Successful DIY workshop businesses can be built by combining teaching expertise with business development skills, as demonstrated by Heather Bennett who transitioned from teaching to creating a 3,000 square foot studio business by starting with mobile paint parties, adapting to market demands through DIY kits and subscription boxes during challenges like COVID, and developing structured courses (Blueprint) that help makers establish their creative businesses through proper marketing, pricing, and business systems.

The Maker Hour ☕ | Episode 7Added:
Hi friends, it's showtime. I am starting to look forward to the maker hour every week. It is so much fun. If you caught my social media today, I kind of did like a little, you know, uh, collage video of some of the interviews that we've done up until this point. And, um, if you've been here, then you know my urge to tag Crystal and be like, "Okay, fine. It's a podcast. I've come to accept it. [laughter] It's really here."
Okay, so what's going on today? I'm going to go ahead and go through some of the announcements so I don't squirrel and forget. All right. So, we'll start with the first thing that is going on right now and UV inkfest. So, UV Inkfest is happening. Um, actually, you can enroll right now. The event I should know the dates off of the top of my head, but of course I don't. I've got the QR code for you right here. If you take a screenshot and then hold it down, it will open up for you later. This is pretty much for anybody in the um UV printing world. You want to learn all the UV printing things. It's a free conference. You can buy an upgrade ticket so you have unlimited access to all the videos. Definitely worth it, especially since the UV printing world is so it's not a new world, but its presence online and its accessibility to learn is definitely starting to bubble.
Okay. So, if you want to be in the know, check out UV Inc. Fest. That's going on right now. What else do I have to tell you guys? Hi. Hey. Hey. Welcome to the chat. I love seeing you guys in the comments. Okay, what else do we have going on? Mom's File Club this month. If you guys saw yesterday in my um that mom with a laser group, I was asking you guys like what do you like more? I really love the look of the natural wood, but a lot of people ended up voting for the uh the color version. So, in Mom's File Club, let me go ahead and put that widget up for those of you that don't know about it. This is a club where every month, um, I provide files that are scorable for those of you who might be working with a diode and maybe you don't want big engraves. Printable. Ow, I just whacked myself in front of everybody. [laughter] Score files, print files. Um, and we also have engrave files. Basically, we we provide everything in all the different file types. So, this month we have a beautiful eagle and if you want to jazz it up and make it a Americana style, we got this option, too. And then we also have the print version because we can't just be simple here. We have to do it all. We've got a beautiful floral sign here also available for print. And the big whopping 250 door sign. Honestly, there's even more. There's too many variations. I lost track. Amanda and I went down a massive rabbit hole. So, those are all the big announcements that I wanted to share before we get started. So, now I get to bring on my shop mates and our special guests. So, we've got Amanda and Sarah on the other side of the door.
>> Hi, guys.
>> Hi.
>> Hi.
>> And we've got my very special guest. And if you don't know why we are wearing shrimp earrings today, it is in honor of our beloved Heather. Hey, Heather.
>> Hello.
>> Welcome. Welcome.
drive and actually hang out with y'all.
>> Yeah. I love how she's like so over shrimp that she doesn't wear her shrimp earrings, you know, and we we have no excuse to wear them. So, >> look at that.
>> Look at that.
>> At the ready. Well, this is Listen, this is this is how one of the genius ways that Heather has totally like, you know, built a very successful business and capitalized on Fernandina. [laughter] So, okay, I'm gonna >> I'm gonna hush up and um I don't know.
Take it away, ladies. Heather, why don't you introduce yourself and talk a little bit about give them some clue as to why shrimp are such a big deal. How's that?
>> So, yes, I actually don't even eat shrimp, but I um [laughter] and I honestly I used to work at Bubba Gump, so I feel like it's just chasing me. It was in my my blood the whole life. But yeah, Fernadina is the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry. So, one of the >> um we have a huge festival that's been going on for I believe this was the 61st year and it's an artisan festival and every year everyone goes all out for it.
But as you can imagine, finding a shrimp door hanger or shrimp decor is not super prevalent in the stores. And about two years ago, well, three years ago, some people were hanging uh shrimp door hangers on their door, but it was like a cocktail shrimp. It didn't have a head and I thought I was just really [laughter] like a piece of meat like a t-bone steak is going to be up on their door next.
And so there was one day I sat down and I just decided to try to make a shrimp look cute which is not a light task but I created this shrimp door hanger and that year we sold two of them. So I almost retired it and then the next year somebody had asked me about it and um I was like fine I'll do a pre-order. We'll bring it back out. We'll see what happens. And we sold like 410 and now we've sold over thousand. So, um, the shrimp follows me everywhere.
>> And look, here is a picture from the shrimp fest that you guys just did.
>> That's massive. That would give me so much anxiety. I don't know how you do it.
>> It's fun and like it grows every year, you know. Um, but we do two big festivals a year. We do shrimp fest and then we do our Dickens on center which our whole downtown turns into like a Hallmark card and there's silt walkers and all the vendors have to dress in full period gear. Um so we always do a big double booth and now we use the same displays which has helped a lot.
So how many how many Okay, how long is the market if you don't mind me asking?
And how many people do you need to help you run it?
So the market is um three days both well both markets but yeah Shrimpfest is Friday, Saturday and Sunday and um in the past like my team definitely helps a lot in all of the prep and the setup and everything. I last year they had to still run the shop. We weren't a big enough team and so it was just my husband and I working in the booth a lot. This year we were able to um move things around so we had two people in the booth at all times but then we're also running the studio. Um, but we definitely had help. I have four main girls that help me in and out, which is a huge, huge asset.
>> I I swear one of these years I, you know, I want to go and be like your little apprentice, and I just want to help sell everything at the market. I always say I'm going to do it, but then it just doesn't happen. Maybe >> I don't. Well, it's not that. It's just life happens. You know, life happens.
But anyhow, and Amanda this week is leaving me to go to a big event.
I'm sorry I'm leaving you, but I am very excited. I leave tomorrow. I'm going to K&G Jamberee, which is going to be a lot of fun. It's um just like a camp themed maker workshop weekend. And it's my first time going, so I'm super duper excited. And I will be there hosting a laser mat maker workshop. So, we've already sent all the kits out. They should be arriving today. And uh Thursday, I'll arrive. We'll do an early check-in. We have a little uh kind of like meet up for a dinner and then the party starts on Friday.
>> Speaking of Kim and Garrett, I don't For those of you um that follow them, did you guys hear they hit 150,000 subscribers this week? I'm so happy for them.
>> 158,000 >> 58. Oh, excuse me. [laughter] >> Well, I can picture the numbers. So, yes, it was 158.
>> Heather disappeared.
>> It's okay. She'll come back. But I'm really excited for them. So, shout out to Kim and Garrett. Congratulations, you guys. That's awesome. What a great like milestone to have, you know, right before their event, you know.
>> Yeah.
>> See, I totally should come back.
>> Yep.
>> We went on a little hiatus. It was fine.
