The victim screamed, begged them to stop, then went silent. But 65% kept going, all the way to the final switch, the switch labeled danger severe shock. The terrifying truth the victims were actors, but the volunteers didn't know that. They thought they were killing someone, and they did it anyway because authority told them to.
