This video presents two classic fairy tales that explore the deeper meaning of happiness and sacrifice. In Peter Pan, children discover that true happiness comes from friendship, adventure, and caring for others, not just material possessions. In The Happy Prince, a statue covered in gold and precious stones sacrifices his beauty to help the poor, teaching that inner beauty and compassion are far more valuable than outward appearance. Both stories demonstrate that genuine happiness comes from helping others and showing kindness, not from wealth or material things.

Peter Pan & The Happy Prince 🧚 | Fairy Tales and Stories for KidsAdded:
[music] >> Once there lived a family not too far out from where we all lived. [music] The Darling family. The Darling family had three children. Their names were John, Michael and Wendy.
Wendy would always tell her mom how Peter Pan would always play the flute in her room. Her mother would always tell her that she was imagining things but couldn't help but notice the leaves in [music] the room, which always confused her a bit.
Wendy would always say that the leaves fall off Peter Pan.
>> [music] >> One night when their parents went out for the night, the kids were left home all alone.
>> [music] >> And when they got sleepy, they all went to sleep.
Peter Pan silently [music] entered their room and started looking for the leaves he had left behind.
At that [music] moment Wendy woke up.
Peter Pan, I was waiting for you. Nobody would believe that you're real.
Wendy gave [music] back the leaves she had been hiding for Peter.
She really liked Peter and so they sewed his leaves back on his clothing.
>> Wendy, [music] would you like me to tell you an amazing adventure story?
>> I don't want to hear about an adventure.
I want to live one, Peter Pan.
>> Right at that moment, >> [music] >> Peter's small fairy friend, Tinkerbell, entered through the window.
>> [music] >> Well, of course.
I knew you'd be here.
Are you getting ready for a new adventure without me?
>> You know it's not possible for me to do anything without you.
>> [music] >> Wendy woke her siblings up. The siblings looked at Peter Pan and Tinkerbell with great confusion.
>> [music] >> Well, are you ready to fly?
>> Tinkerbell scattered her fairy dust and off they went floating into [music] thin air, and all together they left the house.
The kids headed towards Neverland at [music] once.
>> [music] >> After a long journey, they arrived at Neverland, and there they were.
>> [music] >> The mermaids, wild animals, Indians, pirates, and the Lost Boys [music] were there, too.
Amongst them all was the most dangerous of them called Captain Hook. Captain Hook was Peter Pan's enemy.
The reason for this was because when they were fighting, Peter cut his arm and a huge crocodile ate it.
Along with his arm, he also swallowed his watch, and because of this, the crocodile would always make a tick-tock noise.
And so, Captain Hook would always know if the crocodile was near from the noise. When looking around with his binoculars on [music] the deck, Captain Hook spotted Peter Pan and kids looking at him from the top of a hill.
>> [music] >> He immediately ordered the men to fire the cannons.
It was very hard for Peter Pan and the kids to get away from the cannons.
>> Tinker Bell, you take the kids to a safe place. [music] I will deal with Hook.
>> Tinker Bell was very jealous of Wendy, so she wanted to keep her away from Peter Pan.
With some made-up excuse, she left Wendy on the hill and brought John and Michael to a safe [music] place down at the beach.
The lost boys who lived on the island saw Wendy from afar.
And thinking that she was an enemy, they wounded her.
At the same time, Peter Pan was fighting with Captain Hook. But seeing the crocodile that got his arm suddenly reappearing, [music] Hook ran away in fear.
>> [screaming] >> Whilst Peter Pan was coming back, [music] he saw Wendy lying on the rocks wounded and he was very upset.
And the lost [music] boys were very sorry when they realized that the girl that they had wounded was Peter Pan's friend.
>> [music] >> I have left the kids in your care.
>> Tinker Bell was so sorry. [music] She also realized that what she did was wrong.
>> I am so sorry, Peter. This will never happen again. I promise.
>> Lost boys made a beautiful home for Wendy [music] and her brothers.
At night, they all would sleep in the house underneath [music] the trees listening to Wendy's stories.
And Peter Pan would keep guard in front of the house.
One day, >> [music] >> when they were resting on the rocks, they spotted the pirates approaching.
The pirates took the Indian chief's daughter hostage.
Peter Pan and the boys went after to save the chief's daughter.
>> [music] >> And there was a big battle between them and the pirates.
In the end, they saved his daughter [music] and brought her to the chief.
After that day, the Indians, Peter Pan, and the lost boys became >> [music] >> very close friends.
In fact, the chief ordered two of his best men in [music] Peter Pan's command to guard the boys.
Of course, >> [music] >> Captain Hook was furious about this.
>> One day, I will beat you, Peter Pan, and you will [clears throat] not be able to get away.
>> One night, when Wendy [music] started to tell the story of her family, Peter realized how much she and her brothers missed their [music] home.
So, he told them that they could go back if they wanted to, but that he wanted to stay.
>> [music] >> When they all were packing up for their long journey, they were attacked by the pirates.
The pirates caught the boys after they set up a trap to the Indians >> [music] >> and captured them.
