Prostate cancer affects one in eight men, with higher rates among African-American men (one in six), and early detection through regular PSA testing every 6 months starting at age 40-45 (or age 40 with two first-degree relatives) can significantly improve outcomes. Prevention involves adopting an anti-inflammatory diet by limiting red meat, processed meats with nitrites/nitrates, sugars, refined foods, and trans fats, while increasing fiber intake. Supplements like DIM (diindolylmethane from broccoli) and curcumin (active turmeric) can help prevent prostate cancer by inhibiting cancer stem cells and blocking nuclear factor kappa beta. Treatment options include proton beam therapy (non-invasive, 6 weeks, no downtime), HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound), and robotic prostatectomy, with early-stage cancer often being curable.

[music] [music] [singing] [music] [singing] [music] >> Hey everyone and welcome back to the Believer's Voice of Victory Broadcast.
[music] I'm Courtney Copeland and today I am joined by my grandparents Dr. Dr. Don Colbert and his amazing wife Mary Colbert. Dr. Colbert is a board-certified anti-aging specialist and he is helping us live long and strong. Everything we're talking about you can go into detail in his new book on but for today we are diving deep into prostate.
Yes, absolutely.
>> that might be a first on the Believer's Voice of Victory Broadcast.
>> that women say, "Well, I can turn this show off." No, don't turn this show off because you've got a husband or a son or a father that has a prostate and they need to be monitored because we can prevent prostate diseases.
Uh now again, one in eight men will develop prostate cancer but one in eight women will develop breast cancer.
And what's even more alarming is one in six black men will develop prostate cancer and of men that develop prostate cancer the vast majority don't die from it. However, in black men black men are more prone to die from prostate cancer. So, it's really important to know your numbers, get them checked. I'd I'd recommend checking them every 6 months.
But if you have a first-degree relative, a brother, um a father with uh prostate cancer, if you have one first-degree relative, you should be checked at age 45 and I check every 6 months thereafter. And if you have two first-degree relatives with prostate cancer, you should be checked first at age 40.
So again, you need to know your numbers and check them regularly. Now, what causes people are asking, "Why are we seeing so much prostate cancer?"
Well, the same reason we're seeing so much breast cancer, because it's our diet. Most Americans, unfortunately, eat an inflammatory diet and too much red meat. When you eat a lot of red meat, red meat can predispose one to prostate cancer and also to breast cancer. So, what I tell patients, if you're going to eat a steak, you know, it's best to eat limit your red meat to maybe once or twice a week.
And if you do eat grass-fed red meat and the leanest forms of red meat. Now, why?
Because red meat can trigger these cancers. And uh >> And that goes for pork? And pork, too.
Absolutely.
>> say red meat, I think it's important to >> It's red meat, uh pork, and uh beef.
Yeah.
>> But also, I tell people, if you do eat these, fiber covers a multitude of dietary sin.
Uh we have a fiber, Fiber Zone. It's tastes like key lime pie. Uh I take a heaping scoop every night after dinner.
But you can also get psyllium husk powder. Ours is flavored with stevia.
But when you eat when I eat red meat, if it's a burger, like we have a Mary loves this one burger that's really good at 1845. So, we'll eat I'll eat that maybe once a month.
>> uh it tastes really good, but afterwards, I always have my fiber.
And this the other thing that will increase the risk of breast cancer and prostate cancer are nitrites and nitrates. Now, it's in some of your favorite foods. It's in bacon, sausage, it's in um processed meats like your deli meats.
Yeah, even turkey and even beef will have that um nitrites and nitrates in them, which convert to nitrosamines, which are carcinogens. So, if we eat these foods, uh again, it's best to have fiber, because fiber will bind them and and pull them out of the body. Or get uh deli meats that are not full of nitrites and nitrates that are oven-roasted.
