Rotator cuff tears are injuries to the muscle group of the shoulder that provides stability and power to raise the arm, commonly caused by trauma or degeneration in elderly patients; symptoms include pain and loss of ability to raise the arm, with treatment ranging from non-operative management (medicines, physiotherapy, splintage) for minor tears to surgical anchoring with stitches for major tears where the muscle is displaced.

Rotator Cuff Tear | Dr. Anubhav Gulati | Manipal Hospital GurugramHinzugefügt:
[music] >> So, what is rotator cuff tears?
So, rotator cuff tears are tear of a muscle group of our shoulder, which provide stability and power to raise our arm.
If we look at this model, this is one of the main component of the rotator cuff.
It is called supraspinatus.
And these tears, they happen by injuries or sometimes because of degeneration in elderly age groups.
So, these tears are very painful and one loses the capacity to raise their arm upwards.
So, if it's a minor tear, it can be managed non-operatively by medicines, physiotherapy, and splintage. But if it's a major tear and the muscle is torn and displaced, then it requires anchoring back in the bone by some small stitches which are called anchors.
