Come shop with me at Tesco for 12 peopleAjouté :
Hi everyone. Let's go shop at Tesco.
My name is Natalie. I'm shopping for 12 people and this has been a little while since I have put up a shop Tesco.
In fact, I've been hopeless at putting any type of videos up, but Tesco is our nearest supermarket and we do about 80% of our shopping there at the moment.
I ended up spending £178.
This is not a full week shop.
So they had sent me a £14 off code if I spend £90. I think it's like universal for everyone, so I'll put it in the description just in case anyone else can use it. We had run low on just about everything, but when I got in store, I realized that they were not doing the same offers as online.
And then online, they also have 20% off their finest fruit and veg.
And I thought that would transfer in store, but it didn't.
So I am going to have to do another shop and it makes sense anyway to get that £14 off plus that extra discount on fruit and veg.
But they do have some really good offers anyway.
Plus I managed to pick up some reduced stuff, which is always good when you are going to use that anyway.
The club card offers for this week included I'm froze, we picked up some of those and Neve also wanted those biscuits.
They also have quite a lot of like the chocolates on offer and crisps on offer.
Mainly I was in for the essentials, so bread, wraps come under essentials for us, milk, fruit and veg to last us until we get that click and collect.
Eggs are another thing that we go through so many of and at the moment Tesco have price matched Aldi on eggs, so I ended up picking up 30 eggs in total.
They do also have six eggs for a pound.
Two weeks ago, that was 65p. Was it 85p?
But, the last time we picked it up, it's definitely gone up already. And I had seen in the news that they think that all food shopping is going to go up by 50% by November.
Which is quite scary to think about because it's already gone up weekly.
Every single week there is something that has gone up in price. So, if that is going to go up by another 50%, it is going to make food even more unaffordable.
Fruit-wise, we picked up some strawberries. That's the children's favorite. I can't get the kilogram one for £5. I've seen everywhere and Tesco have the kilogram of strawberries for £5 in a big tray. We haven't seen them. Our local greengrocers, they were doing two trays, two kilogram trays for £5. But, unfortunately, that has stopped as well.
And strawberries are something that everybody eats. They all enjoy it. So, we go through so many and that can obviously be quite expensive.
But, pineapples, they were on a Clubcard offer. We only got one as not everyone eats them.
In fact, quite a lot of the fruit and veg are on offer at the moment. If you can be shopping online, there's 20% off the finest ones as well, which will bring it down even more.
We picked up some tomatoes. I went for these ones. It worked out cheaper than the baby tomatoes that we usually get.
Then I also picked up some of the VIV potatoes because they were on offer, too. These easy peelers, again, on offer, but they took absolutely ages to scan. It was a nightmare.
But, the younger children really enjoy them, so I had to get them. They're quite safe when it comes to fruit and veg. So, it is apples, oranges, bananas.
We have been lucky to have some lovely weather in Scotland, which means a lot of salads. So, we picked up some of these potatoes, which yes, again, were on offer. They also have the all rounders. They're 65p at the moment.
But again, online, they are even cheaper. You do have to buy five or more, I think, to get that offer.
But we love when things that we already use are on sale.
I ended up getting four bags. We will use two bags for a roast dinner, and then we'll be use the other two bags for some homemade chips.
We are trying to keep the cost of food down where we can, like everyone. It is just coming to so much at the moment. I did pick up one of these meal deal things for when Mark comes in late from work. I can just put that on, and it's super easy.
And only a couple of the children will eat stir-fry. Some of them will eat it, but it's not something that they will all eat. In fact, we used to make the same meal for everyone, and now we have two very fussy eaters. We still try to give them a bit of ever we are making, and sometimes, you know, they will they will eat it. There's certain things like mashed potatoes that they like. So, if we are having a chicken dinner, I just have to make sure that their chicken isn't seasoned.
But for the first time in the whole of motherhood, I am having to make different meals for Sia and May.
If they are not interested in what the rest of the family are eating.
I had also [clears throat] gone in to get some sausages. So, last week, the finest sausages were down to, I think it was £2, maybe £2.20, and I knew I should [clears throat] have stocked up then. I only picked up a couple of packets, but I'd only just seen the offer, and usually they run it for like two to three weeks.
But no, when we came in this week, of course, it had ended.
Morrison's do have their best sausages on offer, too. But again, I don't know how long that is going to last, so I should really stock up. I did just go for the pre-cut lettuce. I find if I do it this way, I know I could do it myself and I should really do it. Something I want to look into is prepping all the food for the children, but if we have that lettuce, then when the older children are making a sandwich or they having a wrap, because it's already done for them, they will throw some in.