Other foods that do it are just the other inflammatory inflammatory foods we eat. Sugars, refined foods, the whites, the white rice, the white potatoes, then some potatoes, the white bread, all the processed breads that we eat, rolls and biscuits and all that's highly inflammatory. Trans fats are extremely inflammatory. Trans fats are fats that are in cookies, they're in microwave pizzas, microwave biscuits, they're in cake cake icing, they're in pie crust, and those fats are highly inflammatory to the body. You're inviting inflammation into the body, which cancer can take a foothold when you eat inflammatory foods. And so these are some of the key inflammatory foods. And then saturated fats, when you eat a lot of saturated fats, a lot of butter, a lot of cheese, a lot of cream, a lot of fatty meats, fatty meats are like T-bone steaks, rib eyes, brisket, ribs, these are just full of these saturated fats, coconut oil, and too many saturated fats create inflammation in the body. That's why we have the healthy keto diet or what I call beyond keto and the healthy Mediterranean diet, two of the healthiest diets in the world. They keep it Now men, if your wives just your wife just drug you in here to hear this episode for the first time through the series, I'm going to give you a disclaimer.
We are faithful people. Yes.
>> And knowing and being aware, you keep quoting the scripture, "My people perish for a lack of knowledge." We need to understand these things.
>> of faith.
>> Not lack of faith, that's right. And we've talked about joining this with the faith that we have. Understanding these things is so vital to for us to be able to live the long life that God's intended for us. Could you explain to everyone listening what the the real risk is of just being completely unaware of low prostate.
How is it affecting men in their everyday life?
>> Well, what happens again, once a man hits around 50, what happens is testosterone levels start to go down. In fact, about 50% or 40 40% of men over 40 to 50% have low testosterone levels.
When that happens, another hormone starts to upregulate, which is the body produces too much dihydrotestosterone.
Dihydrotestosterone causes the prostate to enlarge. The prostate is supposed to be the size of a little ping pong ball. It grows, it grows, it grows. That dihydro makes it grow larger and larger. And eventually, the urethra, which where you urinate, goes between goes inside the prostate. The prostate goes is wrapped around it. So, as the prostate enlarges, it can enlarge outward or inward and pinch off the flow of urine. So, men have to get up multiple times a night and urinate cuz the prostate's growing because of that bad boy dihydrotestosterone.
Dihydrotestosterone can also cause the as the prostate grows, it can fuel prostate cancer. So, when a person what happens after age 50, we need to start monitoring at least every 6 month or every year. I would try to do it every 6 months. And we watch the PSA velocity. What does PSA stand for?
Prostate specific antigen. When you have prostate cancer, the PSA starts to rise.
And first it'll start rising slowly, then it'll start rising rapidly. So, we measure the PSA velocity on repeated levels. Like if you check it every 6 months, if it's rising rapidly, that's a sign that there's a prostate cancer forming. There's tests we can do called MRI of the prostate that will tell us if it's a prostate cancer.
You can men need to have a a digital rectal exam once a year at least to see if you have a nodule. Only about 70% of nodules of the prostate are cancerous, but it it uh you should probably have an MRI just to make sure.
So, again, what we do is we monitor this and we put people on supplements that help protect them against prostate cancer. The key thing is your diet. If you're on an anti-inflammatory diet, many times that's enough. But, then there's other supplements that help men prevent prostate cancer and help women prevent breast cancer. And so, see, uh one in eight women develop breast cancer, one in eight men develop prostate cancer. But, if you're African-American, one in six. So, especially for you.
>> they the African-American are more likely to die. Why?
>> cancer.
>> Why is that? Why are they more likely to die?
>> Because they have lower vitamin D. We're going to talk about vitamin D later. Oh.
Because the melanin the melanin they have increased melanin, which is a natural skin uh sun protector, and it's uh and so, they don't absorb enough vitamin D. You know, they don't make enough vitamin D because they the the sunlight cannot make >> they need to be taking vitamin D in the outside?
>> They need to take vitamin D because they have uh generally it'll help prevent those aggressive uh prostate cancers. Yes. Okay. And how do we encourage Mary how do we encourage the women who are watching this who maybe their husbands won't sit down with them and and sit through this? How are we encouraging them to go get checked?
Well, again, what we're supposed to do what you should do. You love your spouse, so again, uh you want to encourage them at least get a PSA every year or every 6 months. So, we do it every 6 months on our patients. And if we notice that PSA velocity going up, we correct it. We put them on DIM, d i n di indole-3-carbinol, 150 mg twice a day.