[laughter] >> Um, and Heather, you know what? Before I forget, okay, because I I definitely We'll mention it now, but I we'll mention at the end. I don't want a squirrel, and I have a big squirrel. I don't know. Squirrels are great. Maybe maybe I need squirrel earrings. I just thought of anyhow. See, I squirreled. I squirreled on my squirrel. Um, [laughter] what did I want to say? Okay, so Heather, all right, so as you can see, like this is not this is not fluff. All right, Heather is the real deal. Okay.
Um, and she's built a very very successful DIY workshop type of business. So, if you're watching and that is a lane that you really want to explore, her blueprint is currently available. Okay. And it's, you know what, can you tell us all about it because I there's so much included I I lose track. Good, good stuff. Lots of good >> good stuff. Good stuff. Right. So, um I do have a studio. I would actually had the door open so you guys could see it, but then you know right when you're about to start recording, that's when everyone starts coming in. So, it's loud up there right now.
>> That's how it goes. Um, but I've been doing this for 11 years now, which is seems crazy. And left teaching, kind of followed the same path. I know I've heard the story so many times where all were teachers and then left the classroom. I started this um >> all four of us today were teachers.
>> Oh wow. See, >> yeah, >> they should do a study on it. Why they need >> Yes. [laughter] >> Um, but anyway, I started this just as mobile paint parties. So that's where I got my foundation. Um, had a lot of background in network marketing. And then a year later, I opened the first studio. And then three years later, we were able to purchase this studio. So, we have a 3,000 foot studio about a mile from our downtown. And when COVID hit, everyone kind of panicked, right? Like, how do you make money when your whole business was built on people coming into your studio? So, we started doing DIY kits, subscription boxes, everything else. And then there was a whole bunch of people that were asking questions and everything else. So, I took all of those questions and all of the information that I've learned through the school of hard knocks and popped it into a blueprint course. Um, and it's grown and ebbed and flowed throughout the years, but now it's six recorded modules, a 100page workbook to really help you stand out from your competitors. And then it leads into our raising makers mastermind, which is a group of just really core ladies that um, everyone's got zip code protection around them. So, we share files, we help each other out, and it becomes >> Wait, wait, wait, wait. We got to explain that. What does that mean? Zip code protection, >> right? So, it's probably like not a good business model on my part because it closes who can all be in the group, but for me, it's not really about the money.
I wanted it to be where whoever was in that group could willingly share and they weren't going to have somebody right down the street from them having the same file access and the same, right, >> um, marketing images and the same blueprints for field trips and summer camps and everything else. So, I just keep a 15 milei radius around every uh member so that way they can really collaborate together and know that nobody's going to step on them their feet.
>> Well, that's very nice of you.
>> It's fun. Well, and it's just it's such a great group. Like they've >> I don't know. I feel like sometimes they pour more into me, but um but yeah, Blueprint starts it all off. And I don't like just giving just information and not acting on it because I don't like 30,000 foot views. And so we every three times a year I jump back into the course and we go through and have Zoom meetings all in groups so I can help answer any questions, apply it to their business and they get me for an hour every Monday. So anyway, those are kicking off again June 1st. So if you're interested uh in starting DIY parties or take and make kits or just really how to make your handmade business stand apart, that's what it's designed for.
Yeah, I have to mention here because a lot of people have seen me um share videos from when I went to even though she had kindly in, you know, invited me for years, I was unable to go until finally this year, she has a maker meetup at the beginning of every year and it was so much fun. And that's where you could really tell that like Heather really has a beautiful tribe that loves her and they're all very much connected.
There's an Angie is the reason Heather and I have have met because for years she's like, "You need to meet her.
You're gonna love her." And she was right. I do love you. Um, so for those of you that are wondering, I get people people still ask me to this day that they'll like go watch my old videos and they'll be like, "How do we go to something like this?" That's this is how you get connected into Heather's universe and she will make sure you know.
>> Absolutely.
>> And you also have another event coming up soon.
Is that like a publicly thing that you want to do?
>> It is. Yeah. I actually just launched the registration today. Uh I'm glad you said that. We have because I have this big studio. Um and have a problem. I might buy machine.
My husband called me a cat lady for l for machines yesterday. He's like, "You're like a cat lady. You just collect machines and want to adopt them all." And I was like, "I do." But I've collected lots of machines and we are blessed to be able to have Iconics PDS and Troek are all coming to the studio July 10th and 11th. Um, and it's all a hands-on workshop. So, you're going to be able to really dive into sand blasting. You can uh learn how to do print and cut with the troek. And then Michael Gas from PDS is going to kind of help us add UV into all of that, too.
So, I absolutely love love love um combining all my machine power in one.
Like I feel like it's Captain Planet like with our powers combined.
>> Yes.
>> You know, so anyway, that event is going to really just be a lot of fun. And I was telling the girls in my mentorship group, uh I'm really excited for it because I don't have like a per se speaking role. So, I can just sit and help people with their Shopify or their questions or answer questions because >> you don't have to do much. You just kind of like facilitate a little bit, right?
>> You're the host, right? Here's food.
Here's coffee. Ask me questions. Tell me I'm pretty, right?
>> I love it. Um Christie, so Christy wanted us to put the link up. It's not clickable on my end. It is. Is it clickable for you guys? [clears throat] Just I just want to make sure. Um and if it's not, remember we learned guys uh when we put the QR code, you can take a screenshot of it and then go into your pictures and hold it down and it's supposed to work. We're, you know, listen, we got to get with the times over here, my friends. Um, I love it.
Okay, side quest. We're kind of gonna shift gears here a little bit. Is that okay?
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Okay.
>> Um Huh.
>> I'm just here for the fun. You just tell me what I'm doing.
>> Well, that that's all we do here is have fun.
>> Exactly.
>> And in five minutes, we're going to have coffee, but I can't make it for you.
Although I did make you your own cafetera, but I didn't teach you how to do it. I need to do that.
>> I know. I'm waiting for the instruction.
I need inperson instruction. You must go.
>> Okay, fine.
>> See, we need more excuses to go to.
Okay. See, Amanda, I was just thinking of you the other day because I was thinking of Heather's pool. This is going to sound so funny, weird to you [laughter] guys.
>> It already does. Keep going.
>> [laughter] >> Well, what was the conversation the other day where I think we were really tired, we were texting and I was telling you all I want to do is hang out at a pool with my girlfriends with a cocktail in a mermaid tail. [laughter] I have this dream like I don't want to be in any mermaid tail. I want to be in like a really like in Florida it's a big thing like we have mermaids everywhere and they have really nice silicone really cool looking real looking mermaid tails. I don't know. Like that to me is like the ultimate like >> we have to do it.
>> Is it a clan of mermaids? I don't know what the proper word is, but we have a whole mermaid. [laughter] >> A pod.
>> Is it a pod?
>> But I was thinking of Heather's pool because Heather's pool and her background is like the perfect mermaid and margarita girls night. That's That's >> I think we just made a date. Oh yeah, [laughter] >> we're all going to Heather's.
