[00:01:11]And in this one, we are starting with book 21, which is Jingo.

[00:01:20]So, Terry Pratchett Discworld novel.

[00:01:27]This is one I have not read.

[00:01:29]I have um more than half of the books. And any of the books I don't have, I'm just going to be reading the blurb of the book on my Kindle for you.

[00:01:44]Um I have maybe the first half of these.

[00:01:48]Towards the end, it's going to be a lot of Kindle.

[00:01:54]But we'll still be doing book sounds, though.

[00:01:59]So, on the front of this, we have a crow here crowing.

[00:02:07]Some guys in turbans, one with a big knife, one with an oar.

[00:02:15]And the crow is just part of a north, east, south, west kind of thing.

[00:02:25]I don't know what this one is. Looks like a T, maybe.

[00:03:24]The crow looks to be in much distress, even though it's probably mental.

[00:03:39]But once again, with the whole like Terry Pratchett illustrations, it is a little knobbly, and I don't know, some of it's a bit gross. It's not my favorite, but it's very nostalgic.

[00:03:54]And look back we have another part of that ship. Does it wrap? It does wrap. All of the covers wrap fully all the way around.

[00:04:11]So, Discworld goes to war with armies of sardines, warriors, fishermen, squid and at least one very camp follower.

[00:04:27]As two armies march, Commander Vimes of Ankh-Morpork City Watch faces unpleasant foes who are out to get him.

[00:04:40]And that's just the people on his side.

[00:04:44]The enemy might be even worse. I do like the story lines with Commander Vimes in them.

[00:04:53]Jingo, the 21st in Terry Pratchett's phenomenally successful Discworld series, makes the World Cup look like a friendly five-a-side.

[00:05:18]Pratchett's writing is a constant light.

[00:05:22]No one mixes the fantastical and mundane to better comic effect or offers sharper insights into the absurdities of human endeavor.

[00:06:25]Um there's not many books in English in France or in I was gifted the entire Terry Pratchett bibliography on my Kindle, so I still will be reading all of these, but I'm just making a little space in my home.

[00:06:59]So, let's go on to book number 22.

[00:07:05]And book number 22 is The Last Continent.

[00:07:11]So, we're talking Australia.

[00:07:14]I have not read this one either, and I think I'm really going to enjoy it. I love anything to do with Australia, Australia, New Zealand. I I really do enjoy things to do with them.

[00:07:27]When I was younger, I used to watch Neighbours and Home and Away as a teenager.

[00:07:34]Love it.

[00:07:36]So, Terry Pratchett, a Discworld novel, The Last Continent.

[00:07:41]And we have a rather gnarly-looking kangaroo with someone on his back.

[00:07:51]And here, probably an emu.

[00:07:54]An emu or emu, depending on where you're from.

[00:07:59]For me, I would say emu.

[00:11:14]And this one I have read and very much enjoyed.

[00:11:19]And it was save £2 on marked price. I got this in a charity shop, so you can maybe find the little 50p written on the inside of one of these.

[00:13:45]They've got style and fancy waistcoats.

[00:13:50]They're out of the casket and want a bite of the future. Mightily Oats knows he has a prayer, but he wishes he had an axe.

[00:14:03]Carpe Jugulum is Terry Pratchett's 23rd Discworld novel, but the first to star vampires.

[00:16:01]So, I have read this one. It was a long time ago. This might actually be one of my original ones that I had when I was younger.

[00:16:12]My mom and my [clears throat] older brother also read a lot of Terry Pratchett.

[00:16:35]All these scary little wolves at the bottom.

[00:17:12]And on the back, we have a woman on top of one of the big wolves. And again, with a big sword. Awesome.

[00:17:19]Seems to both be Yeah, they seem to both be on the wolf. A little awkwardly drawn though.

[00:17:28]Sam Vimes is a man on the run.

[00:17:32]Yesterday, he was a duke, a chief of police, and the ambassador to the mysterious fat rich country of Überwald.

[00:17:45]Now, he has nothing but his native wit and the gloomy trousers of Uncle Vanya.

[00:17:55]It's snowing, it's freezing, and if he can't make it through the forest to civilization, there's going to be a terrible war.

[00:18:06]But there are monsters on his trail.

[00:18:09]They're bright, they're fast, they're werewolves, and they're catching up.

[00:19:15]It's a little scuffed off.

[00:19:18]I'm pretty sure this one was a charity shop one.

[00:19:21]And I did not read this one, I don't think. It's possible that I did, but a long time ago.

[00:19:29]This one is real scuffed up.

[00:20:04]You can almost not even see that the The Truth.

[00:20:10]As you can see the embossed part, the light.

[00:20:17]There's even a scribble on it, the bends wiggle.