And uh again, we monitor. We also put them on the strong curcumin or active form turmeric, but the curcumin is the active form, and that helps to prevent prostate cancer and it activates your body's own immune system so that cancer cells can undergo apoptosis or programmed cell death. It starts to prevent cancer stem cells. It also turns off the cancer switch which is nuclear factor kappa beta as well as vitamin D does that but also DIM dim and curcumin do the same thing. And so it literally helps prevent cancer. I take these supplements every day You know, I think it's I think it's important because when people hear you know cancer that that you know today that is just you know that creates a fear that goes right through people.
But can I tell you some good news? Today medicine has has gone so far that really and truly breast cancer prostate cancer >> to worry about now.
>> You shouldn't die from that today.
>> at all.
>> There is if we get it early enough and that's the key.
>> It's easy to clear.
>> it early enough really and truly you should live a long full life. They have they have it made so many advances. Now Don what are some of the surgeries that you recommend cuz this is going to be the biggest question that people are going to ask is what would Dr. Colbert recommend if >> Well if a person if a man had prostate cancer the one I love is the proton beam. I've had so many people go in for the proton beam. It's about five days a week for about 6 weeks. It's only like a few minutes maybe 5 minutes or so.
There's no It's >> It's not really invasive.
>> the proton beam is unlike the external beam. The external beam radiation burns going in and coming out. This literally just targets just the cancer. So it zaps the prostate cancer you have just small amounts every day for 6 weeks and then it evaporates with no pain no downtime.
It's absolutely amazing. Most large cities have a proton beam center in many large hospitals that used to there's only a few like Loma Linda was one of the first in this country and then now most every major city has a proton beam center. Now another alternative which many of my patients have decided to use is HIFU, high intensity focused ultrasound which can be done in an outpatient type center and this is using high intensity ultrasound that literally evaporates the prostate. So those two are my favorite.
>> me ask you when I hear the word evaporate the Well, it heats it up. It heats it up.
>> Okay. And it targets it. So it it evaporates the cancer not the prostate.
And the prostate too.
>> does it. So the men don't really need their prostate after >> No, you don't need it. Yeah.
>> after And so yeah, so the proton beam exactly. And so the proton beam I think is my first choice but some people can't afford it and HIFU is uh cheaper.
There's also DaVinci method robotic prostatectomy which is surgery which is you lose quite a bit of blood. A lot of people do and it's more painful. It's harder with with the other there's literally hardly any downtime. And then there's external seeds or radioactive seeds they can implant which is but that's again I don't like that as well as the proton beam.
>> How is it affecting their intimacy with their wife after doing this? Can they still >> Proton beam is usually no problem with with the robotic prostatectomy with they're using you know DaVinci which is robotic prostatectomy now is usually nerve sparing but some men can never have you know intercourse with their wife after that. So that's why the I think the proton beam is the best.
>> it. They think I'd rather die. But no, but but [laughter] the proton beam they rarely they don't have it near as frequent. It does occur but not near as frequent. HIFU is not as bad. Okay.
>> And the radioactive seeds that's a problem sometimes with radioactive seeds, but it's not severe. So, there's many ways to treat it. The key is just diagnosing it early, see? And you can diagnose it with an MRI of the prostate.
It diagnoses it.
>> the point.
>> But, you have to have a biopsy to actually diagnose it. That's the whole point of the book of these 2-weeks of broadcast is you go get test your your blood work done, you see your numbers, you get tested so you can avoid all these things that we just Because it's silent. That's right. The prostate is cancer it well, like I say, if you're eating an inflammatory diet like so many Americans do, you're unknowingly inviting prostate cancer in. So, we do the PSA, we check the PSA velocity by monitoring it every 6 months. If it's going up, we recommend an MRI of the prostate, simple test, it'll tell us if it looks like cancer, if it doesn't. If it does look like cancer, they'll generally do a biopsy, and then after the biopsy, I usually send them for proton beam, and then most most of them are healed. We catch it early and just zap it.
>> If someone is kind of weighing their pro and con decision-making list on if they should move forward with a procedure like that, can you help maybe a listener kind of process that pros and cons list?
>> Well, a lot of times if we people come in and I see their PSAs rising. What would it be a high? What would be a really concern if you >> Well, anything over four.
Four?
>> If anything over 4.0 is is a concern.
