Wall Street's 'Magnificent 7' Faces New Market Reality | WION World Business Watch
Added:SpaceX's blockbuster market debut has reignited a debate on Wall Street over whether the term "magnificent seven" still accurately reflects the companies driving markets.
Valued at more than $2 trillion after its IPO, SpaceX has leapfrogged both Meta and Tesla in market capitalization, instantly becoming one of the world's most valuable companies.
The listing marks the largest IPO in US history. Analysts say the arrival of new trillion-dollar companies is making the traditional Mac 7 label increasingly difficult to justify.
The Magnificent Seven was uh coined in 2023 to describe seven dominant technology-linked stocks: Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, and Tesla.
But with companies such as SpaceX already in the trillion-dollar club and OpenAI and Anthropic widely expected to follow through future public listings, investors are searching for new ways to define market leadership.
Proposed names range from MANGOES, representing Meta, Anthropic, Nvidia, Alphabet, OpenAI, and SpaceX, to broader groupings that include AI and semiconductor leaders.
Bank of America has already expanded the conversation with its AI Big 10 basket, which includes Broadcom, AMD, and Micron alongside the original seven tech giants.
While these names are unofficial, they have long served as a shorthand for the companies dominating investor attention and market performance.
Wall Street has seen similar transitions before from the Nifty Fifty of the 1960s and '70s to FAANG and eventually the Magnificent Seven. Each shift reflected changing leadership in technology and financial markets. Yet many analysts believe the Max 7 brand remains too deeply embedded to disappear overnight.
So, instead of the replacing it, investors may adopt new labels to capture the growing influence of AI, semiconductors, and space technology.
