Greenstar Sudoku is a puzzle variant that combines standard Sudoku rules with an additional constraint: digits placed in green circle cells must match either the row number, column number, or box number of that cell. This creates additional logical constraints that help solve the puzzle by providing direct clues about cell values based on their position.

Today I'm going to be trying my hand at a green star by Bram Stoker. If you'd like to give it a go, there will be a link in the description below. If you do, please let me know how you fared and what you thought of it.
This is the sixth puzzle in the Sudoku Crutches series 11.
Uh if you'd like to check out the other uh videos, six of them are um solved by Timon Tab, then there will will be a link in the description below to the to the playlist.
Right, let's read the rules.
Normal Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1 to 9 in each row, column, and box without repetition.
Friendly cells. Digits placed on a green circle must match either the row number, the column number, or the box number of the cell.
That's it. Sip of tea.
Reset the time.
Right, so let let's pencil mark and see what. So the all of those Well, let's let's do them by row, column, and box. So this could be Now first by row, those could be one.
Those could be two.
Well, except the last one can't be two, right?
Those can't be can't be three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Seven, eight, and nine.
Now we'll do the same with the column.
You can see the column number and the row number as well.
If needed.
Um five, six.
Um no.
I made a mistake. That's not six.
I say that and then make the mistake myself. Um that is seven, eight, and that's nine.
Now the box, that's box number one.
Box number two. Well, those can't be two.
Box number three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Seven. Did I put four there for No. No.
Good reason.
Eight and nine.
Right.
I hope that that clarified the rules.
Um right. So we could have started here because this is obviously row five, column five, and box five. It has to be five. It's a gimme.
This becomes an eight.
Comes a nine.
This becomes a two and that becomes a one.
Correct.
So these aren't eight anymore.
That becomes a nine. That's not an eight.
What else? These aren't five.
These aren't five either.
This becomes a one.
Sip of tea.
A sip of tea. That's three.
That's six.
Seven or Are we done with the easy ones? Do I have to look at other requirements?
I have no idea. What are the other requirements?
So these are four, six, seven, eight, nine, obviously, right?
But that's that's five.
I know these these have to be two. One of these one of these is five. That's a lot of options.
Right.
So this has to be one.
Two.
This would have to be two.
One of these is two.
One of these is two.
Right. Three.
Seems like there's a lots of places for three, four.
One of these is four.
That's it.
Five is We only have one. Six needs One of these is six.
Seven don't have that much.
Eight.
Either.
And nine there's only Well, no, actually there are a few.
There are a few.
Well, one of these is nine.
Now one of these is nine as well. Maybe I could pencil mark all of this. What What am I missing? Five, seven, and nine, right?
Uh that's Okay, that's not five or nine, so that is seven.
Those become a five, nine.
That might help.
That might help.
Or it might not.
Um right. What am I still missing in column number five?
Oh, this is a seven.
It's been there for a while, I guess.
Seven.
Right.
Um that's an eight. That's a three.
All right. Okay, what was I missing in in column number five? I've already have the three. I'm missing still a three and a six, right?
A three and a six. Yeah, but that's doesn't really help.
Hm.
Right.
Hm.
Row number one.
I'm missing a four. I'm missing a seven and an eight.
Yeah, I can see the eight.
Seven could be anywhere. That's not really helping.
Am I still missing something in with the circles?
Anything?
Anything I should keep track of? There's These are five.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Uh that's a two.
No. No, no, no. Now I'm not looking at the I'm not looking at the circles anymore.
Oh dear.
I hope I didn't make that mistake in lots of other places.
Right.
One of these is three, for what it's worth.
One of these is three.
One of these is three.
One of these is three.
Hm.
I don't need a three here, right? I can have four and six and this would be one, two. That seems to be okay.
Right. Uh four.
I don't need a four either.
I don't need a four either.
That's not helping.
Six.
Still seven. Oops. Three places. Two here.
Three. Three.
Eight.
Eight.
And nine. Oops.
A nine is not true. There's already a nine there. So it's in three places, but yeah.
Um I'm missing something.
I am missing something.
Let's take away the nines cuz they're not correct and I don't want to.
What am I missing? I'll take another sip of tea.
Before I start pencil marking every single digit, which it works, but This this looks like it could be interesting.
Cuz it's not one, two. It's not four, five. What could be six though, right?
It could be six, so it's three or six.
That's doesn't really help.
Any other interesting That's not one, two, three, six, seven, eight, or nine. But that still leaves four or four or five, doesn't it?
That's not exactly solving anything, is it?
Mhm.
Feel like I've either pencil marked incorrectly or there's something wrong there.
Three or four, three, four, or six.
