Jeff Bezos Says Taxing Him More Won’t Help You

[00:00:26]People sometimes say that that, you know, I don't pay taxes. That's true. I pay billions of dollars in taxes. And it's a perfect Again, if people want me to pay more billions, then let's have that debate. But don't pretend, you know, that this that that's going to solve the problem. You could You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not going to help that teacher in Queens. I promise you.

So, I've got some words for Jeff Bezos regarding that interview he recently did that you just saw with CNBC, where he was talking about how a nurse making $75,000 shouldn't have to pay any taxes, and that even if they doubled his taxes, it still wouldn't make a difference for people like her.

[00:01:14]Well, while I agree that that nurse shouldn't have to pay taxes, I disagree about how much taxes he should have to pay. Because you know what I think would make a difference? Taxing billionaires like him at 70 to 90% of their income.

[00:01:27]He's got a lot of nerve sitting up there talking about how much money wouldn't make a difference. Wouldn't make a difference to who is what I want to know. Because money clearly made a big difference for him.

[00:01:39]It bought him a whole new face. It bought his mistress wife a whole new face, even though honestly I think she needs to ask for a refund and go get another one, but I digress.

[00:01:48]I love the way rich people like to tell poor and working class people that money doesn't make a difference. But what I know is the only people who money doesn't make a difference to is the ones who don't have any. Meanwhile, they hold on to every damn dollar with a death grip and exploit everybody else to get even more money while they tell you it don't make no difference. So, in my opinion, we should tax the hell out of people like Jeff Bezos. Tax them at 70 80% of that wealth and income and let's see if it makes a difference for the rest of us. Let's try something different on for size. Maybe then we could have universal health care. Maybe then kids could go to college without coming out of college drowning in debt before they even get to start their lives and their careers. Maybe people wouldn't have to go bankrupt just because they stubbed their pinky toe and had to go to the emergency room. Because whatever the hell we're doing right now, it's clearly only working for rich people like him and not for the rest of us. So, to Jeff Bezos, I say, maybe it doesn't make a difference to you, but I know you paying your share in taxes would make a whole hell of a bigger difference for the rest of us.
