What We Know About Sorare 27: DNP Solutions?!

[00:00:00]Yes, lads, what is going on? Welcome back to another video. Today, we're going to be going over and recapping the Sorare 27 AMA that happened yesterday with good friend Andrew Laird and Nico and everyone else that that works at Sorare where they basically sort of gave us an insight on what Sorare 27 is going to look like as of right now. Obviously, things can change. We're we're months away from that even becoming a thing and and then like actually announcing that.

[00:00:32]Like that don't know the exact date. But yeah, I thought I'd go through like some of the main talking points that went on in today's AMA. And yeah, go through some of the bits that, you know, I'm I'm I'm bullish about, some of the bits that were discussed that maybe I'm I'm not so excited about and and yeah, just give my overall opinion. And I'm very excited to yeah, have a little discussion with you guys in the comment section about it as well. So yeah, if you do enjoy the video, please do leave it a like.

[00:00:54]And before I get into it, today's video is presented by MFL. Absolutely loving playing MFL right now. I'm in my first season. I'm in I'm in the quarterfinals of the cup. I'm second in the league.

[00:01:03]You know, I'm in the lowest league and you know, I'm just taking it really really slow. But I'm absolutely loving it. So, I've got a little recap in my notes here to go through. The first big thing or talking point that they mentioned was classic and how classic has been performing in Sorare 26. And they they basically said that like they're in they they think it's it's going well or have has gone well in Sorare 20 6.

[00:01:24]Reckon well, they sort of said it was the healthiest year for classic that they've had so far. And they're not really planning to change much which to be fair like I don't really have much of a gripe with to be honest. Like I think that's a fair statement. Like classic has worked quite well. And then I think this is not really a a negative or a knock on classic, but we have seen sort of especially towards the end of the European season, if you do craft cards, if you do win cards, you know, the quality of those just is completely depleted, right? Because all the good cards for the most part have just ran out of supply. Like that you can't craft Jamal anymore or you can't craft a Szoboszlai anymore or whatever, right?

[00:01:59]So, but I guess that's a supply issue, not necessarily a classic issue. I don't know if there's necessarily a fix for that, but that's just one thing that's come to my mind straight away that like yeah, the last few months and even obviously now like crafting cards, especially European ones like I said, it's just it's obviously just not as fruitful. And obviously they have way less utility, right? They you know, they've been in season for 90% of the season. There's only five, six max games left now as I'm recording this in in April. So, I do kind of agree like classic is in a good spot especially from an arena standpoint. Like arena I think is probably going to be the savior of classic generally speaking because yeah, classic classic cards are inflationary meaning that more and more supply gets added every year, right? In the most simplest of terms. But for in I didn't even know where I was going to go with that. I was going to try and say something really well sounding clever, but I've absolutely made a tit of myself. But yeah, basically classic cards are inflationary and that's what I was getting at. There's only so many rewards each season they can give out, right? There's only 100 rares, 1,000 limited, right? So, those are fixed. And so, there's more and more people each year fighting for these card wins, this essence with classic cards in classic comps that is. So like the amount of users and lineups are just going to exponentially grow as the rewards stay fixed, right? That's kind of where I was getting at. I I managed to to say that then in the last minute. But yeah, that like again, can you do much about that? Maybe arena is like is the savior of it. So obviously you've got classic comps like, you know, classic champion, under 23 all star. They've said under 23's going to stay apparently which I think's I I mean, I'm not sad about like I I want it to stay, but I wouldn't have been surprised if they shipped it. So yeah, that that's basically it on classic other than the classic slotting in season is going to stay. Same for the unique and super rare bonus. Like right now in super rare you can play one in season and you can play So, you can play one classic unique and one classic super rare in an in season super rare lineup if that makes sense. So, yeah, everything's staying the same for for that part. Divisions are going to be removed according to what they, you know, sort of hinted at. I don't know if that's, you know, definite, but yeah, don't take it as gospel. But yeah, I'm pretty sure they kind of mentioned that divisions aren't really working and I don't necessarily disagree with them either. Like divisions for the most part are just a nightmare because, you know, especially the knock-on effect of having a DMP, you know, and you're in a high division because of that DMP you get relegated, then for the second week then you're in division two or say if you've gone from two to three, either way you've been relegated, you know, it's two weeks then before you you can even get back up to the first division to even, you know, have a chance at, you know, the bigger prizes.