>> Sounds like >> mermaids.
>> As mermaids.
>> I love it. I have a question for you, Heather, since you're so good at this stuff. So, >> big news, guys. Although I haven't committed to it, and my husband does not know yet, so [laughter] don't tell him.
Um, you guys know how the painted tree shut down, >> right? And it was like this big depressing thing. Well, the vendors at my specific location, they were doing so well that they decided to rally together um and they are going to rent out the space under a new brand and image. So, they're us they're giving us until tomorrow >> to decide if we want in or not, or else they're going to give away our spot. And oh, we have a laser granny managerie of mermaids. Yeah. [laughter] Um, basically I have to tell them by tomorrow if I want back in and you know I I have I feel some type of ways because you know it's new leadership.
It's going to be a new system. I don't know if it's necessarily going to be any better. I want to be hopeful but there's still risk there. Um anyhow they're going to rebrand it and start it again.
And I'm considering going back in. I think my gazebo is still there. So I I I was so sad because remember the beautiful gazebo I spent all this time making like I didn't have anywhere to take it, so I had to like abandon it.
Anyhow, Sarah >> uh is gonna partner with me. Okay, I was having a hard time keeping up with it.
And uh one of the main things that she's going to be focusing on is personalization for >> the boutique, but again, it's not something we man. So, Heather, this is where I kind of like want to pick your brain.
How would you go about collecting sales for personalization at a painted tree style boutique?
Ready, go. [laughter] So, what I would do is I would on your Shopify because Are you on shop? You're on Shopify.
>> I I am on Shopify now. Yay me.
>> Yes.
>> So, I would have >> But this is this is this is advice for Sarah because we're going to be splitting the space now. Sarah's gonna finally start her own business. Do you have a name yet, Sarah?
>> Yes. I haven't locked it down, but yes, we >> Yes, we haven't done all the things I should be doing, but yes.
>> Don't say it out loud yet. It'll be a great reveal.
>> Okay, ladies. Ladies, no comment on this what I'm about to say, but Sarah, >> you know the dangers of not locking in a name.
>> That's why I'm not saying anything.
Okay.
>> Nothing's Yeah.
>> Just saying. Okay. [laughter] >> Yay, Sarah. So Sarah, how would you how is Sarah gonna do this on Shopify?
>> So yeah, somebody just popped into the comments and said pretty much what I'll do, but basically I would have your example product already there and then just have a QR code or if you want to be really fancy, you can even have like a tap thing, right? You can they have like the >> NFC tag >> that you could tap and they that way they could just go ahead and fill out that order form right on there. So I use Infinite Options. You could use Eify.
You can use Blowbo. There's a couple reasons why I default to infinite options, but um >> Oh, yeah. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Let's go slow here. We got to put that up so everybody knows what she said here.
>> Hold on. Infinite >> infinite options. So, >> options and options with an s >> options.
>> And this is a what? It's an app >> for Shopify, right?
>> App.
>> Yes. In Shopify. So, >> okay. both Easify, Globbo, and Infinite Options. There's a couple others. They all do very similar things. The biggest reason I default to Infinite Options when I'm building websites is because as a maker, I'm always coming up with more things. And so sometimes I want to be able to layer my product options on top of each other without having to create a whole separate set. like I might want my squares, rectangles, and something to be able to add a frame, but I don't want to create a system for everything separate. I'm just lazy. Um, and so that's why I default to that. But I would have a QR code or a tap thing that you're going to really like screw into your display so they don't take it and that way they can just easily fill out a form >> and order it. Um, it depends on your community. For us, we're a lot of tourists, so I would probably just raise my prices slightly so I can have that free shipping and say it'll directly ship to your house so they don't have to come back. Because I know for myself, from a retailer standpoint, if I say, "Oh, I can order it and then come back, that thing's going to sit at that store for six months and I'll never make it back there to pick it up."
>> Um, >> and then when you're not managing it, that they might not want to deal with that in a in a situation. So, I would just raise my prices slightly so I can say it'll be to your house within whatever 7 to 10 days or whatever your turnaround window is, but make it an easy landing page form for each individual product.
>> You guys are great.
>> Oh, Mikey, I love you.
>> I get to be on a panel with Mikey soon.
>> You do?
>> I do.
>> How fun. When? Where? Tell us what's this panel that we >> next level. I think we're on a panel together. Well, you said soon, but my mind is still >> August and September.
>> Shush. First, I have to get through Laser Maker Con, which by the way is the laser maker con plug that I forgot to tell you guys about. [laughter] And if you don't know what we're talking about, Laser Maker Con. Yay. So, this is the um Hold on. Where's that comment?
I'm going to take it down for a minute.
Laser Maker Con is the conference. It's a virtual conference that yours truly hosts every year and it's coming up very very soon. So if you want to get on the wait list because you don't want to miss any of the notifications, then you need to go to laserbaker conto.com like yesterday. Okay? You got to go there and get on the wait list because it's coming up. Heather's going to be one of our Can I tell you? So, right now the speakers are like they're all in like they're freaking out because their videos and all of their stuff is due tomorrow and [laughter] they're putting the fear of God in all of them.
>> Friday is tomorrow.
>> I thought it was Friday. No, the >> Friday.
>> Friday. [laughter] >> It's okay. Tell them tomorrow.
>> Tomorrow. I'm Listen, I AM JUST TELLING THEM as often as I can because listen.
Okay, see [laughter] sorry I need to scare you Diane or Mikey. Let's see. I'm pausing finalizing. That's right. You need to you can come back and watch the replay Mikey.
>> No, Mikey. I can't chat otherwise I'd be chatting with Mikey all day.
>> Yay. Tammy signed up. Okay. So, sorry.
It's really hard not to squirrel when you have squirrelike tendencies and you're trying to show people's comments and get a thought through at the same time.
>> How do we hide the infinite option?
>> Oh, again that's that's my problem. Hold on.
>> There we go. There we go.
>> Where was I? Oh, okay. So, well, here's the thing. It's now year three, okay?
And I have in the past had people, no lie, submit their videos to me like 24 hours before everything goes public. So, I have a little bit of like trauma myself. So, I just figured the more I repeat it, the more likely we get a higher ratio of people getting things in on time. Um, and I squirreled because everybody is a lot of people are sending me like sneak peeks of their video. And Heather, I wake up at 5:30 in the morning. She messaged me a sneak peek of her thing and I don't know, it was like midnight or like 1 in the morning. What are you doing up, woman? But I gotta tell you, it was so good. so good that I told her it. It really is the best one that she has done yet.
>> That's exciting.
>> Yeah. Like because Riley Black um John from Riley Black Project made me finally get a new camera. So I finally have my gimbal. So I'm like >> there you go.
>> Otherwise I was shoving my phone like in my mason jars and like you know >> Well, but it's not I mean the camera quality is good but that's not what I noticed. It was everything else. So, get on the wait list. Don't miss out. It's going to be a great year. Um, we have one too many speakers this year.