Peter Pan was sleeping at home not knowing all that happened to the boys.
Captain Hook saw him sleeping, >> [music] >> but he could not open the door to Peter Pan's tree house.
>> [music] >> Still, he poured the poison in the bottle he was carrying under [music] the door, causing Peter Pan to sleep hours.
Peter Pan slept one whole day, and when he woke up, Tinker Bell entered. [music] After she told him all that had happened, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell went out to rescue the boys.
When they arrived to the happy rock, the pirates' headquarters, they saw that there was no pirate on guard. And when they went over to the other side of the rock, they were shocked from what they saw.
Wendy, John, and Michael, and the lost boys were all tied up to the poles, and Captain Hook was holding a torch in flames.
>> Say [music] your last words.
>> [laughter] >> As their eldest, Wendy began to talk.
Dear friends, my last words to you will be the words your real mothers would have told you. [music] If they were here, they would have told you not to be afraid and be courageous to face your death. Don't be afraid. Kindness always wins.
Always.
Captain Hook got very angry [music] with Wendy's words. So, he brought her to the boat and tied her to the big pole.
At this moment, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell reached out to save the boys.
>> [music] >> At the same time, the Indians and their chief came to help.
This made Peter Pan so happy. Because with their help, they rescued the boys.
It was now time to get Wendy.
Peter Pan and the Lost Boys got [music] on Captain Hook's ship, where only a few pirates remained.
And when they realized that they would be [music] beaten, they jumped off the ship.
>> [music] >> There's nowhere to hide, Hook.
Surrender.
>> Peter Pan and the Lost Boys started to charge towards Captain Hook, pushing him to walk backwards. And suddenly, he heard the noise, the one noise that he was most afraid of.
>> [music] >> When Captain Hook looked back in fear, he saw the croc waiting for him to fall down into the water.
>> Help! [screaming] >> In a flash, he ran to the other side of the boat, jumped and started to swim as fast as he could.
Peter Pan and the Lost Boys began to laugh.
>> [laughter] >> From that moment on, Hook's ship belonged to the lost boys and their captain was [music] Peter Pan.
>> The crew is ready for your orders, Captain Peter.
>> Sail away.
>> The boys untied the ropes and the sails [music] blew up with all their might.
>> Tinkerbell, fly us away to the home of the Darling family.
>> The kids were very happy to hear this.
Wendy and John and Michael were going to reunite with their parents they had dearly missed.
When [music] Tinkerbell sprinkled the fairy dust, suddenly the ship was airborne and started to fly in the sky.
>> [music] >> Wendy was restless to get home and tell her parents all about Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and Neverland.
From that day on, Neverland was going [music] to be their second home and Peter Pan Once upon a time [music] in a beautiful town located at the very top, there was the [music] statue of the happy prince.
The statue was covered with gold from head [music] to toe and there was a big red ruby on the handle of his sword.
>> [music] >> And as for the prince's eyes, they were two sparkling green emeralds.
>> [music] >> The statue of the happy prince could be seen by everyone in town and it was [music] known to spread hope and happiness to all.
One night, [music] a little swallow came to town.
Her friends flew to warmer parts of the world to be protected from the cold, >> [music] >> but she was left behind.
She saw the statue which was resting on a big [music] column.
>> Let me spend the night here. Tomorrow I'll continue.
>> The swallow landed right between the Happy Prince's feet.
>> Tonight I'm going to sleep in a garden bed.
>> When she was getting ready to sleep, putting her wing over her head, suddenly a drop of water fell on her head.
She looked up.
But the sky was clear and it wasn't raining.
>> [music] >> Right at that moment, another drop of water landed on her beak, followed by another.
To understand what was going on, the swallow flew up on the statue's head.
She saw that the drops were coming from the Prince's eyes. They were his [music] teardrops.
Happy Prince's teardrops were running down on his cheek and dropping on his feet.
And his sad eyes were sparkling in the moonlight. The swallow felt really sad [music] for him.
>> Hello, and who are you?
>> I am the Happy Prince.
>> And then why are you crying?
>> When I was alive and my heart was a human heart, I never shed a tear because I lived in a palace where we did not know what sadness [music] was.
During the day, I used to play with my friends in the garden and at night [music] time, I would dance in the big ballroom.
There was a big wall surrounding the garden, but I never wondered what was behind the wall.
Everything around me was so beautiful and they always called me [music] Happy Prince and I was very happy indeed.
However, when my life ended, they put me here on top of this hill.
And now I can see all the ugliness and the poverty around me.
Although my heart is made of lead, there's nothing I can do but cry.
>> The swallow was very sad.
>> There is a torn down small house in a little [music] alley far from here.
One of the windows is open and I can see a woman working on the sewing machine.
Her face is weak and tired.
>> [music] >> On the corner of the bed, her little son is lying down sick.
He has fever but his mother has no money.
Dear swallow, can you take out the precious ruby on my sword's handle and take it to her?
>> After a little bit of rest, I must keep flying to warmer countries.
>> At least stay here tonight. Tomorrow you can go wherever you want.
