Whilom is an archaic English word meaning 'former' or 'in the past,' dating back to Old English and now primarily used in literary contexts; it can be employed to add flourish to writing or surprise friends when describing former places or times.

Word of the Day: whilom追加:
My old elementary school was recently converted into a series of modern lofts.
It's strange to see people drinking coffee on their balconies in whilom classroom space. Whilom is the dictionary.com word of the day. It means former or in the past. It dates back to old English and has faded into literary territory over the past few centuries.
But that doesn't mean you can't break it out to surprise your friends or add a flourish to your writing. The new lofts look nice, but I'll always have fond memories of that whilom schoolhouse.