>> What? Oh, it's coffee time. Okay, I'm gonna go over there. You guys take it away. [laughter] What are we taking?
>> You're welcome here.
>> So, yeah, I'm gonna >> I have to speak on Shopify or LMC. I always rotate on what I'm speaking, but I'm speaking on Shopify. So, I recorded all the like >> in studio things on what how you can sell your laser files three ways. Um, but now I have to do the computer part.
And I was laughing with Emily yesterday because I feel like every time I'm recording for LMC, I'm somewhere else.
So, I actually leave to Mexico on Friday. So, I think I'm going to be finishing up then. So, >> what are you going to Mexico for?
So super sweet. My um I asked my kids they could go anywhere for their summer vacation and they wanted to go back to my grandma's time share like their great grandma. Um so my grandma is uh well she says she's 70 plus tax but I think the tax rate is [laughter] pretty high at this point. I'm just can't say that publicly. Um and so she's actually flying here right now. I pick her up right after this and then we leave all together. So they get to be with their >> fun plusy grandma. So that'll be awesome. A >> but all this is all this to say that every time it's LMC and because you know she knows I love her to death.
>> We're always down to to the wire here.
>> That's okay.
>> I know it's because it's right after >> the hardest part and the hardest part was freaking good. Just saying.
>> Yeah. I Well, the hardest part that is the hardest part. Teaching Shopify is easy. Um I have the Digi Osmo Pocket 3.
I probably said that all out of order, but I know [laughter] Pocket and Three are all in the title.
Those numbers.
>> Is that the same one you have?
>> That's what we Who do you think Crystal and and John learned about it from?
>> Yeah. But I really like it. It's It's been really easy. And my uh my son does a podcast for um Salt Marsh Music Kids, which is a local event around here that teaches kids how to do live music. So, they run a podcast and interview all the kids after stage. So he's always running around um taking his little shots. So all the kids think it's now I need to get him his own.
>> So but yeah, >> I'm starting to smell the cafeito brewing.
>> It's just the It's just the grind the grounds. Wow.
>> Can you smell it through the through the screen, my friend? No.
>> I don't understand how we're not there yet. Like I thought we were supposed to be in Jetson's era and like we could just pass things through. [laughter] That would be >> that would have been fun.
>> Um, >> people want to be on here for cafeto and good conversation.
>> So, Amanda, I'm super jealous that you're going up to Kim and Garretts.
They had asked me to speak and I was like, I'll be in Mexico.
>> Were you there last year?
>> I didn't. No.
>> Last year was their first year. I was I was so excited to go and then I realized my dates all lined up. Too much fun, not enough time.
>> Well, I know they're they're gonna have a lot of content sharing, so maybe you could just enjoy it and be a part of the content and then get your tickets and plan for next year. Emily's going to plan to visit you for Shrimpfest and you're gonna plan to visit Kim and Garrett for their jamberee next year.
>> I'm gonna listen, I wanted to go this year, too, but I I couldn't make it. So maybe next >> I think we should just I mean really by the time you do that right so you have shrimp fest in Fernadina and then we can go up to Kim and Garrett's that takes up like the end of May. I'm sure there's some kind of conference in June and July that we could just have like caravan and just go around because then we can go to next level UV energize just rotate.
>> Yes, we just need four bus and hold on >> what? Okay, too many thoughts. My thoughts are thinking too many things.
Okay, >> start with one >> one. Okay, Laser Maker Con is from the 20 June 25th to June 27th and we have the kickoff call the night before. Um, and the Thank you, Mikey. I know >> Mikey, when are you coming on the show?
You got to wear the bison if you show if you come on the show. Um, the other thought, where did my thought go, ladies?
>> I don't know.
>> We were talking about our world tour.
Well, you know, that's kind of how I ended up not going this year because I remember my thing at the beginning of the year was say yes to less and my life is way less stressful and I'm getting way more done. So, not that I don't want to go, but there is way more peace and balance. I go to sleep like at a decent time. So, there's that, too. So, as much as I would love to go on a tour, you know, >> Mikey said we got times.
>> Robbie's asking, "What's the learning curve like in using laser software?" Um, it's I think if you have a background in any sort of design or like drag and drop, it's not too bad. Like there's so many tutorials out there.
Um, and I guess the question is which laser software are you looking at? Is it like >> it gets a lot easier if you were subscribed to that mom with the laser on YouTube.
>> I hear she's got a good course, too.
>> I hear Laser Launch Academy is open.
>> It's currently closed for enrollment at Oh my gosh. Wait, I'm gonna miss I'm gonna miss my window. Okay, sorry. Get back to the question you were asking before I keep getting distracted.
You sure?
>> Yeah. Sorry. [laughter] >> I think the question was which laser software are you talking about? Is it something like LightBurn that operates your machine or are you talking about um like Xtool Creative Suite or um an external type of design software like Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape. There are so many. Um, but yes, I highly recommend Laser Launch Academy and that Mom with a Laser's YouTube channel because there's a ton of tutorials um and joining her Facebook group. Like in in addition to what she's sharing, there's a lot of people in her community who will share things as well and they're all great with helping you out.
So, what's the learning curve like?
Super short if you're here with us.
>> Um, or you could learn it on your own.
when I started. So, Heather has um the blueprint >> which will definitely help with your learning curve, but when I started >> for business, right?
>> For business. Yeah.
>> Okay. So, Laser Launch Academy will definitely help shorten your learning curve. When I started, I was just reading a bunch of blogs for specific things I was trying to do, like how do I make my own heart shape in Illustrator?
How do I make a football shape? Um, how do I make a 90 degree angle into a curved angle or rounded edge or something like that? So, I started by looking up super specific design things I was trying to accomplish and I stumbled across a bunch of really great blogs. I started following those people.
I was watching a bunch of YouTube videos and I was also learning a lot by trying and failing with my laser. So, um I know one of the main goals that a lot of us makers have now is when we started all this content did not exist, at least not in a beginner user friendly way.
So there's so much content out there and if you're following the right people, you know, even if you don't necessarily subscribe to any particular paid thing.
Um, you have there are so many great resources and people out there who genuinely want to help because they know what it was like in the beginning when they didn't have those resources.
>> I got it.
>> That's exactly right. Amanda like the wild wild west, you know, 10 11 years ago. I remember just finding one person like have a small tutorial on painting wooden signs and I'm like thank god I watched that you know so many resources out there and I know for me I design in Illustrator and when I was first starting my biggest nemesis was text on a path on a circle like to get it inside and it was like eye opening when I realized that was one button.
>> So magical. Yes. [laughter] >> How many times did I fight it?
>> Um I'm gonna chime in here really quick.
Robbie, can you let us know specific?
>> No, he's What? What did he let us know?
>> I was thinking more like Lightburn as I'm about to launch my own business in the UK. Okay, so you have I'm going to assume you have not purchased a laser yet, correct?
