It's like an Englishman trying to read the word "femme" (woman) but not knowing how to spell it. Same with the word "arabe" (Arab), same transformation, "arabe" became "be" and entered the dictionary. Now what do the French say? " Terroriste" (terrorist). It's [laughs] funny shitty language.

[00:05:08]And what's more, "verlant" (backwards slang) exists with English words. I heard someone in Paris say, "Eh, le cla de SP."

It's just that I don't have an accent because I lived in France for five years when I was very little, and when you're very little, you're kind of like a sponge when it comes to accents. So, I don't really have an accent when I speak French, but I make a lot of mistakes because the French language—because even you don't know how to speak it correctly, because I see you French speakers correcting each other.

[00:07:06]It's incredible. If the language is complicated for you, for us it's impossible to master 100%. So, I make mistakes when I speak French, but I don't make the same mistakes as you. I make the mistakes English speakers make, and actually, English speaker mistakes without the English accent, it works because I see you French speakers correcting each other. It's incredible. [00:07:35]And actually, English-speaking mistakes without an English accent just don't fly. And I realized that French speakers don't actually think I 'm an Englishman who speaks perfect French. They think I'm a Frenchman, but a dumb one.

[00:07:50]And people just freeze up in front of me, they make weird faces when I make basic mistakes. Like, I say "une croissant," they'll say, " They don't understand why I look like an idiot." And it annoys me. It really annoys me because I've really tried to make an effort to learn French, and because living in a country when you're very young isn't enough. You have to keep learning and improving. And I decided to study at university in French. And when you do To study in England like that, you have to go for a year to improve in a French-speaking country. Since I'd already lived in France for a while, I wanted to discover something different. So I decided to spend a year improving my French in Quebec.

[00:08:27][laughs] I was warned that it's not the place to improve your [laughs] and I realized very quickly that going to Quebec to improve your French is like going to England to improve your cooking.

[00:08:45]We have [applause] the same ingredients, but we do whatever we want with them.

[00:08:49][laughs] And Quebecers do whatever they want with the French language. It took me three months to understand the accent, the expressions, and at the time, to finance my studies, I decided to take a part-time job at Apple in the Apple Stores. And my position at Apple was the manager of angry customers and angry Quebecers. I wasn't at all prepared for that.

[00:09:10]First day, I arrive, there A guy arrives, he's angry, I can see in his eyes that he's angry. He comes with an iPod in his hand, he comes to see me and he says "Well, just now, I was lost.

Well, um we really love this comedy because actually what he says we could from the first part that we could understand we could a little bit resonate with that.