[00:20:21]You can see a nun, or somebody dressed up as a nun more like.

[00:20:27]Shut down here, a big printing press.

[00:20:30]And a lot lot lot lot lot little characters everywhere.

[00:20:40]This one isn't wrapped, but um the picture doesn't go all the way through.

[00:20:49]So, the trade the trade.

[00:20:58]William just wants to get at the trade.

[00:21:02]Unfortunately, everyone else wants to get at William.

[00:21:07]and it's only the third edition.

[00:21:11]William de Word is the accidental editor of the Discworld's first newspaper.

[00:21:22]Now he must cope with the traditional perils of a journalist's life.

[00:21:28]People who want him dead, a recovering vampire with a suicide fascination for flash photography, some more people who want him dead in a different way, and worst of all, the man who keeps begging him to publish pictures of his humorously shaped potatoes. I have a feeling I might have read this one actually.

[00:22:01]The truth is an unmitigated delight and very, very funny.

[00:22:08]The pace is compelling, but he never lets the tale descend into simple farce. Peter Ingram, The Times.

[00:23:20]And we have Thief of Time.

[00:23:23]This one is very colorful. I like it.

[00:23:26]The dark [snorts] purple leading down into the orange.

[00:23:32]Which is bright.

[00:23:36]I'm pretty sure I've read this one, too.

[00:23:38]You can see that.

[00:23:40]>> [sighs] >> You can see these big towering towers.

[00:23:46]Small buildings.

[00:23:50]People working in the bottom.

[00:23:53]The horse smiths.

[00:23:57]Trying to Time is a resource.

[00:24:40]Everyone knows it has to be managed.

[00:24:45]And on Discworld, that is the job of the monks of history who store it up and pump it from the places where it's wasted.

[00:24:57]like underwater.

[00:24:59]How much time does a codfish need to places like cities where there's never enough time? Yeah, I have read this one long time ago though.

[00:25:11]But, the construction of the world's first truly accurate clock starts a race against, well, time.

[00:25:21]For Ludsy and his apprentice, Lob Sangland, because it will stop time.

[00:25:29]And that will only be the start of everyone's problems.

[00:25:33]Thief of Time comes complete with a full supporting cast of heroes and villains.

[00:25:41]Yetis, martial artists, and Ronnie, the fifth horseman of the apocalypse, who left before they became famous.

[00:25:53]In a better world, he would be acclaimed as a great writer, rather than a merely successful one.

[00:26:01]This is the best Pratchett I've read.

[00:26:04]Ought to be a strong contender for the Booker Prize.

[00:29:10]But he can't always remember these days where he put his teeth.

[00:29:16]So now, with his ancient sword and his new walking stick and his old friends and their very old friends, Cohen the Barbarian is going on one final quest.

[00:29:31]He's going to climb the highest mountain in Discworld and meet his gods.

[00:29:38]The last hero in the world is going to return what the first hero stole, or with a vengeance. That'll mean the end of the world if no one stops him in time.

[00:29:59]So, on to book number 28.

[00:30:04]And book 28 is The Amazing Maurice and his educated rodents.

[00:30:11]I have never read this one. I wonder if this is one of the YA ones. I know he did a few YA ones. This might be part of it.

[00:30:19]Okay, so 2008, 292 pages. So, not a super long one.

[00:30:29]The book that inspired the big hit new film starring Emilia Clarke, Himesh Patel, David Tennant, Hugh Laurie, and Joe Sugg.

[00:30:41]Coming the 16th of December. I was not aware of any films apart from like the Hogfather, things like that.

[00:30:51]Terry Pratchett is seen with amazing content from scripts to film art.

[00:30:58]Okay.

[00:31:00]Even wizards produce leftovers.

[00:31:04]But a wizard's rubbish is laced with magic, and for the rats that forage this rubbish, the magic has changed them.

[00:31:12]Oh, okay.

[00:31:14]They can speak and read and have rather grand ambitions for a comfortable retirement, which is perfect for a con cat like Maurice.

[00:31:28]He has his own magical talents and wants to get rich quick.

[00:31:34]Together with the rats and young Keith the piper, they work the towns to create their very own plague of rats, then lure them away for cash.

[00:31:49]But in the rundown town Bad Blintz, this little con goes wrong and suddenly these educated rodents aren't playing to the piper's tune.

[00:32:02]An astonishing novel, said the Financial Times.

[00:32:07]Yeah, I've never read that one. I wonder if it's one of the way he wants to.

[00:32:13]Okay, on to book number 29.

[00:32:18]And 29 is Night Watch, one of my favorites, favorites, favorites, favorites.

[00:32:25]Night Watch.

[00:32:33]It's also one of the kind of newer ones where it's not wrapped around and it's probably not curvy.

[00:32:42]I did the drawing, so I feel like This one's all pretty scuffed.