Let me know in the comments. And the reason that matters, it depends on what route you Everybody's Guys, thank you for all the shout outs. I appreciate it.
But not to like let anybody down, enrollment's currently closed. I'm sorry, but if you attend Laser Maker Con, there might be, you know, like a sweet deal kind of thing, you know.
>> Side note.
>> Okay, back to answering your question though. It really depends on where you see your laser business going. I am a big advocate for LightBurn software and one of the main reasons is because it is a software that will grow with you um as you grow. Okay? Because um Xtool has creative space, which is great, but you were limited to the size of their biggest CO2 laser. So if you find that your business grows and you need to get a bigger machine, now you kind of have to go backwards because now you have to learn a new software. Whereas if CO2s is going to be like one of the main things that you do, you know, then you would you wouldn't have a problem expanding or getting bigger machines because you already know the software. Now makers were very resilient and with the industry growing so fast we are forced to learn a bunch of different softwares whether we want to or not because there's this constant rat race to keep up with the next big thing which I'm actually talking about on my video that is already recorded and scheduled for next Tuesday my friends.
Ah, so that's why I mean I just say Lipurn's great. You can grow, it can grow with you. Creative space if you go the X tool route, it's going to be easier. The learning curve is is shorter because it's so userfriendly. It is limiting though in the things that you can do in the software and in the growth if you go beyond the PS3, right?
For a while, but never had time to attend. So this year hopefully I will make time. Yeah, for sure. Tammy, hello.
So, I hope that helped. Robbie, >> someone asked this specific question if anyone can help. I don't know how to say that brand. I own a Gwicki Pro.
>> Gwiki.
>> Gwiki.
>> I don't know how to help you with it, but I know somebody who is an expert with it. So, if you can email me at hello@ thatmomwithal laser.co, I will get you in contact with them.
Okay. Actually, I might maybe see if I can find it right now.
>> Someone wants to hear about the earrings again. I'm sorry they joined late, but I think we should just talk about the big big shrimp energy Heather is bringing today.
>> Can I We're gonna Can we go in the studio?
>> Can you take us there? Yes.
>> Oh, the studio is a place all >> Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait, you got to pause right there.
>> Why?
>> How is she walking around with her DJI and it's not connected?
>> I'm not. You're on my computer right now.
>> Oh, okay. Switch cameras.
>> Like, I need to know these skills.
So yeah, we have all the shrimp.
>> Elizabeth's packing maker boxes.
>> It's so wonderful.
>> You're on YouTube.
>> Hi.
>> Show you guys this year's shrimp earrings.
>> Aren't they cute?
>> Pretty.
>> They're printed.
>> So pretty.
>> Yes.
I love all the things you're doing with your UV printer. It's beautiful.
>> I know. It's so fun.
>> Um >> Yeah.
>> Yeah. So, this is this is the studio, the main room, >> and all the shrimp. And then there's more shrimp. Sorry, you guys are getting Blair Witch Project. There's more shrimp there. There's the personalization station, of course. Stuffies. I mean, it's a little bit of everything here, but yes, that's the shrimp world. So, we have shrimp earrings of all types. We even have shrimp wine shops.
>> Hopefully, that helps, Wanda. We are showing off our [snorts] shrimp spirit today.
>> Oh, I had a couple questions in here. I was trying to join the YouTube so I could comment, but it's not letting me comment. Um, avid supporter of any maker on here. I just looked at blueprint.
What course should I start with, y'all?
Well, I'm gonna say blueprint obviously, but um it really is >> for selling blueprint for learning the laser laser launch academy. Yes. And right now blueprint is open for enrollment.
>> If blueprint has nothing really to do with laser design at all, it's really just your foundations in business because it's all fun to create pretty things, but if you don't know how to market them, sell them, and push them out there, then you're just going to have a lot of pretty things sitting in your house. Um, so that's really what Blueprint's all about.
>> Would you say it's for creative businesses?
>> I think especially Blueprint, it leans almost just towards creative businesses.
There's there's a little bit of like how to do a paint party in there, but for the most part, it's setting up your website, your social media, defining your core values, your brand expectations, how to set policies within your business, so you're watching your pricing, right? like we all underpric.
We all are guilty of, you know, pricing ourselves out of business really. Um, so it's a lot of structure your business mindset. Um, and then it leads into, like I said, mastermind, which most of us are mobile or DIY workshop studio owners, but there's so much training in there just on marketing and Canva and Shopify and everything else. there's enough for even if you never plan to do a party, there's probably enough in there for it. Um, but yeah, I don't know if that answers your question.
>> I say it does. Laser Launch Academy for learning your laser, learning how to work with your laser and blueprint for starting your creative business or so.
Would you say a majority of the people who will sign up for Blueprint are those who are looking to start their business the right way or they have already started a business and they're like, "Okay, I need guidance."
Right? So, we have the gamut. Like I've seen I have some awesome ladies that have been running businesses for 10 years but are still pulling information out of it because it's all about those systems and your standard operating procedures. How are you going to structure? How are you going to get your website to collaborate with the fact that we can make anything really, but it's still got to be marketable to your customers. And so that's really where it started out where it was really all about just paint parties. But I think that whole world has just expanded and it's expanded for me too. I mean with having all the machines I can do all the things right. So my team [clears throat] in the studio pretty much runs on its own now. So I'm still leveling up into the different areas of just handmade business.
>> Amazing.
>> Yeah. And I want to kind of >> Yeah. Heather, look how cool this is. I can talk to you over here.
>> Oh, but those the camera's not the camera to follow you actually.
>> Oh no, >> you might.
>> Well, could you imagine a camera that also was not your phone like the DJI and you could walk around with? I would lose it. Anyhow, back to the what I was going to say is that one of the one of the wonderful things about Blueprint is not not not only does Heather give you >> invaluable insight?
[laughter] >> What if we both go opposite ways?
>> The the community is incredible. Okay, >> they're all very helpful. And in blueprint you have like she said you know you have people that are just getting started to even seasoned makers there who also end up becoming wonderful wonderful mentors as well um under the toutelage of everything that they've lost they've learned from from Heather and Heather does those live sessions. So there is an element of onetoone coaching even though it's in a group setting. So, at least from an outsider looking in, you know, I get to I get to kind of peek in. She lets me be nosy. Um, she does a beautiful job of catering to everybody's needs from the beginner to even this the most seasoned uh maker. So, >> Angie's in the chat here. I see her um popping in. But Angie's been with me all I think we're in our sixth year of doing it. and it's it's ebbed and changed and grow grown over the years, but um the foundation is always the same just that I want to make sure that the information is out there and easily access so everyone can have success and you don't have to dig through hours of YouTube videos and everything else. It's all in one central hub. I'm so jealous right now. I saw that.
>> So sorry that was a cheers to you though.
