[Music] patients presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding have a high risk of mortality the purpose of this course is to help clinicians develop their clinical skills as well as a technical skills the course involves lectures as well as hands-on experience with pig models as well as synthetic models my name is multiple i'm a consultant gastroenterologist here and i'm also a the course director um it gives me great pleasure on behalf of bsg sheffield gastroenterology team as well as the faculty from the psg cook to welcome you the plan is to improve your theoretical knowledge improve your hands-on skills and also create verbal commands because it's important that you you've uh communicate with your team and so we'll also be telling you exactly what you tell your team so basically what more was talking about is why why why we do things and why we do it that way but what i'm trying to talk about what to do and then later in the afternoon you know how to do it a b c what is a here what's b what's c so they give two letters to oxygen and one for the blood so it's just it's a b c so the c is number three but if you can be very precise and just not touch the uh you have to be you have to be exactly on the spot you want to be familiar with the kit that is used in your hospital so these are the syringes that you need to have prepared before you go down you've got the portal that you need to flash the the channel of the scope the portal to prime your needle and i have to say it can be very stressful having a variety of leaders yeah i'm honored to be working as the advanced industry fellow with dr vogue pete this year i tend to view the endoscopy report as a document that could be picked up by a junior on the ward at midnight or another endoscopist who isn't you who might need to deal with this out of ours and you think the hospital systems are under pressure patients may not be in high intensity areas even if you want them to be and there are swiss cheese effects such that people come to to come across these reports and rely really heavily for what to do next in the notes from the very beginning you'll often have discussed these cases with the interventional radiologists or the surgeons but it's not always transferred into the document and this has to be the document that guides everything and just consider that this document is a really important document that will travel with the patient beyond your intervention thanks [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] is it's really important [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] you
