The victims in this heartbreaking case were Abdullah Dokadia, his wife Nasreen, and their two daughters. According to the reports, on the night of April 26, the family had invited relatives to their home for dinner. They reportedly served them chicken biryani, and everything appeared to be completely normal. The guests later left safely, and there was no sign that anything was wrong. But later that night, around 1:30 a.m., only the four family members consumed watermelon at home. And just hours later, one after another, family members started suffering from severe vomiting, stomach pain, discomfort, and diarrhea.

And now, after a detailed forensic analysis and more than 50 tests, investigators said that they have found the real reason behind the suspicious deaths. And the reason is zinc phosphide, a highly toxic rat poison. According to the forensic experts, traces of poison were reportedly found in the watermelon consumed by the family in the night.

Medical [music] experts explain that zinc phosphide is a chemical compound commonly used as rat poison. But once it enters the human body, it becomes extremely deadly. The moment it reaches our stomach, it reacts with stomach acid and releases phosphine gas, a poisonous gas that rapidly spreads around to the body. And what makes this poison terrifying is how quickly it attacks the body. According to the doctors, the gas starts damaging cells almost immediately, stopping them from producing energy. Oxygen levels begin dropping rapidly. The lungs get affected and in severe cases organs like the liver and kidneys start failing.

[00:04:12]Experts say symptoms can begin within just 30 minutes to 1 hour. Vomiting, dizziness, breathing problems, convulsions, confusions and eventually coma or death. In fact, forensic experts say even a small amount of zinc phosphide can become fatal. [music] Doctors also revealed another chilling detail. If treatment does not begin roughly within 1 hour, saving the patient becomes extremely difficult. And by the time the poison fully reacts inside the body, even advanced medical treatment may fail.
