Cooking up a song in the COOLEST genre

[00:00:19]Hey, so you're probably wondering uh what the coolest genre is because you read the title. Um so, let me just specify it is symphonic jazz/ orchestral jazz. Super cool genre. You take an windband or a full orchestra. Combine that with jazz music and style and it's epic. And at the end of the video, there will be a playlist with some cool symphonic jazz songs that I found. And you should give it a listen if you're interested. So, since it's symphonic jazz, we're going to first of all, we're going to load up Monster Sachs.

[00:03:33]It's been a couple days since I worked on this, but I did do a little bit of mixing, some instrumentation stuff here and there, but not add anything new in terms of notes or melody or baseline or chords. So, that's what we're going to do today. First off, we're gonna add all the string instruments because we don't have the violas or the bases.

[00:03:57]I might just quiet it. I just might just quiet it down.

[00:04:05]Okay, before we do anything with extra instrumentation, I'm going to go ahead and like we're just going to cook them on this piano melody since that's a lot easier to manage.

[00:04:21]I did a lot of mining off camera, did a lot of composing off camera, did a lot of cooking up off camera. And essentially, uh, I'm just going to go through all the changes I made. So, I've added this percussion. It's the same rhythm as we've been using before.

[00:04:38]And I've also, what I've done here, something was feeling off here. So I shift this over by one triplet beat and it sounds a lot better and then I added that chord and then I added that uh chord that swings into the next um part of the song. And as you can see we just reused some parts uh as from last recording.

[00:05:00]And then we have this fall-off, which sounds really nice cuz on the blue note, I believe.

[00:05:08]And then here's this wild chord pattern right here. I've uh split the chord between all the parts that we have.

[00:05:17]Uh starting from this point, uh I start trying to make a good second part of the song, but it takes me many long attempts to get it to sound good. We'll start observing my initial attempts. Now, I recorded a no a no facecam session, but I turned off my computer while OBS was still running. So, as you can imagine, I'm cooked. The footage is gone. We have this beautiful melody that we have to fix because it's actually not that great.

[00:06:52]This symphonic jazz. So, we just have the saxophone as another melody. And oh my goodness, it sounds brilliant. Like, listen to this. Listen to this. Listen to this. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on.

[00:07:09]I think it took me like maybe four tries to get this sound good. Five tries, maybe. This might be my fifth try. But oh my goodness, this is the perfect one.
