XRP Las Vegas Event Recap | Zebec Team Reveals EverythingAdded:
All right, guys. Good afternoon. We have the recap spaces from uh Zbec's team from the XRP Las Vegas event. Hearing it right from them themselves, what they thought about it. Uh we're going to not waste any time. We're going to dive right into it, guys. Uh so, make sure that you uh put your feet up, get some popcorn. It's only about 20 minutes or so. So, anyway, I will be back at the end of the uh spaces to kind of give you my thoughts.
Hey, hey, Ben. What's going on, >> JJ? My man, I'm good. I'm I'm really excited for this one. Like, uh I haven't been able to catch up with Simon properly since since you guys left for uh for Vegas and been sat here on the sidelines waiting to wait to drill him on it. It's uh it's exciting stuff. How are you?
>> I'm pretty good, man. I'm uh I didn't go to Vegas personally um because I'm I'm I'm in Miami, so we had to divide and conquer, you know. So >> Oh, yeah. I get you. I get you.
>> But uh I've heard it was a a big success. And uh I mean today, I'm sure I'll I'll let people know as well at the end, but well, I'll I'll let people know now. Um but we'll be at the Circle Alliance uh hub booth. Uh >> nice >> from 100 pm to 4. Uh, so if you guys are at Consensus, feel free to say hello. Me and uh, and Neil, our head of M&A, will also be there along with the circle team. So, um, yeah, come say what's up.
>> Love that. Love that. I've got, um, I've got Simon up as a speaker now. Just do a quick mic check, Simon.
>> Hey, Ben.
>> Hey, how you doing?
>> There he is. How are you, man?
>> Good to be back. It's been a whirlwind week in the US, but I am back here in London, back in the office.
Okay, so you're back in London. I'm in London tomorrow. We should definitely meet up.
>> Absolutely. Absolutely. It's long overdue.
>> Okay. Love that. Um I just got off the back of watching your keynote. Uh someone from the team let me watch it.
So I wasn't in Vegas, but I've seen it and uh it was fantastic. So um yeah, >> thank you very much. And that keynote will be dropping soon. I don't think we've released it yet. Um but something to look forward to for sure. Well, I wanted to catch it because I wanted to prep some questions based on the things you were talking about. Let's get into it straight away. So, hello everyone and welcome. Thank you for joining us for another Zebeck community check-in. Those two weeks just like whipped by. I can't get over how quickly that went. Um you we as I say we did one of these a couple of weeks ago just to give everyone like a cleaner view of what was happening across product integration partnerships kind of the wider Zebeck roadmap. Yeah. And and since then quite a lot has happened. Uh we've got Simon with us today. So founder CEO at Zebeck to to basically give us a bit of an update on what's been going on. Um the Zeve team has been at XRP Las Vegas.
Simon delivered this keynote. I've seen it. I know it's going to drop soon. I know a number of the community members were actually in uh in the hall at the time and saw it firsthand, which is amazing. Some really important updates around the direction of the business.
And we've seen more attention coming into Zebex certainly from kind of like the wider payments, fintech, and obviously XRP community. It's been amazing being tagged in so many uh different posts on X particularly. So today is a chance to unpack all of that properly. We'll keep it tight again, Simon. I want to be, you know, respectful of your time. I think maybe 20 minutes here. We should be good.
Let's focus on I want to hear all about the energy at XRP Las Vegas. I want to know what the team learned from being there. Zeb bringing its technology to XRPL. I'm super super excited to talk to you about that one. Real time payroll, stable coin payments, relevance tomemes and enterprises. So much was covered.
and of course how we grow the community beyond like you know this usual crypto ecochamber that we live in. So great to have you back Simon. Um let's jump straight into it. You were on the ground in Vegas. You delivered an amazing keynote. It felt like there was a lot of energy around Zebex. So from your perspective, what was the event like?
What kind of conversations were you having out there? Did anything surprise you about the level of interest in Zebec? And how did it feel seeing the community show up around the team and the products?
>> Well, first of all, it was a truly incredible experience for myself and the team to be at XRP Las Vegas to interact directly with the Zebec community, the XRP army and many of our great partners of course were out there as well like Uphold, Caleb and Brown, and many others. So, I've personally never seen a conference with that level of energy that we saw at XRP Vegas. was truly a first. Um, and we're excited to see how the XRP army and the Zebec community are going to be able to work together and overlap with each other from here as we move forward. As you mentioned, the speaking slot right after Brad Garlingham Garlinghouse himself was a little bit intimidating. I'm not going to lie. Um, but I think we hit on a lot of great topics that were relevant for both Ripple, XRP, and many of the partners there. So, I'm sure a few of the interviews have come out already where I was speaking with um reporters and and pundits after after the speech.
