A common belief in many Latino households…🇲🇽 #parati #foryoupageAdded:
A common belief in many Latino households is that you shouldn't let just anyone touch your hair because of mal de ojo. Growing up I heard my mom, mis abuelitas, a lot of family and friends saying this. Even my nail lady that's from Guanajuato told me that she's very picky about who she lets cut her daughter's hair because she knows that certain people can carry heavy and negative energy. Whether people see it as spiritual or superstition, these beliefs are very real in a lot of Latino families. And I actually have my story with this. When I was about 4 years old, a certain family member cut my hair. I had very curly hair back then. She cut mis chinitos off without asking my mom, without my mom's permission. My mom was so mad because my hair never grew back the same. And like I said, they never asked for my mom's permission. My mom was convinced that this was done maliciously or out of spite. A lot of these beliefs didn't just come out of nowhere. They're actually traced back to certain indigenous traditions. Many indigenous cultures believed and believe that hair is very spiritual.
This was a common phrase and belief that I grew up hearing a lot.
