me. and I decided I don't have faith that they're going to actually wrap this up, so I'm not going to keep pouring money into it. And I'm getting like that a lot more. It's It's not a chance It's not a matter of oh, this person disagree with me about this movie, therefore I'm not going to buy their book. No, not at all, of course. No one's going to agree with you about everything. But you see this trend where people are just starting to just kind of give up on standards and just make an excuse for everything.
And if that's what you do, you know, if you're out here celebrating James Gunn's piece of crap Superman or the Disney's garbage Fantastic Four and now the the Masters of the Universe movie and you're trying to to defend this crap to me, what honestly, what what what do I have to trust in that that you're going to write your own story in any way? If if those stories are okay in your eyes, if those are good representations of that material in your eyes, yeah, that's a gamble for me, you know, and it's only me. I'm not starting some big, you know, crusade or or or or you know, campaign to get people not to support this and that and this and that.
But uh but I think some of the creators need to have their feet held to the fire. You can't just be Mr. Please everybody. If you don't want to say anything bad about a film, fine. Just don't talk about it.
Stop trying to be one of those like, "Well, everything got married and they're all right."
>> [laughter] >> Enough. Enough.
Uh anyway, that's my He-Man part. I'll get to the Star Wars thing here in a second, but we do have Sounding Graver popping in with a super chat. Said the argument the grifters are running with is that He-Man film is secretly making fun of the woke. At least it's not Kevin Smith, guy. Yeah.
Stop it with this it's secretly on our side.
This is like How many times are you naively going to fall for that? You know, Jon Favreau's secretly on our side, but he has to say these things cuz he's like he's in a inner turmoil, he's fighting. Stop. Stop. Oh, Barbie movie, it's secretly is secretly our movie, guys, because it's a Stop it. You sound like such an idiot.
Just open your eyes. But again, it's not I'm speaking to these people like they're like they're unable to understand it and I think for many in many many cases they completely understand it. They just don't care.
They need this narrative to continue because that's how they make their money on social media. They need it to keep going.