>> A guilty. So last year, every year we put together these um speaker gift boxes where we make a little something and we send it off to our speakers. And last year we fiber engraved a bunch of um espresso makers, >> but I didn't have enough time to make them a little tutorial. So I gifted it to them and I was like >> around. [laughter] >> I was promised a tutorial.
>> But I have to teach her how to use it.
>> No, you have to teach Matt how to use it. I will I bet Tucker will want he'll become a little a little expert.
>> Laser people, maker people.
>> I agree.
>> I think the creative community is um pretty amazing >> as a whole.
>> I don't want to go anywhere.
>> Yeah, >> I know. Okay, so this is random, but I when we were planning the uh maker hour in the early days, I was like, what do we talk about? Like whatever. I like the fact that we don't script it and I don't have any questions really scheduled. Um, but I thought of something. Remember I used to say we need to talk about the kind of shows that we like, >> TV shows. Yeah. I know this is so random, but it was Mother's Day weekend.
So, I forced myself not to work. As a matter of fact, our guest from last week, Heather, I'm sorry, >> Robin.
>> Robin Marsh, she made a post yesterday something about like >> she didn't work.
>> She didn't work the whole weekend. And if if you know what if you know what it's like to work 24/7, that's like a remarkable thing.
>> And I I was able to agree with her because I intentionally for Mother's Day weekend didn't want to work.
>> So I got to binge shows >> and I have a movie you all need to watch if you have access to Netflix or some something else. But it's called >> Hold on.
Remarkably Bright Creatures. It's based off of a book and it's about this octopus >> named Marcellis. Is it a TV show? No, it's a movie and it's so heartwarming.
So, if you need something to like turn off your brain, this is your weekly recommendation. Per mom.
>> Okay.
>> Maybe I'll read the book with my food.
>> Yes, it is. It is a beautiful story.
Like, it's totally worth it.
>> What?
>> Remarkably beautiful.
>> Oh, see, look, Diane's read it. It was great. See, >> not a sad book.
>> No, no, it's it's beautiful. It's not It's It's a good happy sad, right?
>> Remarkably beautiful. What?
>> No. Remarkably bright, intelligent, smart. I I don't know >> all the things.
>> Bright creatures.
>> Okay, great job.
>> High potential. All about high potential. I'm with you there.
Remarkably bright creatures. I'll have to find that.
>> High Potential is the name of the show.
>> Yes. It's about like basically an ADD savant lady who ends up being like a consultant for the police. And it's >> and where can we watch it?
>> Where can we catch it?
>> It might be Hulu. Could be Netflix.
[gasps] >> That's funny.
>> It's called The Other Ben.
>> I just binged that, too.
>> Because Heather, >> it's so good.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> It's so good. It's about um Jane Austin, right? The one sister that's like not the the the pretty popular one. She's like the smart book nerd. It's so good.
That's another one for sure.
>> Oh, it must have been about the smart.
>> I told you I intentionally did not work this weekend though. I listen I intend it was my whole Mother's Day weekend. I didn't work and I just binged shows. It was so funny because I was like I was like, "Mom, you need to watch this.
You're gonna like this." She's always asking me. I'm like, "I never have time for shows." But I found a bunch of them.
>> That's awesome.
>> I just I came home from working the sealass workshop at the Ritz because we contract out there all the time. And Matt was like, "What are we doing for Mother's Day?" And I thought we were going to do all these projects. And usually I climb inside my thunder laser and clean it on Mother's Day. I don't know why that seems [laughter] because I can make people help me. And so that was the plan, but it was going to rain and I didn't want to go. So literally we left the Ritz, stopped at Lowe's for Home Defense, and I looked at them, I said, "Let's go to Epic Universe."
>> So we booked booked tickets. And I came home, I said, "Okay, kids, I have your mommy to-do list for the weekend." And they're all like, "Okay, whatever." And I was like, "You got 10 minutes to pack.
Let's go." And so it was crazy.
>> Awesome.
>> That's awesome.
>> Be there. But now I'm behind on getting Emily my stuff and [clears throat] >> oh, >> you know, all the things.
>> I have till Friday.
>> Well, she's lucky what she sent me was so freaking good because I I couldn't complain. Like, I swear it's gonna be good.
>> That was the stressful part. So, we're good.
>> Donna, if you haven't seen The Four Sights, that's another one I binged this weekend. Was really good.
>> You had a lot of bing time. Good for you, bro. I did nothing, bro. And somehow I still managed to finish the video for next week and scheduling. It's ready to go.
>> Content queen over here.
>> Yeah, >> I did. I got some my scheduling all done >> before I leave, I think.
>> The whole month.
>> Heather needs She's the only I know. I was like, I should have got my Celsius.
Um, yeah. Well, because I have the coaching pages, mastermind blueprint, the community all to run and then Paisley Grace. So, I think I got two weeks out in most of them, which is pretty good.
>> Yeah, some people are just kind of winging it every day.
>> That's what we do here. What do you mean? Yeah. You know, just saying leave room like I'll plan content, but then I always leave room in the content for the random stuff that I decided to do. Like right before this, we rearranged our suncatcher wall and so I posted that out. But >> squirrel energy.
>> We got to hide all the nuts so we can find them and plant.
>> Oh my gosh, there's a squirrel. So I was on the phone with Danny. He was out of town. He's coming back into town today.
>> I was on the phone with >> Nobody knows who's Danny.
>> Danny is my honey.
>> There we go. Okay.
>> Um, so I was talking to him and I was looking out the window. I was like, "Oh, squirrel." Like as a joke. And then I saw it had a nut in its mouth and then it started burying like burying it in the backyard.
>> You named it Emily.
>> Yes.
>> Burying his nuts. Did you record it?
>> I didn't cuz I was on the phone with my honey.
>> Okay. [laughter] >> But I thought that was so cute. I'm like, "Oh my god, he's about to build a forest in our backyard." [laughter] >> I hope that's what you guys think of now.
>> It is all the forest.
Um, >> I was gonna say something to someone.
>> Squirrel. See, >> it's our fault. Sorry.
>> Talking about planning ahead. Talking about winging it every day.
>> Say, if you're in mastermind, there's like 4,000 contents in there. You can just download and you could get a whole year ahead.
>> What?
>> Yeah.
>> That's amazing.
>> Basically, if I make it, I just put it up as much as I can. Sometimes I forget to put it up. that Angie's in the group.
She's like, "Heather, you have to put this up. Heather, you have to put this up in the hub." So, >> that's one of those things that I think a lot of makers like, they just miss out on because it we're constantly making things. So, it's in theory, it's actually kind of easy to make content because we're constantly making stuff, but they forget that step, which is recorded, push record.
>> There are those who record a ton, take a bunch of photos, and then it just sits there.
>> I know you guys my life changing moment on this that I did yesterday. So, we put all of our my team, this is your tech help for the day >> because I do have a team and I hate when my phone gets stuck with like all my business photos and then I go to show like my kids and I'm like, "Oh, wait."
Right after the laser and all of them.