Now, if it's a young man, anything over 2.5. If a man's is is less than 50 or less than 60, excuse me, anything greater than 2.5 would be major concern.
So, I monitor it, and what I do as I'm monitoring it, I put them on these herbs and diet. I use my either Beyond Keto diet with lots of that high-phenolic olive oil, avocado oil. I get them off these inflammatory foods. I get them off the red meat or have them take the Fiber Zone after eating red meat or eating have them cut back on on bacon if they don't want to cut back, just take the fibers out afterwards or some fiber you like. And then also cut back the sweets.
I cut back the the egg yolks. A lot of egg yolks can also fuel it, as well as the highly processed food and the the saturated fats. We get them on a on a healthy keto diet with low low saturated fats a health or a healthy Mediterranean diet without the gluten. Those are inflammatory.
And then we put them on the DIM. Now I'm sometimes I'll go up to DIM instead of 150 mg twice a day, I'll go up to 300 to 450 mg twice a day and I'll boost my curcumin.
I'll I'll use pumpkin seed oil and turn that dihydrotestosterone way down because that can fuel prostate cancer.
And these things are just simple things.
Sometimes I'll add lycopene from tomatoes. That works really good with prostate cancer and stopping it. So if it's early, we can many times use some of these powerful phytonutrients with pumpkin seed oil and stop it entirely.
And so that's the watch and wait. Like a person has had a biopsy, they have early prostate cancer. They go to their doctor and they say, "Well, the PSA is still normal. It's not rising rapidly. We can watch and wait." And those people I will use the higher dose DIM maybe 300 mg twice a day, as well as the >> [clears throat] >> curcumin. Now tell them what DIM is. The DIM is diindolylmethane from cruciferous from broccoli.
And it's like having a pound of broccoli two or three times a day. [laughter] But it literally >> Concentrated. What it does it it it inhibits prostate cancer stem cells.
>> is so good for you.
>> Well, now now this is like having a ton of broccoli. But but what it does it it inhibits the this cancer stem cells and it helps the the prostate cancer undergo apoptosis and it blocks this driver of prostate cancer which is nuclear factor kappa beta which also vitamin D does the same thing. And so does curcumin, or which is the active form of turmeric. So, when you do all of those, you're And then add some lycopene from tomatoes, oh my goodness. We've We stopped some cancers, they're not growing at all.
>> Wow. And the body literally turns off these cancer switches, and many people start to heal right then. If we catch it early enough. What are Go ahead. You know, it's amazing to me how God has made our body to heal.
>> Yeah. If you give the body the right support, he's already put the healing in it. Oh, there's the herbs of the field for the healing of the nations. And what's so exciting, the healing herbs that dim from broccoli is one of the most powerful anti-cancer herbs for the prostate and the breast, women. You can take 150 mg twice a day, it helps prevent breast cancer. It lowers that estradiol level, and it also helps to increase the two hydroxy estriol estrone, excuse me, that prevents breast cancer. So, it's it's really good. And also curcumin turmeric, or the active form of turmeric, is really good for women, too. It helps with your joints, it helps with your brain, it prevents heart disease, and it prevents cancer.
It's so exciting. Everyone should be on those.
>> You know, when you understand, and you fully wrap your brain around the fact that inflammation is your enemy. It is. Absolutely.
>> in your body and every level. And we think of every inflammation, we think, "Oh, if I get a splinter in my hand and it swells up and it hurts." You know, you think, "I should feel inflammation cuz I I think of it like a splinter in my hand."
It doesn't work like that internally.
You don't even feel the inflammation.
>> You don't. It's silent. It's silent many No, most of the time it is silent.
Unless you have a sore throat, strep throat, you have COVID and you're feeling horrible, that's high inflammation. But, let me explain too, if you have an elevated PSA, it may not be cancer at all. It could be an enlargement of the prostate due to that dihydrotestosterone being upregulated as we get over 50. It can also be due to a prostate infection. Yes, as men's prostate as men get older, their prostate grows larger and they have urinary retention and they're more prone to prostate infections. So, we just treat those with antibiotics for 2 to 4 weeks and clears it up. So, don't freak out if your PSA's a little high.