[00:04:28]I get why they brought divisions in. It obviously from like an optics perspective like playing against say if you've got three divisions and you're playing against only 2,000 people in your division as opposed to like 6,000, well then, you know, in your head you think well, you know, I've got a better chance, right? Because I'm just playing against less people. But the knock-on effect of that is all like yeah, is the fact that when you do get relegated, it's just an absolute nightmare having to climb divisions and come back down and it's yeah, it it I don't think they they work to be honest. They like the split. They like the whole MLS, K and J League split between streaks and and leaderboards which I'm not like a massive fan of. Right now in the in Sorare 26 we have like one lineup in challenger or one lineup in prem goes towards the leaderboard. Like that one five-man team can go towards leaderboard and you can hit a streak with it, right?

[00:05:12]It's a double bubble. But looking ahead to Sorare 27 and obviously we're seeing, you know, the the testing era of it in MLS, K and J now, it does seem like they are going to probably go ahead with that and it does like I will say it does allow for, which we'll get into the whole DMP talk, right? And the whole PVE versus PVP. Obviously, PVP is is leaderboards. PVE is of course, you know, you versus Sorare which is the streaks, right? You're beating the house. You're not beating anyone else.

[00:05:40]And so, we'll obviously get into it with the whole DMP stuff. But what they're basically saying is, you know, they can come up with Well, basically they can swap swap. They can sort of emulate what they've done in Sorare Set which has been super successful. Everyone loves Sorare Set for the most part.

[00:05:55]And it's mainly down to the the gameplay. The fact that you do lessen the DMP risks because you get to see the lineups before in, you know, playing your team. Now of course, there is a caveat to that in that say if you have say the Man United team comes out at 3:00 and you've played four Man United players, but the fifth player you played was playing at 6:00 for Man City for example. Well, you don't know the Man City lineup, right? It's 3 hours away.

[00:06:17]So, once that Man United game has kicked off, those four players are locked in.

[00:06:20]Well, all five of the players are locked in. You can't switch out that Man City player even if that Man City player isn't starting. So, that's how Sorare Set works. Now we're not we haven't been told that Sorare 27 is definitely going to work like that for streaks, but it does seem like that's the sort of the route they're going down. Which I think you want as many as the user you want as many advantages against the house as possible, right? Knowing lineups is obviously going to help. Now that doesn't mean to say those cards are going to score well, right? Like people confuse oh well, if you you know, if you get rid of no DMPs and everyone gets the scores of their players then like all the scores go up and to a degree yeah, that's right. Obviously, scores are going to go up, but you still need you still need that player that does start to score really well to win something, you know? And the whole like oh well, if you if you give us users a DMP solution for streaks, well Sorare are just going to put the streaks higher and we kind of got told today in a roundabout way that they're not really going to change the levels of as in like they're not going to change the difficulty of streaks, but they are probably going to emulate the Sorare Set streak in that like it's seven streaks, not five. So, you're adding streaks, but you can probably just fit them in between streak, you know, three and four and four and five if that makes sense, right? And just do it that way. So like the actual end goal streak number is the same as it would be now in five streaks, but there's obviously a few sort of micro streaks in between that. Which I'm not surprised. Like I've mentioned it on on content for the last few weeks. Like it does feel like the Set game needs to kind of emulate or the pro game kind of needs to emulate the Set game in in some way. Like they need to be uniform it it needs to be uniform in my opinion. Like we had Sorare Rivals previously and that didn't like that was nothing like like it was a fun game in like a silo, but it didn't like emulate Sorare Pro in any way. So like the funnel of taking people from Sorare Set which is like the beginners version of this game and and integrating them into pro, there needs to be some needs to be uniform. Like it needs to be basically the same to a degree because otherwise like why would you move and you you're like well, the game's like this in Sorare Set, but then it's completely different in Sorare Pro. Why am I paying more money for players to not play in games cuz there's no DMP solution, right? That's kind of the argument now. So yeah, like that does make sense to me if they were to sort of yeah, sort of make it a bit more uniform in Sorare 27 which is kind of what they sort of hinted at. They did mention the rare boost thing. So like I think next season it does seem like streaks are going to be one whole competition. Like they won't be scarcity based. Like right now you have limited streaks, you have rare streaks, you have super rare streaks. It seems like in Sorare 27 they're going to basically have like one streak competition for MLS or, you know, let's just call it for prem and you can play rare cards in that streak competition which will get you like a 60% rewards bonus compared to you playing the equivalent limited. And their argument is well, if players are playing limited and they want to progress to rare, they can they can gradually do that now in streaks cuz you could play like three limiteds and two rares similar to how you could play, you know, years ago in in rare pro which is obviously not with us anymore. RIP. And yeah, to a degree like it doesn't matter if there's no scarcities in in a way because it's PVE.

