Self-compassion is not naturally instinctive for humans; instead, we naturally feel threatened by our own failures and respond with harsh self-criticism, whereas we naturally extend compassion to others. However, we can develop self-compassion by treating ourselves with the same kindness and understanding we would offer to a good friend, essentially 'hacking' our natural care system to cultivate self-compassion.

Talk Kindly To Yourself | Dr. Kristin Neff | Raising Us Podcast追加:
Unfortunately, it's not totally natural for human beings to be self-compassionate. It's actually more natural to be compassionate to others. That's because when we fail our mistake or make a mistake, we feel threatened. So, we try to force ourselves to do better by harsh self-criticism, thinking somehow that'll keep us safe.
Whereas it does feel natural to help others who are suffering because that it kind of comes from two evolutionary systems.
The good news is is we can actually hack the system. We can hack the care system when we start treating ourselves just like we would treat a good friend.