Um, so because I have a staff and I want them to have content all the time, we all operate in photo circle, which I know you could do like shared albums on Google, this that the other, but Photo Circle is free. I can create all these different circles. So I have them for all the events that I've had. But my team drops three pictures and three videos in here every day and they all do. So that helps a lot of content. But I even upload my own photos in there because then what I did yesterday and it was great. I went to the photo circle on the web, which I pay a dollar a month to be able to access it on the web. And I select them all. It downloads them into a zip folder. Then I just popped over to Cap Cut and did auto cut on all their templates. And I had like 13 reels in less than 15 minutes.
>> Wow.
>> Photos.
>> I need to try this.
>> Photos or videos? It was like a combo of both.
So, like the shrimp one that I sent you yesterday, >> literally I took I took all of the photos and videos that they had added from Shrimpfest, just downloaded them in a zip file, went to Catput, threw them in a template, and then I was done. Okay, >> that one up.
>> Oh, Heather, I have something for you here.
>> Should we do a discount code?
I mean, >> I think we should.
>> That's up to you. I think >> we'll do it.
This is >> Go ahead.
>> Immediate. Let's see. Automat discount.
Let's call it maker hour. And we're gonna say >> her video's frozen, but her sound is not. Is that just me?
>> It's because I switched screens.
>> Oh, okay.
>> Hold on. Okay.
Oh, hold on. Ah.
Is something weird going on or is it me?
>> She said she switched screens which is why she's frozen.
>> Heather froze.
>> No, she partially frozen.
>> Okay. They wanted a discount code, so I made them a discount code. Okay. For one day.
>> Oh, good. Because I was just gonna Hold on. I was just going to say Rory, if there's anybody who should get one, it's Rory who has been here >> along with Donna from day one. These two have been like top fans here at the Maker Hour. Just got to recognize >> let me if you >> if you use the code I did this because I love Emily and I love you all. If you use the code maker hour for one day, so this is like you have to just >> timesensitive.
>> Timesensitive. who jump off a a cliff and we're going to build the parachute on the way down together.
>> Yes. [laughter] >> If you use the code maker hour, you're gonna save $50 off.
>> NICE.
>> SWEET.
[applause] >> THAT'S AMAZING.
>> Thank you, Heather.
>> I love hours. Even Paisley like watches it. I think she probably just text me like, "Where's the link?" Oh, no. She just text me.
>> We don't have a squirrel in the backyard. We have a turtle. Oh, >> you have a lot of things in the backyard that I'm sure that that backyard is full of critters, >> otterters, turtles, foxes, >> I mean ship. I meant to say >> thank you.
>> Wow. Glitch, >> which the ship came out of my mouth. I don't know why. [laughter] Okay, I'm I'm trying to pull up your video that you did on Cap Cup, but I don't know how to share it on Streamyard. But if you guys don't mind holding tight while I >> figure it out, >> try to do cool things or learn. I think I can screen share.
>> Yeah.
>> And I can allow screen share.
Here we go. Does Can you guys see that?
>> And we're all on the side. So, here's this is this is what you did, right?
This was cat.
>> Let me make Is there sound? I don't know if we'll hear.
>> Oh, yeah. Because I did the puno. I did the friendliest shrimp in town.
>> I don't know if it'll >> Can you hear Can you hear the sound?
>> No. You probably have to select share sound, but it's okay.
>> Oh, wait. No, this is the time to learn because I'm with my people and they're cool if I get it wrong. So, give me two seconds.
>> I know like in Zoom I have to click share sound before share my screen. So you might have to unshare your >> remove it.
And then when you go to share, look for something that says like share sound. I don't know if it's like Zoom, but Okay.
Two seconds.
>> Video file.
>> Rory, sign up.
[laughter] >> Wait, could you hear that?
>> Yeah.
>> Yes.
>> Okay, here we go. [music] Bakery, come and paint your friendly shrimp. Making part [music] of your family. Oh yeah, we got the friendliest shrimp in town hanging on every door around. So come on [music] in. Come get one. Let your front porch join the funk.
[music] >> That's perfect. That's kind of long though. It's really cute. Yeah, that one I did make it shorter when I actually posted it. I deleted half of it, but um >> yeah, it was quick. I just downloaded So, photo circle, download, cap cut, auto cut, done. You get a whole bunch.
>> Cap cuts one. Do you do cap cut on the computer or on your phone?
>> I'm like an old lady. I hate doing anything on my phone. So, I do cap cut on the computer, but I do everything on the computer. Like sometimes when you text me, Emily, and then she sits there and she's like, "Oh my gosh, you haven't responded back." I'm like, "Because I'm by my phone and not my computer." I hate typing on my phone.
>> That's funny. I don't like it either. I prefer the computer for most things. But anyhow, um Heather's Yeah.
>> H I don't do a lot of I don't do like coaching videos on YouTube. I should um but I don't. I just have Paisley Grace Makery, but we just do our like tutorial videos for our Maker Box up there. But that's not fair. You should also mention your f So, she's more active on Facebook and her your raising is raising makers open to the p you have a group that's open to the public, right?
>> Yes, the raising makers community is open to the public and that's free and I still share stuff in there. I try every day, but at least like three, four times a week. Um, let me link hints and trips and tricks in there. So, if you're like not quite ready to jump off the cliff and save on blueprint, that would be a good place to connect with me because that's where I'm more active.
>> Here, I'm going to link it right here if you want to join her in the Facebook group.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah. So, chop jump into the community and I'll I'll let you in. And what I'll do is when I do a recap next week in my weekly newsletter, here's another plug there, my friends. If you're not connected to mom's weekly newsletter, you're missing out. It's getting really good. Who's been following the newsletter and likes getting it? Although, okay, there there's the [laughter] QR code, by the way. Um, can I tell you something funny?
I don't know what I did, okay? But one of one of my like pages where people subscribed to the channel somehow got corrupted and my email provider kept changing everybody's name. So, I kid you not, for the last week, like today, Mark emailed me or was it yesterday? He's like, "Who's Stacy?"
because it said, "Hi, Stacy." And so, it was like renaming people. It was the weirdest thing. So, if you got an email without your incorrect name, I promise you it was not me. It was I don't know something weird but I think we got it fixed.
>> How fun to have a potato festival. We don't have anything. [laughter] We don't have anything >> or could be entertaining.
>> I mean we have a lot of festivals down here in South Florida, but I don't think we're known for any one big thing, you know?
>> Yeah.
>> Is it like all potatoes like sweet potatoes, red potatoes?
>> I don't know.
Potatoes.
>> Are we Are we like, you know, discriminatory on potatoes?
>> I don't know.
>> No. Chips.
>> Fries.
>> All potatoes and all tacos are completely equal.
>> Yes.
>> What What's the discount code again?
It's maker hour or the maker hour?
>> Maker.
>> Maker.
>> Oh, it's Gary.
>> That sounds like UPS. Do you want me to get it?
>> Do you have anything for him?
>> No. I'm going to take him a little Coca-Cola.
>> Okay, >> I'll be right back.
