[00:00:00]He started walking alone. A bullet stopped him. The movement arrived uninvited and took his march. On this date, June 6th, 1966, [music] James Meredith was shot on day two of his solo 220-mile march against fear through Mississippi.

[00:00:20]By nightfall, every major civil rights organization had arrived to continue it in his name.

[00:00:26]Within days, black power was born.

[00:00:30]15,000 marched [music] into Jackson.