So, encourage everyone to check those out. And of course, the actual keynote will be published in the next few days.
>> Great stuff. I can see our friend Zach in the audience also. Hey, Zach. I know that you have spoken to him recently.
>> Yes, Zach and I did a really great little interview yesterday, so I encourage everyone to check that out on Zach's page.
>> Awesome. Yeah, an amazing um commentator on the broader crypto space but focusing on XRP. Given a lot of shout outs to uh to Zebec recently. So, Zach, great to see you here. Thanks for joining us today. Um one of the big messages from the event Simon seemed to be that Zebec will be kind of like bringing its technology to XRPPL.
So, this feels super important. I know loads of people were really excited by this um because XRPL has such a strong like payment history and ZEPC is building around real time finance payroll card stable coin movement. So I guess give me a little bit more on that.
Why is XRPL such a natural environment for what Zbec is building and what are the synergies between Z's payroll infrastructure and the XRPL ecosystem?
What what should the community understand about this next phase? Great question and I know this is on everyone's mind. There will be news dropping with Ripple soon, but we will get in today to the XRPL topic because that's really the technology that underlies all of this. So XRPL of course is one of the purpose-built chains for payments. It's been around for longer than almost any other. Now I notice that he just mentioned that there's going to be an announcement from Ripple about this soon as well. So, I'm interested to see further detail. Very, very key little nonchalant comment, guys. But let's continue.
Shane, it settles in three to five seconds. The fees round to zero. Um, and when you're trying to run payroll for thousands of employees around the world in different countries, you cannot afford to have congestion or unpredictable fees. So, XRPPL gives us that performance. Then on the Ripple side, when you think about it, Ripple spent the better half of the last, you know, two decades building institutional relationships that make enterprise payroll possible on a large scale.
Ripplet supports 300 different banks.
Ripple holds 75 global licenses. They've made acquisitions like Hidden Road and G Treasury that plug already into Fortune 500 Treasury. So, in our view, they're a network that already has the distribution. They were just missing the payroll layer. And that's where Zbec comes in. The third piece is also re important and that comes down to culture. I think both of our organizations have similar cultures.
Ripple's always taken the long regulated path and that matches up with our posture as well. Of course, we've achieved all of our compliance and regulatory licenses last year and I know we'll talk a little bit more about that later, but that's why this in so many ways was the perfect marriage.
>> Yeah, man. I mean, so many people really really looking for that like official announcement, etc. I know you've got you've got that in the works, right?
>> Exactly. Exactly. We don't want to rush things.
>> Exactly. Okay. Well, look, >> that's another thing that I touch on sometimes, guys, is bec I talk about the potential of Zevec versus XRP in 2017 and how XRP would have done so much better uh in a shorter amount of time if they didn't have a 5-year lawsuit hanging over their heads. Well, that's where an advantage for Zevec comes in because they don't they have legal compliance. They have legal uh legal frameworks in place. They are compliant, right? and XRP and Ripple kind of blazed that trail for them to follow, right?
So, that's very very it's it's it's crazy how fast the Beck is catching up to uh the XRP status.
>> Uh congrats first of all, also an amazing ecosystem to be building in. Um I I I want to touch on one of the other things you said on stage actually. it it really stood out for me and that was that like payroll has not changed materially for decades. And so I wondered like if we could just take a step back a minute and say like why is payroll such a powerful use case for blockchain and stable coins? And more importantly are business owners now really starting to understand the benefits of real time payroll?
Great question. And when folks ask me what is Zbeck and what's the problem we're trying to solve, I always like to anchor it in payroll. As you've said, payroll has not changed materially for the past 70 years. Most of the world gets paid every two weeks at best or even every month. And why is this the case? Well, it comes down to the legacy banking system and the friction of payments that come with it. Payroll is still trapped in this legacy system. It it runs on a on swift on inter intermediaries that take three to five days to settle payments and charge hefty hefty fees. So our mission has always been to bring these payments onchain leveraging our real time streaming engine so that there's no material difference in the cost of whether you're paying your employee by the hour, by the minute, by the day, whatever it is, regardless where they're located in the world. And we've achieved that through Zebex technology. So our belief is that right now there is a paradigm shift that's underway on how employers imagine and run payroll. It's starting with Zex blockchain technology and in my view it's exactly what the crypto industry needs at this point. It's you know we've had a a very up and down year in crypto.
