I unknowingly said something offensive...Added:
I said something offensive in one of my most recent YouTube videos. And before I go on, this is not some big apology.
It's not like I've had a bunch of people hate me and tell me that I need to apologize. That's not what's happened. I simply said something and one of the commenters let me know that it is an offensive term, which I actually did not know. And now I just want to make a video to say that I know that that's an offensive term now. So, basically, I made that video where I was talking about GDP and why GDP is a horrible way to measure how well a nation's people are doing. And I used the nation of Ireland as an example because Ireland's GDP has been massively inflated by corporations that are in the country that are essentially just there for the well tax benefits. So, basically, an American economist decided to call this phenomenon a leprechaun economy. At the time of making the video, I didn't really think that that term was offensive, nor did many people really bring it up. Maybe because you're all just too nice to me. But there was one brave Irish comeer who decided to speak up and say, "Hey, that's an offensive term." So, I went and looked it up and that's when I learned that it is actually an offensive term. So, again, nobody has asked me to apologize.
Nobody's attacked me, nothing like that.
This is not one of those dramatic YouTube apology videos. It's just that I just want to apologize because one, I had no idea that was offensive. And two, I just want to make it clear that I am now aware that it is offensive and I will keep an eye out for things like that. I'm a bit annoyed with myself on this one because I actually did a ton of research. Well, when I say research, I mean Google searching things for that video. Yet, I missed something so painfully obvious. So, a massive shout out to the Irish people. A massive shout out to Ireland, a beautiful and wonderful country. I will make sure not to use that term going forward.
