The REAL Reason Newcastle United Bought Leazes Terrace - East Stand EXPANSION or NEW Stadium?!Added:
Yes. Yes. People, welcome back to the MacB Channel TV. And I bought this handy little mic with me cuz I knew there would be some big news when I'm abroad.
So, you can tell this isn't Newcastle behind me cuz last time when holiday last summer, the whole EAC saga unfolded and I spent mostly holiday doing these videos. Well, I've been here a couple of days. The news broke yesterday about the East Stand. Oh, was going to get expanded or we're doing up St. James Park. We're moving to a new stadium and I thought I'd enjoy the first of my holiday first of all, you know, I mean, first full day and I thought, well, let's sit on it. Let's see what reports come out. Let's see what happens. Cuz immediately when Newcastle released that statement, you thought, ah, they're doing it at the stadium. All the fans online, all the talk was, oh, must be expanding. Then, we can do what I want with the uh Leas Terrace now. It's all good. And that's not quite the case. So, we've seen a bit of nonsense, a bit of madness come out in the last day or so.
So, I thought I'd come on this video, put a thing together of what looks like is going to happen and what I think is going to happen. And let me know in the comments below what you think will happen and what would you like to see happen? Because in an ideal world, we're getting that territory now. If you could expand the current park and keep our historic iconic unique arena, then I wouldn't mind doing that. But I'm also, as I've said in other videos, lean towards that new super stadium for the benefit of everyone going forward. and of course the club, the finances and have that ability to compete with the big sides. But first of all, the news that came out yesterday then I'm sure you have all seen unless you're on a bigger and further away holiday than me and have just not been tuned in. Haven't got Wi-Fi you tell and in the middle of that ocean. Well, the came out newated official statement. No leaks about this by the way. No reports beforehand. All fresh from the horse's mouth. The tune announced it. We have bought Liisa's terrace. But what a lot of people seem to miss in that statement because then they just went on a fairy tale thing of these stand's going to get done. We're going to have a 90k seat stadium. They said they've got no intention of changing it and that's because they can't really. So you can get very technical with this. You can go on about the gray list of buildings and what you can do and then people ask, you know what, you could dismantle a brick by brick and then build it up somewhere else. That's just not going to happen, right? It's not going to happen. But the club themselves said in that statement they are going to preserve the buildings. They they treat the history of it very seriously and the heritage of it and they basically just bought it for financial reasons. They bought it for you wafer reasons. You can see here in this article and and doing a bit of digging, you can see the main reason they bought it and it is also to keep both options on the table. The club have not decided what to do yet officially whether that's that new stadium Eliza Park which does still help by leader by the way. Get to that in a second. but also the current stadium. Can they expand it? Would they expand it? Well, in the first part, this all comes down to how to increase your financial fair play, how to make it easier, how to make it better, and how to compete. Because similar what Chelsea did, bought the bloody hotel next to them and then sold it. Newcastle, this all goes through our business. Our business, wish it was my bloody business. It all goes through the club's business and it all goes through their name. So now they own these as terrace that counts towards your financial fair plays, your squad cost ratios, your wafer, all of that sort of stuff. It all helps towards that because they still said in the statement they're keeping it the same. The student lets whatever everything that's currently happening, they're keeping the same property manager. So now is changing at all yet. So what would change? What could change? Well, I still think that it will be that new stadium in Leis Park. And I think the reason the B laser terrace is for reasons such as having the ability to make a pathway like they've talked about in the past. You know that Wembley Way style entrance is what they've talked about for the Leisas Park Stadium. So you could come in from different sections and have that whole walkway to the ground. They want to make this a big complex. Remember there was talk that it would be surrounded by maybe a hotel or restaurants or bars.
They want to get people in and around the stadium all day long, all week long.
Remember, that was the whole reason of building the stack for financial reasons. So now when they build a new stadium, if they build a new stadium, they want it to be a place where everyone can go and enjoy themselves and spend money all of the time. Not just between 12 and 6 on on a match day or whatever, they want people there match day, all after the match, all night and then all week as well. So, you're bringing some restaurants there. You're bringing some bars there. You're bringing cafes and maybe even office spaces, whatever. Look at Birmingham's new stadium. They've announced that that's what they're doing because then that all of that money you're making every single day goes towards the club.
So, that for me is the most logical reason and that is the most likely outcome. Now, yes, you could say they're going to do up the east stand. You could say maybe extend the gala a little bit, but there's still major issues with those grrey listed buildings. Yes, they have now that right to light which residents would have complained that it would have blocked. Now they've got rid of that in a sense, but they have said they're not really going to touch it.
They're not going to do anything with it. You know, that that may change if that whole leis park thing falls through. Then they might look to say, "Oh, we'll add 5,000 10,000 on East, maybe a cook on the Gala." But I just think it's not those seats that matter for Newcastle football club. It's not those seats. It's lovely for fans and it's great for getting more people in who can't get a ticket, but that's that's not the main reason. And this is not the main reason they're the building the new super stadium. It's all down to money. It's all down to what you can make and then what you can spend and how you grow as a club. So what they want unless that new eastand is going to go up massive and then you're going to have a massive great luxury hospitality lounge around the middle of it and that's going to make you millions a year and then you're going to get a sponsor for that lounge and then you're going to get naming rights for a stadium once it's upgraded. Then maybe yeah, maybe that's the case. But all that money that's going to cost and the time on that if they can't get the Leis Park stadium that they've always wanted, would they not just spend the money on that instead of you know what it would cost to do up the current stadium and then you still got sort of outdated facilities that you continuously upgrade. I mean that eastand hasn't been touched since the 70s. So the work that's going to be required there massive ball. So for me I just think it still points towards a new stadium. The executives and the ballroom and the Saudi Pif they prefer a new stadium.