Six or seven.
Yeah.
So, nine.
What am I missing?
What is the the the digit that I'm missing?
I don't need any digit here, right? Do I need a six? Yeah, I don't need a six.
Six would leave me with four, seven, and nine, for instance.
I don't see what I would need.
Mhm.
I Oh, that's not eight. Yeah, that that helps, doesn't it?
That helps. This becomes two. This becomes eight, so this would have to be two.
Okay. Well, it helps. Doesn't resolve anything, but at least I can have all the eights now.
And that that gives me some things as well.
No, it always helps if you can do normal Sudoku.
It always helps.
Right.
Um what did I have as well? I had the nine here.
I had the nine.
Right.
Was that it?
Was that it?
Was that it?
I don't know. Where is six?
Six has to be in one of these.
Mhm.
Okay.
I'm still missing a four and a five for this one. This isn't four, but doesn't really matter, does it? It's for now.
Oof.
Come on.
What did I have? I had the six. Did I?
I'm not sure, actually.
I got all the eights now, so that's done.
Nine, I Oh.
One of these is nine.
Since we have a nine there, so this can't be nine. This can't be nine either, so one of these is nine. That means one of these have to be nine. It's this one.
Right. That That helps. Now, I'm still missing a four and a five.
They're both both are okay still. Four and five.
Both are still okay.
Mhm.
Okay.
Seven.
Do I have anything with seven?
Doesn't look like it.
One of these are five.
One of these are five.
Yep.
Right. Six.
Now, we have enough places still for six, right? Everywhere.
Six. Five we've done.
What we've done. It's just this one.
Four.
If these are four, all these are four as well now.
Which means that one of these are four.
Okay.
One of these are four.
And one of these are four.
Right?
Only this one has a lot That one, too, has a lot. This box has a lot of fours.
Uh three.
We're still not done with three, either.
One of these are three, though. This isn't three, and this isn't three. So, one of these are three.
Which means that this becomes a three.
This isn't.
This isn't, which leaves me here with four and six.
Right. And one of these would have to be three.
Um right.
Okay. Two.
Oh, this isn't two, is it?
Okay. Pencil marking helps.
Pencil marking helps.
This would have to be two as well.
So, we get all the twos. That's That's good.
One.
One.
That's it with one?
Seems like it.
It seems like it. It could be a good time to start pencil marking more, I guess.
Um what am I missing in box number three? I'm missing a five and a seven.
Five and a seven.
Five and a seven, that doesn't help.
Five and a seven there as well. Yeah, four, five.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
And Well, I don't miss I don't need a seven here. I do need a five and a six.
Does that help?
Oh, so yeah, this one is just a five now, isn't it? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. So, that that is a singlet, a five, which leaves me with a four here. This becomes a five. That becomes a four.
That's really good, cuz this isn't a four anymore. It's a seven.
It's a seven.
Right. And I still need then a nine and a five.
And from the other side, I would need a six and a seven.
Right.
We're getting somewhere.
Kind of, sort of, slowly.
I do need a three.
A three there. No, I don't need a three.
I need a six.
I need a six, right?
Um missing a one and six one and a six in box in row number seven. So, this would have to be one. This would be six.
This isn't one anymore or four. This is four or six. Well, or four.
Not what I meant.
Right.
And I would need a one, five, and a six.
This one isn't six.
Here we need three, four, three, four, five, and one.
Well, this isn't one. This I can't even figure out when there's a singlet. That's funny. That's a six, and this one isn't.
That's a six, right?
One of these needed to be a five, right?
That's what we said. Yeah, so this is five. That's one.
That's three. One.
Five.
Nine, five.
Nine, five, and then Wow.
Well, that's pencil mark box number five. This might be useful.
That's 1 3 and that is 7 9.
Right.
Okay, less useful than we would have hoped, but okay.
All right.
More tea.
Well, here's a 4 4 6 7 triplet. So, this is from 5 9. This one isn't five comes nine. That is five and nine.
This becomes a six seven four six and four and I would still be missing a three and a five, right?
Right, uh which means which means that is a seven that is a nine. I need a seven in a row number four. It has to be here.
This becomes a five gives me a three a five not a three not a three. That is a three though.
1 6 3 4 6 That's 104. It can't be four.
So Right.
That's about it. I messed it up a bit in the middle. Well, I meant and I don't hope I didn't mess it up, but it took me a while to actually see the patterns the Sudoku patterns because hey, it's not like this is a Sudoku puzzle.
Well, let's check it. Moment of truth.
Yay.
I hope that you enjoyed it as well. If you did, please like and subscribe.
Maybe share. I'll see you next time.