[00:33:00]Pretty scuffed and well-loved, not just by me.

[00:33:13]Truth, justice, freedom, and a hard-boiled egg.

[00:33:19]Commander Sam Vimes of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch had it all.

[00:33:26]But now he's back in his own rough, tough past without even the clothes he was standing up in when the lightning struck.

[00:33:37]Living in the past is hard.

[00:33:40]Dying in the past is incredibly easy.

[00:33:43]But he must survive because he has a job to do. He must track down a murderer, teach his younger self how to be a good copper, and change the outcome of a bloody rebellion.

[00:33:58]There's a problem. If he wins, he's got no wife, no child, no future.

[00:34:05]A Discworld tale of one city with a full chorus of street urchins, ladies of negotiable affection, rebel street policemen, and other children of the revolution. Secret policemen, sorry, not street policemen.

[00:34:24]He is a satirist of enormous talent. His jokes slide under your skin as swiftly as a hypodermic syringe, leaving you giggling helplessly Fiona who the times.

[00:38:00]In the small, yet aggressive country of Borogravia, there are strict rules citizens must follow.

[00:38:11]For a start, women belong in the kitchen, not in jobs, pubs, or indeed trousers, and certainly not on the front line. I've read this one.

[00:38:23]Polly Perks has to become a boy in a hurry if she wants to find her missing brother in the army.

[00:38:31]Cutting off her hair and wearing the trousers is easy.

[00:38:37]Going to war, however, is not.

[00:38:41]Polly and her fellow wee Auroran creeps are suddenly in the thick of a losing battle. All they have on their side is the most artful sergeant in the army and a vampire with a lust for coffee.

[00:49:06]Saying it with frozen roses, and icebergs on the Chalk Free Man.

[00:49:25]He's showing her with snowflakes, and offering her a crown of ice, which is creepy, but also [clears throat] a little bit cool.

[00:49:34]Now, she's dancing to his tune. She can't change the steps.

[00:49:41]But, unless Tiffany can work out how to deal with the Winter Smith, there won't never be another springtime.

[00:56:08]Tiffany Aching performs the distinctly unglamorous work of caring for the needy.

[00:56:16]But, someone or something is enticing fear, generating dark thoughts and angry murmurs against witches.

[00:56:27]Tiffany must find the source of unrest and defeat the evil at its root.

[00:56:35]Aided by the tiny but tough Wee Free Men, Tiffany faces a dire challenge.

[00:56:43]For, if she falls, the whole Chalk falls with her. Chalk rings a bell. I think that's just the name of the town, like her village from the other books, too.

[00:57:19]Everyone sees where you go, and you never know who is behind a hedge.

[00:57:26]And if you're very unlucky, the person behind the hedge could have very unfriendly intentions.

[00:57:35]It may look idyllic, but the countryside isn't all flowers and thatched cottages and bracing walks in your best tweed.

[00:57:47]Beneath the greenery lies a dark underbelly and there's something about rambling country houses that attracts dastardly plots and grisly murder.

[00:58:01]A challenge for any detective, but especially for one bred in the city who doesn't understand the way things are done.

[00:58:12]In the countryside, people know their place and everyone else's place, too, especially if it's beneath their own.

[00:58:22]And they have some rather old-fashioned ideas about people who are different from them.

[00:58:29]It's an odd one. It doesn't really say anything about who's in it, like character-wise, doesn't talk about magic.

[00:58:42]On to number 40, book number 40, Raising Steam, Discworld novel 40.

[01:00:14]A brand new invention has come to the city, a steam locomotive named Iron Girdle, to be precise. With the railway's introduction and rapid expansion, Vetinari enlists Moist to represent the government and keep things on track.

[01:00:35]But as with all new technology, some people have objections and Moist will have to use every trick in his arsenal to keep the trains running.

[01:00:48]Raising Steam is the third and final book in the Industrial Revolution series.

[01:00:57]So, on I'm I'm so happy that there was a third one. I didn't know there was a third one of that and I didn't know there was another one of the Tiffany Aching series. So, I'm happy about both of those.

[01:01:09]On to our last one, number 41 is our final final book.

[01:01:15]The Shepherd's Crown, a Discworld novel by young 41, and it is another Tiffany Aching one.

[01:01:25]Okay, I'm pretty happy about that. Okay, the ebook edition includes an exclusive commentary on the witches of Discworld written by Jacqueline Simpson, co-author of the folklore of Discworld.

[01:01:40]I wonder what my one does.

[01:01:42]A shivering of worlds. Deep in the chalk, something is stirring.

[01:02:59]And to think that he is now gone. There will never be another Terry Pratchett book.

[01:03:05]But honestly, we're kind of spoiled for choice. He was prolific.
