Inside The King’s Trust 50th Anniversary CelebrationAdded:
[music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Ladies and gentlemen, please be upstanding for the King's Trust Royal Founding President, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen.
>> [music] >> God save the >> [music] >> Queen.
Long live our noble >> [music] >> Queen.
>> [music] >> God save >> [singing] >> the King.
Send him >> [music] >> victorious, happy and glorious, >> [music] [music] [music] [cheering and applause] [applause] >> Here they come.
Please welcome them back to the stage.
It's the nation's favorite double act.
>> [applause] [cheering] [applause] [applause] >> Uh uh sorry uh sorry that uh sorry. Sorry.
Sorry, Your Majesty. There seems to be there is a terrible mix-up.
Oh, I don't know. I could get used to this. Stop that, you. Stop that.
There's been a mix-up.
>> well, at least for the first time tonight on stage, they know which one's which.
>> Yeah, there is that. There is that, actually. Hold on, if you're down there and we're up here, does that mean we're running the country?
That would be a terrible mistake. I don't know, you know. I've always fancied my head on a stump.
That would have to be a big stump. Shut up.
Shut up, you.
I think we better get back down there.
Yes, we should. Okay, we're coming down now.
Uh ladies and gentlemen, YOUR KING AND QUEEN.
>> [applause] [applause] [applause] >> WELL, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THAT WAS A JOLLY good joke, I thought.
I I I must say I've always wondered whether someone would put Ant and Dec back in their box.
Or >> [applause] >> Or as the immortal Dame Edna Everage used to say, the ashtray.
But there's a little I must say I just must for the for this evening mention that I find it hard to believe that 50 years have gone by since we managed to start this trust in 1976.
And all I can say is it wasn't easy in those days. Quite a lot of people thought it was a very bad idea.
Anyway, we managed it. And what I really wanted to do more than anything else was to invest in the potential and the talents of so many young people who just for the lack of self-esteem and self-confidence found it very difficult to know what to do.
So, with the help of, as you can imagine, a huge number of people including all the wonderful mentors and I remember going around the country in those days trying to recruit these marvelous people and you've heard from one who's done 25 years this evening.
They, and as you can imagine, a huge and growing staff of the Prince's Trust all around the country the sponsors, the donors, everybody, and the ambassadors and ambassadresses.
And these are the people who make the whole thing work.
I can just wave my arms about and hope for the best, but they deliver on the ground. All their hard work has helped so many young people. And perhaps you could imagine now how enormously proud I am of all of them.
Cuz we now have a huge army.
1.5 million young people here and increasingly around the world uh demonstrating what a difference they can make to their communities and indeed to the world generally.
Uh and I can only say that that investment has been amply proved.
And I pray it will go on as long as possible. Cuz you all make a huge difference to this country and many others.
So thank you all of you for the great joy you've brought me.
>> [applause] [applause] >> Thank you.
>> [applause] >> Thank you very much, Your Majesty. Um Thank you, Your Majesty. We're now going to have a special photo tonight with all of this evening's winners. So if we can all get in for a photo.
Look straight ahead and smile.
>> [applause and cheering] [applause] >> Ladies and gentlemen, please be upstanding and put your hands together for the final time for the reason we're all here this evening. The King's Trust and our royal founding president, His Majesty the King and Her MAJESTY THE QUEEN.
>> [applause] >> THREE CHEERS FOR THEIR MAJESTIES King Charles AND QUEEN CAMILLA. HIP, HIP, >> [cheering] >> HIP, HIP, HIP, HIP, >> [applause] >> AND ONE FINAL ROUND OF applause for all OF TONIGHT'S WONDERFUL WINNERS.
>> [cheering] [applause] >> PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY BACK TO your seats.
Thank you very much. Well done, Brandon.
>> [applause] >> Thank you, guys.
