Getting wire harness ready

[00:00:00]Hi, I've been cleaning up and cleaning up a wiring harness.

[00:00:07]Anyway, I got up to the point of needing a horn. So, this is my fifth one that I checked. The other four don't work at all.

[00:00:26]So, that's the best sounding one I got.

[00:00:32]And it of course it's got dent in it.

[00:00:35]But anyway, that's the best sounding one I have.

[00:00:39]Kind of quiet.

[00:00:45]Anyway, yeah, I've been I took this all apart and I had to replace the shaft.

[00:00:59]This is what came out of it.

[00:01:02]Pretty rusty.

[00:01:05]Up here is not bad, but it's still up there is pretty good, but down there is gone and the bearings are all seized and stuff.

[00:01:14]So, anyway, I had I had still have a couple shafts and two more sets of bearings. So, I put this all together and sort of polished up these a little bit and polished up the forks, but this seal leaks.

[00:01:32]I've got to have to put a seal cuz I drove No, no, no.

[00:01:37]This bike. This seal leaks. I drove this around the yard yesterday and that leaks bad.

[00:01:45]I'll have to replace that.

[00:01:48]But these appear to be snug. Like the seals are perfect. So, I put new rubbers on it and polished it up a little bit. I got greasy fingerprints all over it.

[00:02:03]Yeah.

[00:02:05]So, anyway, uh And I polished the back hub there when I put this back wheel on.

[00:02:15]And take a look at this.

[00:02:18]Um This is a 410 No, uh 1 110 100 18.

[00:02:31]Oh, I got the weight on it. But, anyway, the tire just misses the chain um the chain guard.

[00:02:42]And I didn't have to adjust the spokes.

[00:02:45]So, anyway, that is encouraging.

[00:02:50]So, anyway, I've been most of the day uh cleaning up and retaping and straightening out and getting things all the little broken pieces replaced and with good pieces. Anyway, I have um good ones of these.

[00:03:10]And I got this all retaped and the headlight bucket repainted.

[00:03:21]And that's uh I'll wait. The paint's still quite tender, so I'll wait till tomorrow before I take the tape off.

[00:03:31]So, anyway, I'm Now, back here, there's a little bit of a mark here, but that was all worn down to metal where the cable rubs. And that cable The clutch cable always rubs there, so that'll be back uh worn out in no time.

[00:03:45]So, back there, plus you can't really see it. Up here is where where it matters. And no bugs landed in it. So, but I did paint inside and underneath it.

[00:03:58]But, anyway, I can put this in the garage here in a few minutes.

[00:04:05]Irritating.

[00:04:08]Kind of irritating about those horns though. I got like five of them, and they don't work. I probably have uh six or seven, and uh I'm pretty sure they don't None of them work.

[00:04:19]And I found I got one of these that has no brakes in it. I I figured I'll use up my good stuff first, and then as I build bikes towards the end, I'll have to fix things. But, uh all my Most of these have cracks in them. Anyway, this one has no cracks. It's painted or uh straight.

[00:04:43]And had to paint this the It was all chipped up.

[00:04:53]Anyway, it brains holding off. It Yeah, the day started kind of slow. I I wasn't exactly sure. Like I have five or six of these wire harnesses sort of all complete in various conditions.

[00:05:13]And anyway, I My day started getting better when I picked one, and then it told me what I had to do, and I just uh spent the rest of the day doing all the detail, but um everything's This uh whole thing here was just literally caked with old grease from people overfilling overfilling the oil uh tank, and having it dripped all down underneath the gas tank, and get all of wiring harness, so I had uh all took me like an hour to scrape all that off and the tape was bad.

[00:05:54]And there's a few spots where the wires were worn down where they're shorting.

[00:05:59]Um no, they weren't shorting on each other.

[00:06:02]They're shorting to the frame. So, I taped everything up good.

[00:06:06]>> [snorts] >> But anyway, now I can put that in the garage and uh basically uh call it a day here.

[00:06:16]Um it's supposed to rain. I mowed a few days ago before it rained and I don't think it rained and now it needs mowing again, but I'm not mowing not mowing tonight.