>> Okay, >> Woody. Woody is in security mode.
>> He's like stranger danger.
>> Sweep up.
>> Come right back.
>> So, oh yeah, and don't forget if you guys are anywhere near me, well, you could fly too, but especially if you're like Georgia, Florida, sign up for Fire Inc. Blast on in July because I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I'm not doing a lot for it.
>> Fire Inc. blast.
>> Yeah, we named it fire in blast because you get to play with the blaster, the laser, and >> when is it again?
>> July 10th and 11th. And I just put registration up for it. So, we can only fit probably 50, maybe 60 in here without sitting on top of each other.
Um, I want time to >> space to play with all the machines. Um, >> they're literally, this is how awesome PDS is, guys. Michael for the second time. My mamaki isn't at the house. It's or at the shop. It's over at my house.
Um because I filled up here so I have to use my house too. And um they actually go get the mamaki from my house and bring it to the studio.
>> And so they get it for my maker hour or my maker meetup and then they're doing it again in July. So they've moved they moved the whole thing.
>> That's awesome.
>> They're the best. Um, so that is mimaki inkjet.com for those of you that are looking for.
>> See that printer over there to the left right behind Amanda?
>> Um, that's the company she's talking about is PDS equipment. They're amazing.
Funny story. So Gary is our our UPS guy.
I like to call him G Bear because he's like, >> he's like a teddy bear, but he's so nice.
>> Um, [clears throat] Amanda, so he I just I came out. I brought him the Coke and he was so excited about it. He's like, "This one's for you." And I'm like, "I got a package." He's like, "Yeah, see I like it, too. [laughter] There's a mermaid festival in Alaska.
>> I was about to say the same thing. Like we can't have mermaids and margaritas in cold water. How does that happen?
>> Mermaid Managerie. That's like mermaids.
[laughter] >> I want pictures, Tammy. I'm gonna look it up. I want to I want to look up this.
Uh >> I'm wearing a sweater here. I could I don't know. [laughter] >> No.
>> Yeah. We're all in Florida and I'm sitting here like >> all Spuds welcome. [laughter] >> Okay, so we are coming up on an hour here. I'm going to leave you guys with a few things before we wrap it up. Number one, I just want to share this story because as makers I I don't think I ever really I mean I've always been nice to like my delivery people, but you really I don't know about you, but you grow an affection for them. Like they they your business depends on these people that come and pick up your packages every day, right? and I don't have a lot of packages going out because I haven't been doing the shop for a while, right?
I I transitioned everything to the painted tree, whatever. Amanda shows up and next thing we know, we have a UPS guy showing up all the time. And can I tell you, >> Gab Bear seemed a little hardened in the early days, >> but I mean, I would just listen to the conversations and like we would roll up the big what do you call that?
>> Bay door.
>> Bay door. Yeah, >> the bay door. And Amanda would push up her cart with all her with all her packages and you would just hear her.
Amanda's so kind. She's so sweet that I don't think Gear Bear could resist the sweetness that is Amanda. And now he is like the nicest guy. But I think he just reserves it for us. Like >> Yeah.
>> It's like it's it's like the one part of the day where he like has a really big smile on his face is when he comes by our little place here. So to hear that he likes >> all of us. Yeah, >> it was nice.
>> Okay, guys. So, to wrap things up, there is a timesensitive discount for the Maker Hour guests. All right. And that that code, hold on, let me put up >> um Heather here. If you want to join Blueprint and you want business coaching from a multi6figure successful person, she is no fluff. I tell this to the world all the time. and you want the real deal, it's Heather Bennett, my friends. Okay, so she has a discount for you called >> Maker Hour. When you go to that QR code right there, okay, join her Facebook community. All right, you're going to fall in love with her just like I did, it just you just can't you can't help it. All right. Um, what else do we have going on? That's pretty much it. If you're going to the jamboree, snap. If you are in the maker hour and you go to the jamboree, you better take a photo with Amanda and tell us all about it.
>> Yes. Take take a workshop with me. Come take photos with me and we'll have a good time. I know they have um I think Saturday night they have something called the jammy jam party and I thought it was >> Is it in jammies?
>> That's what I thought. That was my thought. Like are we supposed to wear pajamas? But I don't think it's a pajama party. I think it's just called the jammy jam. So, I'm like, what if I just show up in my pajamas? Anyway, >> you should >> make it a thing. [laughter] >> Yeah, >> I know. When we do our maker our maker meet up, like we have our things and then everybody just gets in jammies and I swear they're in that room until 2 or 3 in the morning talking.
>> They are.
>> Listen, these these women party. My goodness. [laughter] >> I I would go and you know, here's the thing because I'm like I'm helping out.
I'm speaking. I'm doing panels and whatever. So, I didn't really get to hang out with them. So, one night I was like, "Screw it. I don't have anything else." Like, I I don't think I had my speech or anything the last day. So, I I went into that room to go hang out with them. Next thing I know, I made my little TM. Oh, let me show everybody.
Hold on.
>> I think you need jammies.
>> Yeah.
>> You should like custom jammies that say like Kim and Garrett all over them.
[laughter] >> Yes.
>> You get their faces.
>> Maybe next year. Their faces. Their faces all over it. Yeah.
>> What we made?
>> Oh, these are adorable.
>> See those?
>> Yes. And that's a shout out to Christy.
Chrissy with Makery 504 down in um Louisiana.
>> Oh, you know, it was fun. [laughter] >> What? What did I do?
>> Just You're just being yourself.
>> I'm sorry.
>> No, keep going. I love the glasses.
>> It Sorry, I'm You're You're right there and you're echoing in my echoing in my ear and it's totally throwing me off.
>> Why are you wearing them?
>> Because I was in the room.
>> Okay. Anyhow, what's fun about it is that you get to just sit down and like make stuff and next thing I knew it was like two in the morning and I made this and something else, but I don't remember what the other thing >> slime.
>> Huh?
>> I don't know. Maybe I think they were doing slime. Those turned out adorable.
>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. I wasn't going to do the slime. [laughter] >> I epoxied I'm working up to it. They're trying to convince me. I learned just as much from my ladies as they learned from me.
Um, I epoxied all of my tables back here so we can do slime parties.
>> Wait, was that recently?
>> Yeah, we did it right before Shrimp Fest because I I did it for the personalization station and then I just decided why not epoxy two other tables.
>> It's really fun. We should go.
>> I think we need a field trip, >> but we need to rent mermaid tails first.
>> Oh, and do them both at the same time.
>> Okay. And we bring the cafe. Okay, I will make coffee for everybody. All right, my friends. Listen, it is it is over the maker hour. Thank you, Heather, for joining us.
>> Absolutely. And Melissa and Rory, thanks for signing up. We'll definitely connect.
>> You guys are in for >> Yeah.
>> All right, everybody. We love you. We'll see you here. Same time, same place next week. Goodbye, everybody. Bye.
>> Bye.
>> Thanks for having me.
