In employment disputes, particularly regarding contract non-renewal, timely action is critical because evidence can be destroyed or lost over time; waiting too long to seek legal advice or preserve documentation can significantly reduce the chances of recovering full compensation, even when the law is on your side.

Don't Let This Be Your Story: The Evidence Window Is Closing.
Added:A teacher came to me last year in June.
It was a lovely case, clear non-renewal, five years at the school.
He was owed five months salary, but he got nothing, and here's why.
This teacher did everything a smart person would do, or at least they thought what a smart person would do.
Right after Chinese New Year, the school pulled him aside and said next year's contract wasn't guaranteed.
No details, no written notice, [music] just a conversation in the principal's office. The teacher thought, "Okay, I'll wait and see. Maybe things will change."
>> [music] >> So April came, May came, June came, nothing in writing.
>> [music] >> The teacher started casually job hunting, you know, just in case, but still waiting for something official.
Another month passed, and the school finally confirmed [music] at the last month that they were not renewing him.
But by now, the school's think [music] talk was already locked out of the school email, had key messages deleted.
The verbal conversation from March? No record of it whatsoever. [music] So the teacher came to me in June and said, "Well, I know I'm owed severance."
[music] And technically, they were right, but the school's position, the teacher chose to leave. So we never terminated anything. [music] And the teacher had almost nothing to prove otherwise. [music] So we tried, we worked with what we had, but I'm going to be honest with you. What we recovered was only half what he deserved, because the evidence window had closed. [music] Five months salary, half of it gone, poof, just like that.
Not because the law wasn't on his side.
It was because he waited too long. I don't want this to be your story.
If your school has said anything [music] to you, anything at all, about next year not being certain, talk to me right now.
Not next month, not when you know for sure, right now. The evidence you need is disappearing [music] while you wait.
