Gov Eno Inspects Convention Ecosystem Project

[00:00:00]The requirement state governor, Pastor Umo Eno says work on the international convention ecosystem project is progressing steadily with contractors keeping to agreed timelines. The governor made this known during an inspection of key projects in Uyo including the international convention center, international hotel and the arise shopping city. He said the facilities are strategically linked to position Akwa Ibom as a major hub for conferences, tourism and commerce.

[00:00:55]And um connecting this like we said from the airport, you can all manner of conventions, conferences, 5,000 seater, breakout rooms, banquet hall, amphitheater, all in there to the hotel, then to the shopping city is by itself.

[00:01:25]Governor Eno stated that the convention center will include banquet halls, breakout rooms, and an amphitheater with capacity for more than 5,000 participants.

[00:01:38]Speaking on the arise shopping city project, he said contractors is quite well on going piling stage as the most critical aspect of the construction assuring the work would progress faster afterward.

[00:01:53]Now, everybody who works with Akwa Ibom state government today knows that we don't do variation.

[00:02:02]So, we pay you enough for you to order the long lead items.

[00:02:16]Thanks to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, when some of these contracts were issued, dollars was 2,000 something.

[00:02:28]So, fairly stable. So, what's There's no reason for contract variation.

[00:02:36]The governor also disclosed that the state government had taken measures to reduce inflation-related contracts variations by making early payments to contractors for the procurement of long lead construction materials. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to completing the project despite the rising exchange rates since the contracts were awarded.