Whereas if it's just a whole lettuce, there is no chance that they are going to cut that up to add it to their sandwich.
And they are home at the moment. It's study leave. They've already done some exams. They have more exams coming up this week.
Which means our food bill always goes up. Plus we had the in-service day for voting and of course the bank holiday, too.
So we go through so much more food and have to go shopping more regularly. I didn't end up picking up any mince. They only had like the 5% one. We usually go for the 20% fat one, just because A it's cheaper. B I've used it for absolutely years, so the children are quite used to it.
So that is another thing I will need to pick up online. I only got one packet of burgers. Someone did mention of why why are you only getting four if there's so many of you.
The other children all prefer chicken burgers. There is only my eldest two that will eat cheese burgers. Everyone else just prefers chicken. Which is funny because they don't mind McDonald's or Burger King.
And while I had gone in thinking I was going to do a bit more of a shop, I didn't actually get that much meat. I did get that big packet of chicken, but that's obviously one meal and that will be for fajitas. And then I also got chicken legs. We have some chicken at home, so the chicken legs and that chicken will be for like a mini roast dinner.
Bacon, because again we're having a lot of cooked breakfasts because everyone is at home. So, eggs and bacon and sausage is sort of their lunch or breakfast.
Tesco also have a lot of their baby items on sale at the moment. So, there's on the left-hand side there, there's lots of like dummies and snacks all on sale and reduced rate down. Then, they have cushions and pillows. They also have lots of cosmetics on sale. So, it's definitely worth a look if you were in there.
I'm not sure whether the recording went for that for me to show you.
Next up, we went to go and get some ham.
The children really wanted turkey, but I'm not sure why it is at the moment. We can't find any turkey slices. We did get some after when we went to Asda, but it's quite a few times that Morrison's and Tesco have substituted them.
Yogurt's another thing that we go through so many of and I picked up some of these like pouch ones. We got them substituted at Morrison's a few weeks back and now the younger children really enjoyed them. So, I picked up two packs of those.
Fray Traders, I've not really been picking them up. No Pepperamis and cheese strings, which the children are not very happy about. For A, they cost a lot. B, they've obviously not that good for you, but they were on offer for a pound and they really wanted me to pick them up. We also got that Philadelphia spread because it was on offer. So, I picked up two of those. I couldn't see the garlic and herb one, which is the one that we usually get, but either way, it will get used with toast and then one will go into our pasta meal as well. I was tempted to get those fries, but the Tesco ones are much cheaper and I don't see much difference in them. Plus, we're trying to make our own sides, too.
Orange juice and apple juice. I just got two of the big ones. Again, it's something we're trying to cut down on.
Milkshakes. I was only going to get two of those, but then Neve wanted the banana one. So, we ended up with three of those instead.
And another staple in our house is cheese. We just go through so much of it. Cathedral's on offer, so it worked out to be the best value. I can never see like fully big blocks of cheese in Tesco, and I'm not sure why.
We are going to Farmfoods for this week, so I'll be able to pick up there for a good price. This is also where the reduced dairy is. Didn't get a really good video as there's quite a few people around, and I don't want to get them in it. But again, they had sausages. Even though we'd already picked up sausages, they had the same ones that we'd picked up, and then some of the Cumberland ones, too. Some of the chipolatas, and then some of the other sausages. They were 64p for the ones we'd picked up.
The long sausages were only £1, so we got two packs of those. And then, they also had these crepes. They were down to £2.30. They had the boxes behind us, and I think they're on a club card offer for £4. So, I picked up three packs of these.
That is going to last us a good while, and at that price, I couldn't complain.
By this point, yes, we were running out of time. I completely messed all of the pasta and the sauces.
And because we're going to Farmfoods, I didn't pick up much freezer stuff. I just got three packs of the fish fingers. Again, not everybody eats these, so I only needed three packets of them. It will be for a lunch while the bigger kids are at school. I also got some waffles, too.
I had to run back and get those because I completely forgot about them.
And we may be in May, but they still have reduced Easter eggs there. They're not reduced on that much, which is why I think they are not selling so well.
In the end we got a couple of meals. I will definitely have to do a bigger shop. I just find it easier to do a click and collect if I'm doing that. But this will tide us over until then and then I can obviously use the promotions.
Plus then we did pop to Asda and the food warehouse although I didn't record much in there.
But as always thank you so much for watching.
I hope to have a new video up soon.