Overall stable coin volumes have continued to grow but to really open the floodgates and bring us into this next phase of parabolic growth payroll will be the driver of it. And then on the employer side, which is equally important, employers are used to paying $30, $20 per employee per month to run payroll through legacy systems. Onchain payroll via Zbec reduces that those fees dramatically and in our view is one of the main hooks as to how we get employers using our technology.
>> Real world. Okay, this is exactly the kind of route I wanted to go down because I think it's be it's really important for people to understand here like the principles of what is is built on here and I think another thing you just mentioned a moment ago that we're going to speak about it. I I really do want to touch on this and I hope you don't mind going over it again, but um it's compliance, right? Like if you combine what you've just been speaking about there, payroll being that kind of like catalyst >> and then and then you you dovetail it with this idea, you know, okay, let me start again. AML, KYC, SOCK 2, ISO, MEA, like when you're speaking to the larger companies now, how important are you finding that the the point that you can make that you are compliant with all of these standards and and how much stronger does it make the proposition of Zbec to to those conversations that you're having with fintech, bank, enterprise customers and things like that? Well, as our community knows that have been around with us for a while now, last year was all about laying the foundation on the compliance side. All these acronyms you just dropped, Ben, those are boxes that needed to be checked. And now looking forward a year later, the way I think about compliance is it's not a constraint on our business. Rather, it's the moat. It's what protects what we've built. Not any not everyone has it in the industry. It's hard to achieve. And at the end of the day, we do operate within these regulated frameworks in jurisdictions like the US and Europe, which have strict rules on stable coins and crypto. On top of it, we bought Gate Knox last year, which was our foundational acquisition um in the KYC and KYB space, and we've built out our compliance team from there. So, in our view, regulation's not a headwind.
Rather, it's actually the key to unlocking real world treasuries and bringing them on chain because if you're going to work with Fortune 500 companies, they're going to require these things. If you're going to work with the largest ecosystems and blockchain companies like XRP and Ripple, they're also going to require these things. So, in our view, it's a very worthy investment that we've made over the years to get us to where we are today.
>> Okay. Um I I think >> and that's why guys that's why we stress that Zbec doesn't have any competitors in their narrative is because uh like like Simon just said these are requirements for for bigger institutions companies uh uh to work with you right so even if another competitor comes along it's going to take them years possibly a decade to get all of the compliance and regulatory uh you know ne necessity ities in place to follow suit with Zebec. They're so far ahead of everybody else.
>> You know, I'm sorry to bring out the acronyms again. I just it's so it's so important when when we're talking about the kind of growth that we want to see.
Um, and it it's it's really easy to spend all day talking to people who already understand like wallets, chains, stable coins, DeFi, but if this industry is going to grow, we need to like bring more normal normal people along with us and so we need to kind of show that we're able to be compliant and and all of those different things.
How how much at XRP Las Vegas did you kind of see the importance of education and and how much do you think education is really important for the next stage of growth? Like how does Zebeck plan to support more educational content for example or community growth across the US as another example?
I'll be very honest with you, Ben. I didn't realize the importance of education um in building a grassroots effort like ZBEC until I had these one-on-one conversations with really hundreds of community members that were asking me, "What is it? How do we use Zbec? How do we get our employer to be using Zbec?" And at that point, I really realized that it all comes down to education. And that's something that we're planning to invest heavily in over the coming quarters. So we will be announcing the Zbec education chapters which will start in the US. They're going to be led by some of our most loyal community leaders and the goal with that is to educate and teach people how blockchain payroll and solutions like the Zevec card suite, the super app can make meaningful improvements in your everyday life, especially when you look at the alternatives which are typically high fee, slow legacy products that are offered by the banks. So, if there's anyone in our community who's interested in participating in these programs or leading these programs, give us an email or a DM and we'll get you set up. Um, this is something that our community team is going to be prioritizing over the next month.
>> Absolutely love it. My hand is raised, I would >> we'll get you here in the UK. You'll be leading one of our UK chapters.
