The Romance of a Busy Broker by O. Henry (William Sydney Porter, 1862-1910) is a humorous short story about Harvey Maxwell, a busy stock broker who becomes so obsessed with his work that he forgets his own wedding to his secretary Miss Leslie, which took place the previous evening; the story illustrates that while hard work is important, excessive work obsession can cause people to forget even the most significant life events, teaching that success has real meaning only when balanced with love and human relationships.
