Female singers can achieve guttural screaming vocals by building screams on a clean singing voice rather than breath, using nasal and choked vocal production to create distortion, and shaping the tongue to produce brutal guttural sounds; since everyone's voice is different, techniques may need adjustment for individual results.

GUTTURAL SCREAMING VOCALS (For Women)
Added:Just because you're a female doesn't mean that you can't sound brutal. So, in this video, I'm going to show you how to do gutturals and nasty screaming vocals if you're a female. So, the first thing you need to understand is how it's possible for female voices to do this.
So, for starters, the male and female voice are pretty much exactly the same.
The only difference is that female voices tend to be higher than male voices. But, other than that, they both have vocal cords, false cords, arytenoids, etc. And even though a woman's voice might tend to be a little higher than males' voices, you can still get super brutal.
All you need to do is you first need to get a base distortion. For example, and then use tongue shapes to INFLUENCE THE SOUND.
>> [groaning] >> SO, OKAY, LET'S GET INTO how to do a guttural. So, keep in mind that this is only one type of scream, and there's many different ways about going about it.
Um, and everybody's different. So, if the following method I show you doesn't work for you, then don't worry because that's normal. Everybody's voice is different, and there really isn't a one-size-fits-all approach that works for everyone.
So, if you want to go deeper than the method that I'm going to show you in this video, click the link in the description, and it'll give you a free training that will go deeper into the anatomy of screams and give you different approaches to do these uh to to do different screams. So, Okay, anyway. Um, so, let's get into how to actually do one way on how to do uh gutturals. So, um so, the first thing is that a lot of people think that you want to build a scream on top of breath.
>> [sighs] >> But, if you do that, that tends to lead to airy, BREATHY, QUIET SCREAMS.
UM and what a lot of people don't know is that the majority of screams are built upon your clean singing voice. So, I want you to first start by singing a note in a very nasal way.
Now, because I'm a male, my voice will likely be a little lower than yours, so don't necessarily mimic the pitch that I use for my scream.
But, instead, find a pitch that works for your voice, that feels comfortable and you can be really loud with. This is important because if you build your scream on top of a note that's hard to get loud with, then that will prevent your end result scream from being as loud and full as it can be. So, once again, don't mimic my male voice's pitch, find a pitch that works for you.
So, once you find a note, and for me it's then what I want you to do next is get distortion on top of it. And you want to do this by getting very, very nasal with it and even acting a bit choked.
And if you do that, then you'll start to realize that you might be able to get some sort of distortion. And the more nasal and choked you get, the more distortion you will apply to the note.
>> [screaming] >> So, you want to do this until you get so much distortion that you can't hear the musical note UNDERNEATH IT.
>> [screaming] >> SO, AFTER THAT, HERE COMES THE fun part.
This is where we get things to sound brutal and get it to sound kind of guttural. So, once you have the basic scream distortion, you want to use your tongue and shape it to make the sound more brutal. Um and there's many different types of brutal sounds that you can get.
Um but I think uh for starters, you can stick your tongue to the side of the mouth like this.
Or you can bridge your tongue forward like this.
And if you can balance that while maintaining that distortion, then you can get it to have several different different um brutal guttural type sounds. So, for example, >> [groaning] [groaning] [groaning] >> So, remember, everybody's voice is different. So, if this approach didn't work for you, don't beat yourself up.
That's super normal. Check out the link in the description to go deeper into screaming and to get different approaches for different types of screams, and I'll see you inside. And if you also want to um if you're interested in coaching um with me, then it will show you how to get in contact to see whether or not that makes sense for your situation. So, anyway, check out that link in the description if you're interested, and I will see you in the next video. Peace.