[00:09:31]You're playing against the the house. You know, you're not playing against anyone else. Nobody has an advantage in that sense. If they play a limited or a rare, the only advantage comes in into the rewards, right? Like if you've got five limiteds in streaks in Sorare 27 hypothetically compared to five rares, like you're going to win more money with the rares is basically what they're saying. And maybe similar for for super rares. So that's pretty interesting. They said the prize pool is going to be as good as it it now in Sorare 26. That's sort of talking about, you know, everything, leaderboards, cash, cards, you know, that's kind of the the words that they sort of said. Uh the bottom levels of the the streaks are probably going to be essence based like they already in in MLS right now for limited. The first two streaks, streak number one and two are both are both essence. So and and the first streak in in rare is essence. So that won't be too dissimilar. Maybe it'll just turn into three this time round, right? Like if there's seven streaks or six streaks, the first three will be essence and then, you know, beyond that it'll be cash. We don't know. I'm just sort of spitballing there. Other than that they they mentioned like UI and stuff and UI I don't think like the UI is necessarily going to go through like a mass change or anything from what they said. Which I'm not like I don't think it needs a big change. Like I For me I I really The only part I really dislike is the whole like pro and leaderboard stuff. Like the fact that arena is in leaderboards for me just makes no sense. Like they should just have three tabs. Just have pro, leaderboard, and or or or I'll just call it streak, leaderboard, and then arena. Just have three tabs, right? Like I don't know what I'm really missing there, but anyway. So yeah, I think that kind of makes sense. Like if they were to do that. Um and then what what else have I got on my notes? Sorry, lads. Yeah, we've kind of touched on it, but the whole DMP thing. So, you know, there there's probably going to be a you know, a DMP solution which will look different in streaks than it will do in leaderboards. In streaks we're probably going to see some sort of a anytime entry like we've seen in in Sorare Set working quite well, I think. Um there's less friction. There's more engagement in Like that's the biggest thing I've seen in Sorare Set is everyone's so engaged in it. I know it's free to play game, but you can play it with gems and you obviously it's not free if you don't want it to be. But ultimately it's just very engaging. The fact that you can run through streaks, you know, a couple times in a day. Like you could get from streak one to four in a day if you play like the early kickoffs, the midday kickoffs, the late kickoffs, and and whatever.

