Infectious disease doctor weighs in on hantavirus risk

[00:00:00]New information that a Bend doctor has potentially tested positive for the hantavirus, but an infectious disease expert here at OHSU and Vector Control in Multnomah County say the chances of a wide-range global pandemic from the hantavirus are very slim. The Bend doctor is under quarantine after helping passengers who fell ill during that international cruise affected by hantavirus. Three cruise ship passengers have died while six people with confirmed or suspected cases are being quarantined. Coming up here on Friday, the professor will give a lecture on the hantavirus that was scheduled well before this outbreak. He says his lesson is changing by the day.
