Government moving ahead with beneficial ownership legislation

[00:00:00]We are um trying to ensure that Barbados has an effective ecosystem for beneficial ownership. So, it's not just the CTSPs who provide the information, but the information must be available and must be ready for use by uh police or regulatory authorities who may have to conduct investigations and so on. Um and this is a requirement of the Financial Action Task Force. So, we need to ensure that Barbados continues to be seen as a reputable jurisdiction for global business, and this is why we're doing this.

[00:00:40]So, in being compliant, we are a credible um place for investment to welcome investment. So, that's what we are trying to to do, to ensure that Barbados continues to be seen as the place where uh investors can uh set up businesses, um build businesses of substance within our jurisdiction. So, that's what this is all about. I think we must move to the point where we see compliance as um part of our competitiveness.