>> Great stuff. Okay. Well, look, um, brilliant stuff. I guess you know when you step back from the event it's always funny isn't it when you come away from these events and you kind of exhale because you you're you're right up in the moment when you're there when you look at like the XRPL direction that we've spoken about the payroll opportunity obviously the compliance we've just been speaking about um what else is there like the focus on education it it does feel like Zeb is entering a more mature phase not just like building product but taking it into rooms where payments, payroll, fintech, stable coins, like these things are really starting to to connect with people on as a as a final question for you, Simon, what what would you most like the community to take away from the last couple of weeks? And what should people be watching for next? And finally, I know I I draw all these questions out, but what message would you give to both long-term Zebex supporters and the new people just discovering the ecosystem?
>> Well, there's so much going on right now behind the scenes that I can't even speak about, but I always like to go back to the same point about our position in the industry. Zbec is building the rails for real-time finance and eventually we're going to be on top of all of the major blockchains and we're going to be the rails powering the fintech and payment apps that come to market over the next 5 to 10 years as all of these apps are going to be stable coin forward. That is our belief. We're really well positioned right now as a company to grow alongside stable coin volumes which will continue to grow and hopefully once the clarity act passes we'll see uh escape velocity achieved in that in that segment. And the way we've built that our business is different than many other crypto companies. We're actually white label by design. We don't need to have our brand necessarily on the card or the app. We function best as the rails behind those products. We're working with over a hundred different fintexs and ecosystems right now. Each of those becomes a distribution channel for us. So we're super excited to see where the coming months come. As our transactions in volume continue to grow, the Zvec token is going to be used more and more as part of our ecosystem. So, I think the future is very bright for us.
I'm super excited about some of the announcements that are coming out and the partnerships pretty soon. So, I encourage anyone who's new to the community to follow us on Twitter, engage with us on Telegram and other channels. And look out for more announcements coming on the community side as well.
>> Yeah, I completely agree that one of the things I hope you don't mind me kind of railroading the conversation here, Simon. One of the things and I pinned it to the top of >> Look for more announcements on the community side as well. more partnerships that he's super excited about being available across all chains as well. Guys, how can you not want to go out and buy more Zbec right now? Not financial advice, but holy smokes, >> the jumbotron that I found is that obviously like I'm an independent consultant. I work with you guys to help you with your uh you know, your content.
I help you by asking questions and uh and giving you the opportunity to articulate what you're doing. Um I get a lot of people from the community asking me like, you know, what do I think or or you know, it would be great if we could talk about these things. Now, I appreciate when we talk about Zebeck being like a more mature business. I think it's it's really important to separate that ability to kind of like announce and articulate versus, you know, being able to a little bit more like the kind of like the the conversation around the water cooler in the office. You know what I mean? So, >> it's a good comparison. What I've done is I've um I've connected with the guys at Zevec Nation and immediately after these community spaces going to jump on and then anybody from the community that wants to kind of like hop up have a chat talk about things can do. So I'll be super super clear like I'm not in a position where I can talk with any authority about anything that you guys have got going on because you tell me at the point you tell everyone else. But um I think it's going to be really exciting to kind of onboard some of the new community members through the amazing community that we've already built. So I just wanted to pin that to the top and let people know that we'll be hopping into spaces in about well half past the hour um after this one just to just to chat about like how was Vegas and what's been going on.
>> It's a fantastic idea, Ben. I love it.
>> Yeah, great stuff. Well, look, Simon, thank you again for taking the time. Um, I know that you are all over the place.
I know you've just got back into the UK as well. I'll definitely give you a shout tomorrow when I'm in London. We could grab a coffee. Um, I think a big takeaway from today is that Zebec is moving into a really important mature phase where the technology is becoming more tangible. The the market now really starts to understand the the use case and events like XRP Las Vegas are obviously helping bring more people into the conversation. So, I want to thank you uh for everything that you do and I want to thank all of the listeners today for coming up and listening with us. Um, as as Simon said, keep an eye on the official channels and uh there's clearly a lot happening across the product, the ecosystem, education. So, thanks to everybody. Appreciate you, Simon. And speak to everyone soon.
>> Thanks, Ben. Thanks, everyone.
>> Thanks.
>> Thanks, JJ.
>> Absolutely amazing, guys. I love these spaces. says, "I love the transparency.
Uh, I can't wait for my interview with Simon as well." Let me know what you guys think. What did you take away from this? Are you excited about more announcements coming, big announcements, partnerships, and more? Or was there something else that caught your interest? Let me know in the comment section.
