This demonstration masterfully elevates basic masonry into a disciplined architectural exercise through technical precision and structural foresight. It proves that the integrity of a landscape is defined by the invisible engineering that supports its aesthetic form.

BLOCKWORK PLANTERS
Added:All right, guys and girls, back once again. And in this episode, we're going to be building some planters and doing some sort of landscapy sort of stuff in the back of someone's back garden. So, I'm down here in Southwood and Fairies, and this is where the job is going to be. I'm giving the lads messy landscapes a hand on this one. There is plenty of material out here, and I've just got the mixer set up. So, let's go around the back and show you the job. So, this property is undergoing a massive renovation. And as you can see, a lot is going on. So what the guys require from me is a single block course all the way along this footing here. Then I've got to build a planter in this section.
Another planter area in this section.
And a bench is going to join the two.
Right, let's get a gauge of mug on.
Got one in the mixer, one in the barrerow. Let's go and lay some blocks.
Right, we have got a single course of blocks running right the way along this footing all the way along here. So, he's got his right height for his patio and everything that's going in. So, we've taken a measurement off of this wall here to here, which is 2 m 585 mil.
We're going to dot a block there. We've done the very same down that end as well. I've measured out and marked, so I'll dot a block down there. Then, I'll get my laser out. We make sure they're exactly the same height. Pull the line really tight and then yank these uh yank this course of blocks through. Here we go then.
That's there.
And I've just left three blocks out to allow Connor to be able to get the digger out.
So that is that course all the way through there. Right the way up to the end. Absolutely perfect. So the next job is we've got a planter to build here.
Now this base has been put in bang on level. So all I've got to achieve off of the top of this is 560 mil. Two blocks coming at 450 mil. So, we've got 100 mil here. We've cut a block straight in half. Going to put that round the bottom. Then the 10 mil bed on that will make the 110 which I need from 450 to 560 finished height. I'm going to work it full block all the way along and then see where my bond is. Then we can return it. But I'm not governed to any specific size on here. Just got to get it nicely on that footing.
Heat.
Heat.
So there we go. There's the back all in through there. Now we've got to do is achieve the same along the front. Chase the corner around and set that out correctly. And the same at the other end. So course of splits, two course of seven Newton blocks and this one will be complete. So, as you can probably tell, this isn't the most complex of jobs, but nevertheless, I'm sure it will make a big impact on this back garden. And if you've been enjoying these videos, don't forget to hit that thumbs up, like, subscribe, cuz it really does help the channel grow. Cheers, guys. And now on to spreading some mortar along this top course. So then I can lay these heavy concrete blocks along to the string line one at a time, making sure the ps are nice and full. And the last one, of course, fits like a glove. Lovely old job. Right then, it's day two and we're going to get on with the couple of planters that are left and they're going to be a joined together with a seating area. So I'm going to show you how I'm going to do that as well. So this area is going to be a planter. This area here is going to be the seating area.
This is going to be another planter.
So, what I'm going to do is pull my block work through the back here, pick up the seating area bit, where that's going to be different, run it all through with one line, and then I can work everything off to the front and then pull it through this way as well.
Hey, hey, hey.
There we go. There's our planter done.
Just got a couple to do on here. Bit of mugs put in the barrel. But yes, we are nearly there. Just this bench to sort out. So, this bench has been built with blocks on their bellies. Then I've installed this steel. And then we'll counterbalance that steel by putting a load more blocks on their bellies across the back that'll hold these in good and strong. So, there we go. There's a planter in there, the seating area in here.
He's going to be sticking some timbers to these, screwing it on, and now making a nice bench. And then all of this back is going to be clad exactly the same as what these planters are. So it'll all match in. Then we got this planter here which is all ready to go as well.
And the planter over here.
Three planters, a seat. Oh, and a big course of blocks along here to uh separate the garden from the beautiful porcelain slabs. Look at them lovely ones there. Look, Kane is an absolute master on these.
>> He's done a master job. Master TR.
Nice to do some work with the 18. Oh, yay.
>> Right, guys, that's that one complete.
And I know it was a short video, but I was traveling over here to the beautiful Canada to come see my girlfriend and stay in this lovely, lovely woodland lodge. Don't forget to hit the thumbs up, like, subscribe, guys and girls. We got loads of new stuff coming, including a brand new porcelain patio job and a huge garden wall. So, you're not going to want to miss it. But until the next one, guys and girls, cheers, and I'll see you soon. Peace out and pow.
