Ticks Don’t Jump. But…Ajouté :
I just learned something new about ticks that you need to know and I'm here to tell you. Now, most people know ticks don't jump and they don't fly. They just crawl out onto ends of grass and when you walk by, they kind of come upon you.
But, here's the part that surprised me.
Scientists have recently learned that static electricity plays a role in ticks becoming connected to humans and animals for that matter. Think of the static electricity like you shuffling across the carpet and just before you touch the doorknob, pow, it pops you and that static electricity happens. You can build up a charge like that as you're walking through the woods and there's just a slight invisible draw sometimes and I'm talking a minuscule amount from that tick going through the air and through a gap onto your clothing. And yeah, that's a new piece of the puzzle in environmental education, but it doesn't change the prevention for you and I when we go out to deal with ticks.
Permethrin on your clothes works exceptionally well. Just make sure it's dry. Wear long pants and have that permethrin on your pants cuz your legs are the most likely place for them to arrive. And just be aware that when you're going through tall grass, that's the most likely place for ticks to be, so avoid that when you can. Hey, all these little pieces add up and make a beautiful puzzle for you to spend more time and avoid the ticks when you're out there cuz the best classroom has no walls. Hey, I got a free course about safety in the outdoors. Just click below.