[00:11:48]Like it's really engaging and I think that's kind of what's going to come into Sorare 20s 27 where you're going to be able to run through a couple of streaks in the same game week in the same weekend. It's going to be tricky with like, you know, for example, a lot of the Bundesliga games kick off at the same time. There's never really a Sunday Bundesliga game. There's normally an early one like It's going to It's going to be tricky. Like I don't necessarily know how each league is going to sort of yeah, perform um schedule wise like streak wise as well cuz yeah, it'll it'll every league will be different because every league kicks off at different times, you know, throughout the the week. But with leaderboard they're looking at some sort of like auto sub feature. So for example, in leaderboards it's PvP right, me versus you.

[00:12:31]I've got my five players. Well, what they're saying is that they might introduce a a an auto sub feature to where you add a sixth player in. I'm I'm assuming it can be any position outside of goalkeeper, but I really don't know.

[00:12:44]Um where if one of your five players is a DMP, scores zero points, well then that sub will get subbed like that sub scores would get subbed in for the for the DMP. Now someone's going to say, well, what if the sub is a DMP as well?

[00:12:57]Well, then it's just tough, isn't it, right? You just get doubles, you know, it's just a zero. Um but at least it's giving you some sort of lifeline. Now to a degree like yeah, okay, that's it's it's kind of good, but it's not the end game where I think reducing DMPs gets to. Like I think for me the ultimate goal would be something like a bench lineup. So say if I have Let me just give Yeah, so say if I have these two MLS teams here, right? One of them's cancelled cuz I, you know, listed it Well, one of them was actually a DMP, ironically. But I've got two lineups here, right? I would then have a bench team round like here. Five players, goalie, defender, midfielder, uh forward, extra player.

[00:13:34]And then whatever like if I experience any DMPs in these lineups, obviously it has to come in like time order. Like for example, say if every one of these players were a DMP, my whole sub team would get subbed in for these five. But then let's just say another player DMP to like a sixth player, well then I'm I'm out of luck, right? Cuz I've already used five like my whole sub team has gone into the other team, right? Again, I know it there's going to be flaws in it. There's going to be flaws in everything. But I I think something like that like a bench team would make a bit more sense where you have like the backup keeper for example and and whatever else of like the main team just as like a just in case the keeper's [ __ ] wife's in in labor and you know, he's Well, that's what happened with Zimmerman. Like he just expected it Well, just got his third child or whatever. He didn't, but you know what I mean. Um but for me that's kind of more the end Like I don't think one sub fixes anything. If it was goalkeeper plus one, then I think it's not as bad Well, it's it's way better than just one cuz a lot of the time goalkeepers can just DMP as much as an outfielder, right? They you know, the probability is one of the four outfielders has a way higher chance than the goalkeeper to DMP. But nonetheless, like you would probably see an increased demand for backup keepers, right? If you were able to have like a bench keeper and then a bench outfielder. But anyway, that's just besides the point. But what I'm getting at is there is going to be two different solutions between it Well, from what they're saying, between like streaks and leaderboards. Uh do I necessarily agree with that? I think they're just slowly walking eventually everyone into the same thing. Like I think eventually they all want more like a they all want it to be a bit more uniform. The fact that like the gameplay is completely different over in streak than it is leaderboard. I don't think that makes a ton of sense, but maybe it can do for a year potentially so people can get used to to both and and the differences between both. But they did mention with the leaderboard stuff like there'll have to be some sort of restriction. So whether that's like the cap com like the the alternative the player can't be above etc. etc. And it will be optional to use. They definitely stated that. So like the leaderboard sub, you don't have to play that fifth player. Like you can you you can choose not to. Which I think's, you know, fair. Like it's like when anyone when anyone says like it's optional to do, it's always probably better to do it, you know? And it's one of them where like why would you want to leave any sort of edge on the table if that makes sense? So yeah, interesting. They also mentioned a mad number which I think it might be a bit out of context, but I think it was Gee, the the the game designer there. He basically said that like 50% of lineups are dead cuz of a DMP on a given game week. Now I don't know how yeah, I don't know if that's like, you know, on average every week like, you know, around the 50% number. But he did say that number. Like he did basically say that word. Yeah, like for me if 50% of lineups Now I know you're going to say, well, you know, you shouldn't count lineups that are like throwaway lineups and players who are expected to DMP. I get it, right? I get it. Like it's not a complete science, right? But the fact that the number is that high is flipping worrying, man.

