Bus Fares Have Surged To Sh200 From Sh30 To 50, Leaving Many Stranded - Ian KeitanyAdded:
Thank you, Indu. I can't hear you. I am along the road to be specific along the All Souls Interchange and this is a road that is usually very, very normal, especially on a Monday morning. But, the situation today is totally different.
Just if my camera person can try and you know give you the view of this particular road, it is clear. Only private vehicles, a few of them to be specific, operating in this particular route. So, just just for the camera person to give you a view of this particular road, there are no vehicles, no public service vehicles. We've only seen a few public service vehicles and if at all, you know, they're operating, they're charging 200 shillings for, you know, a place that normally Kenyans pay between 30 to 50 shillings, at most 70 bob. So, that has left so many people stranded here. And like you can see just right behind me, there's so many stranded Kenyans here who do not have a means to go to work at work rather this particular morning. We've seen many Kenyans, you know, walking to work this particular morning. Most of them still stranded here. They're unable to get a means to go to their jobs, respective jobs this particular morning. And this is a situation across this particular road. So many Kenyans, hundreds if not thousands, are just stranded waiting to see if they will get, you know, some sort of a reprieve in terms of getting a means to, you know, go to work this particular morning.