>> Although the swallow was already cold and did not have any rest, she could not do anything but help the sad happy prince.
So with the help of her beak, the swallow took the ruby out of the handle from the prince's sword and flew into town over the dark midnight sky.
Finally, she arrived to the town house >> [music] >> and looked inside. The baby boy was in his bed struggling with a fever and his mother was [music] sleeping. She flew inside and put the big ruby on the table right in front of her.
Then she flew over to the boy and flapping her wings, she cooled him down [music] a little bit.
The swallow returned next to the happy prince and told him all about what had happened. [music] >> When she wakes up, she will see the precious stone and so she will be able to buy medicine and food for her boy.
Thank you very much. Now you can sleep easy tonight, dear swallow.
>> [music] >> It was morning now. Right when she was getting ready to fly [music] away, the Happy Prince stopped the swallow.
>> Hey, swallow. Dear swallow, can't you just stay one more night?
>> I need to fly to the warmer countries as soon as possible and find my family and friends.
>> Far away on the other side of the town, I see a young man in a small attic.
He is sitting at a table full of paper and pale violets in a small glass. This is a young writer and he's trying to finish his new book, but he doesn't have any wood to burn or a piece of bread to eat.
Don't you want to help him?
>> The good-hearted swallow accepted to stay one more night just to help the young writer.
>> [music] >> Unfortunately, I have no more rubies left, but my eyes are from a very precious stone called emerald.
Take one of them and bring it to the writer.
>> [music] >> Hearing this made the swallow very sad.
She did not accept it at first, [music] but when the Happy Prince insisted, she had no choice.
So, she took the emerald out [music] with her beak.
Then, she started to fly towards the house the Happy Prince was talking about.
When she arrived, the young man was sitting at the table restless with his hands covering his face.
He did not hear the bird's wings flapping.
When he looked up, he saw the green sparkling emerald on top of the pale >> [music] >> violets.
He thought that one of his fans who liked his writing left it there.
So, he took the emerald and stood [music] up with joy.
>> I came to say goodbye.
>> Dear swallow, can't you stay just one more night?
>> It is almost winter.
It's going to snow soon. I really have to go. My dear prince, I need to fly away, but I will never forget you.
>> Okay, but I have one last wish from you.
Please do it for me. On the square [music] down below, there's a little girl selling matches, but she dropped them all into the water and they all got wet.
Now she cannot bring home some money.
Her dad will be very [music] upset and they too will be hungry tonight. She's there crying. She doesn't even have shoes or socks or a hat covering her head.
Take my other eye. Give it to her so they will be okay.
>> Hearing this story, the swallow decided to stay one more night.
Okay, one last time, but I can't take your eye out. Then you won't be able to see.
>> It hurts me more to see the hungry and helpless people around me.
So please do as I say.
>> Taking out his other eye, the swallow began flying down.
>> [music] >> She flew slowly next to the girl and dropped the emerald in her hand. The girl shouted, "Oh, what a beautiful piece of glass." And ran home with joy.
After that, the little swallow came back next to the happy prince.
>> I [music] decided to stay next to you and be your eyes from now on.
>> [music] >> The prince asked the swallow to fly over the whole town and inform him about all that was happening.
The swallow flew over the town and saw that while the rich people were sitting in their warm houses, the poor were trying to light a fire [music] in the cold to get warm.
When she went into the dark alleys, she saw the weak faces of hungry kids.
Under a bridge, she saw the two little kids sleeping on [music] each other's laps and and to warm each other up.
Then she went [music] back and told all about it to the prince.
>> I am covered with pure gold. Just peel them [music] off and bring it to the poor.
They think that gold makes you happy, but actually to be healthy [music] and content is what makes you happy.
>> The swallow began to peel off all the gold from the prince [music] the statue until the prince looked weak and miserable.
And she gave all the gold to the poor on the streets.
Meanwhile, [music] it began to snow.
The streets were full of snow.
The swallow kept on helping the poor [music] every night by peeling off the gold from the prince until there was nothing left.
The poor little swallow was freezing, [music] but she did not want to leave the prince alone. She loved him dearly.
But in the end she knew that she was going to die. She used the last bit of strength she had left and flew up to the prince's [music] shoulder.
>> [laughter] >> Goodbye, dear prince.
>> So, you decided to fly to the warmer countries after all, my friend?
>> [music] >> The little swallow could not tell the prince where she was going, so she kissed him slowly [music] on the cheek and fell on the ground next to him.
Right that moment there was a cracking noise coming from inside [music] the happy prince's statue.
It was his heart of lead breaking into pieces.
>> [music] >> When it was morning, everybody gathered around the statue of the [music] happy prince, and they were looking at him with amazement. Then they all saw the lifeless body of the swallow laying down next [music] to his feet. Everybody was so sad.
But then they heard a voice amongst the crowd. It was the young writer.
>> Now I understand why the Happy Prince is in this shape. He and his little swallow sacrificed themselves for our happiness.
So stay happy and don't be sad.
The two most [music] beautiful hearts in this town were their hearts and it will forever stay that way.