Usually, it's just enlargement or an infection and it's usually not prostate cancer. So, in addition to having the awareness that of the diagnosis and in addition to taking all the things that sounded like a third language to me, >> [laughter] >> what are the scriptural foundations that everyone needs to be standing on during these processes?
>> You know, I believe that the word of God it is the authority in your health, period. Um it is the final authority to whatever it is you're battling, whatever it is that you're facing, his wisdom his wisdom is right here in his word to guide you through whatever is going on with you. And I believe just finding scriptures that declare that you have already been healed. You are already healed.
>> 1 Peter 2:24. Who he himself bore your sins on the cross that you being dead to sins you'll live under righteousness. By whose stripes you were healed 2, over 2,000 years ago. And again, you stand on the word, you speak the word, you speak healing to your prostate, and also, "With long life I will satisfy you and show you my salvation." Psalms 91:16.
So, he's giving you a he's promised you a long life. Prostate cancer is not going to shorten your life. You're going to have a long life. He's sent his word and healed you. And that's his word. I I I wish more people would from that place of recognizing you're not trying to get convince God that you're worthy of healing. He did it already 2,000 years ago. You got to walk in it. You got to use these tools. He's already done it.
>> We just have to recognize it, speak it, and receive it. You know, it's important that you understand that God is not a child abuser. Even if you have sinned, let's say you have done something and you feel shame, you feel guilty, you're battling all of your things that someone battles with when they know that they have gone against something that the word teaches, whatever it is. You You didn't walk in love towards someone and you did something malicious and evil against them, whatever it is.
The point is forgiveness is immediate.
God's forgiveness is immediate.
And you can receive it immediately. And that is so amazing about the spirit of God is because he if he is in you, the power of the healing God is in you to heal your body. Now, sometimes he is going to require us to walk through some things with wisdom because maybe we've been smoking, drinking, doing drugs, and things that harm the body that we have to own. We have to own the fact that maybe we haven't done everything to take care of this body. You've abused the temple. We've abused the temple. We weigh 300 lb. We've gorged ourselves. We didn't do things >> your weight limits. Your knees and hips are needing knee replacement, hip replacement.
>> Okay. That may be you, but that's okay.
With God, he doesn't hold that against you. He's not trying to teach you through hurting you or putting you in pain. That is not the God we serve.
>> Amen. Amen. And that I just think you got to keep going. If you're listening and watching this and you've never made the Lord the savior of your life, I want you Mary, I want you to lead everyone in that. It's all over you right now. Okay. You know, it is important that you understand and if you don't understand it's because you're outside the family right now and you're like, "What are they talking about?"
We are talking about the king of the universe loves you.
He died for you. If nobody else would ever accept him, if no one else would ever surrender their life but you, he'd have gone for you.
That's how important you are to him and that's the truth. That is not religion.
That is not some sort of theological statement. That is the word of God. He loves you and it's so simple. And people go, "No, no, I need to do this. I need to No, mhm, no. [laughter] He's already done it."
>> He's done it all.
>> He did it. He did it 2,000 years ago and ever since then, every sin ever committed for now and even into the future, he paid that price. He paid it for you, paid for me, and paid for Courtney, all of us. And there's nothing we can do to ever earn that forgiveness.
Nothing. It's free. It's a gift. Receive that gift. It's that simple. And people go, "But no, it can't be." Yes. It's that simple.
>> He's already done all the work. All you do is just receive it.
>> Just receive his love. And all you Let's do this right now. If this is the first time you've ever prayed this prayer and you've heard about being saved, then it's so simple. But you got to mean it.
You got to mean it from your heart. You got to mean it with every fiber in your body.
Lord Jesus, I submit myself to you right now. I repent. I haven't been following you. I haven't been obeying you. But Lord, right now, I want to make you Lord. I want to make you Lord over my life. I truly do.
Please forgive me. Come in. Take my life. Use me for your kingdom. No longer my will, Lord. I cry, "Thy will be done in my life."
And I receive you by faith in Jesus' name. Amen. If you have prayed that prayer, it's that simple. It is that simple. It's just that easy. If you have prayed that prayer, Kenneth Copeland wants to send you a gift. And Courtney, you tell them about this gift. I'm so excited to offer you our salvation package. It's completely free.