[00:16:29]Like there's no way 50% of lineups should be a have a DMP in them. Like in in a not a perfect world, but even just in ideal world, I think it's just ludicrous. Like how a game is designed to where 50% of the lineups that don't even get out of the blocks for the race. They don't even race, you know, because they're non-starters effectively, right? If you've got a DMP I know there's exceptions. There's edge cases where four players can go and do something. I get it. But for the most part, if you experience a DMP, you are toast and that's just the nature of the game. They mentioned something about midweeks. They don't want to Yeah, like they don't want to really change too much there. They did then sort of end on the fact that uh there will be some some pro games for Sorare for the World Cup if that makes sense. Like there's going to be an in-season like cash comp. Uh there'll be a classic comp as well. I don't know what cards they can really give away in classic because it's only KJ and MLS that like have supply, you know? So that that's a weird one.

[00:17:28]Um like they're not going to be issuing new cards. But I think the main sort of aspect of the World Cup is going to be around Sorare Set. Like that was what Sorare Set was designed for and they reckon, yeah, the the the World Cup stuff are going to be in like they're going to knock it out of the park.

[00:17:42]They've obviously done well with this last iteration of Set with the sellers the stellar sets. And yeah, they they're basically saying that this could or this is going to be like the main sort of game mode for for the World Cup which I think from like an onboarding perspective, uh you know, like a a marketing perspective as well, like I think that's probably the best way to go. It's the most welcoming to new people because you don't have to spend any money if you don't want to. Whereas in pro, you have to.

[00:18:15]Um so I think walking them into the game that way on like a big a big stage like, you know, the global stage like the World Cup is probably the best way to to do it. They said the blog post for the World Cup stuff is going to come out in May. And then as far as essence goes, they were testing tiers before the end of the season like a performance based like set. Um and I think for five years now we've been asking for something like that. So the fact that they're they're finally doing is obviously a good thing. It's a one you know, better late than never type of thing, right?

[00:18:42]Yeah, at least they're sort of, you know, on it. They did mention something about scarcity clauses as well where like the convert like you convert limited to to rare rare to super rare if you if you want to, which I think's quite interesting. They said they're not going to change anything to do with XP. The scoring matrix might change slightly, but they basically said effectively no.

[00:19:01]Um and that was kind of the Yeah, the extent of the AMA. Like, you know, they they probably like to be fair, they they did reveal some some nice peace of mind bits like the whole you can use a classic in in-season um in super rare and and unique as well. Definitely gives a bit more longevity to those like for example, I've bought a few in-season uniques this season. Well, next year like for example, this Antonio Blanco, he's going to be a classic super rare next uh classic super rare. He's going to be a classic unique. So I could still use him with my super rare Yemao for example, who's a classic super rare. Um he's obviously injured right now, but you know, the point still stands. So like I've got two fifths of a La Liga lineup going into next season. I I think there was a lot of positives to take from it. I also would say like just take it all with a pinch of salt because we did see at the begin Well, before Sorare 26, Nico came out and said that there wouldn't be any SO7, you know, so and then and then that came in like this without any testing from what we could see. So, yeah, I wouldn't take everything that I've kind of explained to you here second hand as gospel, but it is, you know, definitely food for thought. And yeah, I'm really interested to hear your thoughts on it even if you haven't watched it just from what I've, you know, watched the actual AMA yourself but just from what I've reiterated here. Let me know your thoughts, you know, are you excited that for the fact that there could be some sort of DMPE solution more so in the street side, less so maybe in the leader side but something better than nothing maybe.
