[00:00:11]Yeah. Oh, yeah. I had Yeah. I wish it would have been cleats. Um Yeah, this is like I don't even know. Three or four years >> in the game for a minute. Four years ago. Uh-huh. Yeah. Yeah, I just finished my 17th year, so >> [clears throat] >> um >> [snorts] >> Yeah, I had a real nasty injury that uh kind of freak accident. You can kind of see the cut.

[00:00:33]It started all the way there and then wrapped around through there. So >> And if it would have hit your artery, you would have Oh, no. No, no, it didn't. It did It went right through to the bone.

[00:00:41]Um Like when I saw I didn't really feel it.

[00:00:44]I just kind of felt something hit my wrist and then I just see the blood just spurt up and then right onto the ice and then I just looked at my wrist. I was like I can see the bone and everything, right? So I just put my my hand over it and like skated to the bench cuz I'm like, "This is bad. I don't know." And then I had uh It's actually a crazy story. I had um all the trainers and everybody rushed in the room. This is in Tampa Bay. Yeah.

[00:01:07]And next thing you know, like in like 3 minutes there's like 20 people in the room. Surgeons in there. And >> Within 20 minutes? No, like within like 2 minutes. There were surgeons?

[00:01:18]>> Yeah, cuz they have like everybody at the at the arena, right? They have doctors, doctors, surgeons, all different types of doctors and whatnot um and medical staff. So uh very lucky that it happened in an NHL rink and setting. Yeah.

[00:01:30]>> But they had to put like um a clamp on my upper arm to stop the bleeding and uh that If you've never had that before, it hurts a lot. [ __ ] >> And then she was doing basically open emergency surgery just to just to stitch the artery Uh-huh. to stop the bleeding so they can get me in the ambulance, get me to the hospital and have my actual surgery.

[00:01:49]So when I'm having the surgery cuz like all my nerves are cut open, everything's exposed.

[00:01:54]They yeah >> [laughter] >> um They don't give me any medication.

[00:01:59]>> Yeah. Like I I have no freezing, no nothing.

[00:02:01]>> You're awake while they're sewing you? I was Oh, yeah, like I'm like my arms are hurting.

[00:02:04]>> Wait, but is that legal? And I Well, yeah, they had It's like an emergency, right? They didn't put you under anesthesia?

[00:02:08]>> No. No, no, no. Obviously, there's no anesthesia at the rink in the dressing room, but like no freezing, no nothing.

[00:02:14]So, I was like sitting there and, you know, she's stitching my artery and my nerves were exposed. And think of like when your nerves are sliced open, like something hits an exposed nerve, just touches it like that.

[00:02:26]>> It felt like my entire hand and arm were on fire and getting electrocuted at the same time.
