The video highlights how modern production has distilled emotional resonance into a predictable three-chord formula. It is a lucid look at the efficient, yet increasingly homogenized, architecture of contemporary hit-making.

Why Producers Are Obsessed With This Chord Progression
Added:Okay. So, one of the most common chord progressions used most of today's modern emotional music is that 456 chord progression or 654 or 564 or 465, but it sounds something like this.
That's four 6 [music] 5. We're in the key of F sharp major playing first a B then E flat [music] and then after that a C sharp.
These chords simplified. I'm going to simplify it right now. It just goes like this.
Very easy. And then [music] or you could just play right here and then [music] leave your hand here and then walk it down.
Very simple chord progression. You hear it a lot. And the cool thing is you can use it in different variations. Like instead of just going like that to this [music] to this, you could go from here Or you can go from here.
[music] Or you could even go like this.
You know, use it in different variations, but it's definitely very common. It's three simple chords anyone can use. So you can go ahead and try to make a melody with this today. And these are honestly some of the chords I use on almost all my melodies. But then obviously after using counter melodies and different other effects, it's going to sound a little bit different. So let's go ahead and try to implement these chords. You can see how you can create a nice melody and beat around them. Okay, so I'm going to go ahead and stay in the same piano sound I was using. And this is inside splice instrument pack or instrument plugin.
And I'm going to go ahead and add a little bit of reverb here and use the same piano as using this intimate very nice sounding piano sound. So, let's go ahead and record something in using those chords we just learned. And let's leave the BPM at 150. Let's get it.
[music] I might change that up a little bit, maybe. Very different variations. But let's go ahead and mess with this sustain really quick here. It seems like it doesn't drop as good.
And we're just going to go ahead and EQ some of this low end here.
Let's extend this note here.
And just go ahead and just add a little bit of reverb to this sound here.
Tightness. [music] the hammers will reduce a little bit.
Okay, so I changed the variation of the piano a little bit. I'm playing it more like this [music] now. Same chords, but just and I did a second variation [music] here in the second time right here.
Thought it would just give it a little bit more soul. And now I'm just going to go ahead and add this [music] just something to strum it like just to place this guitar. Honestly, from the butter is just so good. I got to add it.
Just have to add it. Let's go ahead and record this in. [music] [music] Very beautiful guitar, man. Just so subtle. And I love that you can just add effects afterwards to this. So, let's go ahead turn the reverb on.
What does this pump do?
Let's turn the wobble [music] on.
Very beautiful. Just complimenting [music] it. Stereo pan this to the left and right.
Let's go ahead and add [music] an EQ here.
Okay, so the third thing that I'm going to add is this Marshmallow Romance Classic synth pad. And it sounds like this.
[music] Even though our melody's already super full, I feel like, you know, sometimes you just want to add some stuff and then remove them maybe at the end when you're arranging. record this in. And I might change the sound later, but for the sake of the video, let's try to just push through. Let's go.
[music] [music] Not bad at all. See if we could just [music] EQ this.
Just go ahead and repeat this. [music] And I might just put this in certain areas. I'm not going to keep this the whole time because the piano's already doing a lot. [music] Maybe I just leave it. I might change it up. I don't know. I went ahead and added these vocal samples here. Check it out.
[music] >> Man, just selling this. [music] And I'm just going to go ahead and add like some space reverb here and then some echo delay as well just to see. I might just add some stereo delay. But let's see how.
[music] >> And I'm definitely going to EQ this.
This is too bright at the Well, actually, I might just lower the volume, too. Just lower the volume a little bit here.
>> But then also just EQ. [music] >> [music] >> Just EQ this a bit as well.
>> And I'm going just add some echo delay on here as well. Just a little bit.
[music] >> And definitely that one needs to be lowered down as well. A little piece at the end. [music] I could even maybe bring this a little bit closer here.
>> See if we could be put it right on tempo. [music] >> Feels like it's a little off tempo, but it still sounds okay. But let's see if we can fix it right here. I know where I'm going. [music] I know where I come from [music] >> somewhere.
There we go. Somewhere right just like like kind of effects in a way like adding texture. That's what it sounds like here. And just add way more reverb. And then let me just copy and paste this over. And we got it right here. We got our loop. All right. Now, let's go ahead and add some drums. Let's go into the armbbe madness kit and see what we can bring up. I think I'm think feel filling like a rim shot or snap here. I can go really fast. Maybe the lab. [music] But I don't want that. I want something more smooth. A little bit more smooth for sure.
[music] >> [music] >> Let's see what else we got here. Maybe this one. I'm going to hit this one every other bar. Let's see here. And just hit it right here. [music] I don't know if like a snap would go good right there. Or a snare actually.
[music] Let me just add a kick already. Let's see. I'm ready to add this kick. Is that this room kick? For the kick, I don't know exactly yet how I want this.
[music] >> Not sure.
[music] I'm not feeling these drums at [music] all.
I hear this. I don't like that swinging motion.
[music] All right, let's go ahead and add some high hats. Now, just going to go with some very I was going to say basic and generic high hats here. Just I also could do the just got to find the right hat to fit this.
[music] [music] [music] Let's go ahead here and find an open hat. This one sounds nice right here.
[music] [music] [music] Let's just go ahead and copy and paste this.
Let's add this ding high hat right before this. [music] Now, last thing I'm going to add is a nice bass. And I do want like something that's just like that has a lot of depth. Like this one right here. Let's go ahead and add this in. [music] This bass is definitely rumbling, that's for sure. Let's quantize this really quick.
Okay, let's go ahead and rearrange this beat, mix it up a little bit, and let's hear the final result in 3 2 1. Let's go.
Bless those keys and see.
>> [music] >> I know where I come on. [music] Oh, come on.
>> [music] >> Bless those gn.
[music] I know it. [music] I know it. I [music] come on.
[music] Heat.
[music] Heat. [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> Bless those kids.
[music] [music] >> [music] >> All right. And if you're at the deep end of this video and you can see now what chord progression you can use almost not every time but most of the time to start a melody or just if you're not feeling creative maybe just go back to that 456 chord progression and I think you'll be good. But let me know what you think of this beat. Let me know what you thought of the video. If you liked it, go ahead and comment down below deep end if you're still here. So if you want to keep watching more of these videos, go ahead and click on this next video right here. Till next time, stay blessed. God bless. Peace.