They want a shiny stadium to show off and a super one. It's all just been because they've wanted it in this location. And this now points to more so being able to do it in that spot because they have bought a bit of that land. So you got less objection there. You've got more pathway there and you've got more rights in and around it. And maybe it gives you a better option if you were to demolish St. James's Park or move it back or whatever to incorporate Leisa's Park stadium. And I think there was still sort of initial ideas and drawings were seen where that new stadium kind of overlaps the current one. That's still what they're going for. That's still what they're hoping for. And then from that side from the Leis Terrace, they can make that more of a complex, make that more going in and around it rather than seeing James Park expansion. I just think that's what is more likely to happen. But could the club look at it and think, well, these are a park's an absolute nightmare. It's taken ages.
Let's just add on some more at the Eastern and see what we can do there.
That's what would be nice to know officially from the club, but they can't announce that yet. Obviously, we had that statement yesterday about buying Laser Terrace where they have said now it's going to change. Keep it as it is.
There you go. That speaks for itself.
But down the line, what's the big goal?
What's the big plan? It still seems to be a new stadium. From what I'm reading, for what I'm hearing and what they've said all along, to be honest with you, what the owners have always wanted is that new stadium. But let us know big news either way and shows that the interest is still there from PF from people that doubted it. But also what came out yesterday was that Pif are getting approached by investors for a potential new stadium that Newcastle are in talks with investors for infrastructure purposes. So new stadium to help with a new training ground and that sort of thing where they're going to sell a minority stake. So that's massive news as well. That's why I had to jump on here, quit the sunbathing for a little bit, not start the seas yet.
Yeah, cheeky while I'm editing this one and enjoying the sunshine. But big news there that Newcastle obviously ban these as terrace open for investors to come in and help out for a minority stake to improve the infrastructure and help with that build because then that also helps on the PSR side of things and all the rest of it. So we're going to be all day and a bit but let us know in the comments what you would prefer and what you see happening. Just briefly on some transfer news. I heard yesterday people messaging me. Is it true Matty Lewis Hall going to Man United? Hall's open to a move. Man United want him as their main left back. They got Champions League. Carrick loves him. The Jordies.
No. Hopefully bloody not. Yeah, I don't think Lewis Hall would push for a move.
Is he open to a move? Well, if Man United or someone else came in Arsenal saying, "Yeah, we'll give you 350 grand a week and you can be playing in a Champions League and do this." Would a discussion maybe be had? Possibly.
Obviously that could easily happen with any player, you know, but the the fact that Alex Crook yesterday and others were coming out and saying, "Ah, he's wanting to move and he's going to sign him and they're going to get it done because he's going to go to the World Cup and his value is going to go up."
Don't believe that for a second. Really don't. Lewis, great lad. Loves Newcastle. He's a boyhood fan. So, he's not going to be a want. It's not in his personality either, unless something's happened behind the scenes because remember when he was getting dropped for bloody damn B and played out position and stuff, but lately things seem to have been solved there. So really hope that's not the case. I think we have to build the team around players like Lewis Hall and um Louis Miley, all of the Lewises really and then obviously keep Captain Bruno and then apart from that not really asked if anyone else goes now that Trippy has left and now that you know Tani might leave and Gordon's going to go. Those are the three main players for me that you need to be keeping as a solid foundation. But I hold for me I don't think you push for a move if Magnet came in and wanted to talk and offer big money. That could be the case with any player in any club in the world. But with Tino Liverto is interesting because the other fullback side of things where he you know has been rumored to go for a while now. It looks likely Man City really wanted him again when I'm on holiday. How how mad is all this news? Man City Pep got leaving there. Arsenal have won the league last night because City couldn't beat Bournemouth. Middlesbrough are now going to be in the playoff final because I haven't got kicked out. Every time I ran away, loads of absolutely mental headlines come out like groundbreaking stuff. So that's why I bought this little baby and that's why I'll still be keeping news update because no doubt tomorrow we'll hear news of Pep coming to Newcastle. Yeah, Eddie house number two. Something happen. Something happen definitely always does with Livernto then AFTV. obviously are very much celebrating at the minute. I've seen their clips because they won the league last night. They also said that Livermento is done. Um Martin there on their show was saying that Marty was saying that you know he said that it's done Livermento to Arsenal. I tell you what, I'm really not bothered. I loved Livernto and we're saying him from Southampton. That's a lovely backdrop.
Enjoy that one. There's Livermento and he's Arsenal. I think I was I was buzzing when we was saying liberals cuz I'd seen him at Southampton and I really rated him and he was class but he's injured all the time man and it looks like he's attitude stunk lately he's cost us some mistakes this year as well to be fair you know he's been a bit sloppy at times so you can get 50 to 60 million for Livero maybe even a little bit more if he wasn't so injuring I'd take that me like and just move on and then spend all summer trying to sign right backs cuz trips left Craft's left if Tino leaves do me lots to do anyways I could be standing here for ages But I'm not. I'm going to go sit down and enjoy the sunshine. I hope you guys are enjoying your day, Peter. Whatever you are up to, let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
