Hi, it's John. Welcome to the Independence calendar for Sunday, May the 31st. I hope you're having a great Sunday. This is episode number 25. I appreciate you being here, and this is going to be a little shorter Independence calendar this week. I'm reworking things. I'm going to do things differently over the next couple of weeks, and uh you've got my big cat Blue here. Hi, Blue. How you doing, buddy?
Going to come give me a nose? Come on.

Good boy. He's in an affectionate mood right now. I I do have my big blue mug.
It's sitting over there, but I've got my big blue cat here today with me. And he just wants to be part of the channel, and he's having some fun with the microphone right now. We need to do things differently, folks, over the next little while. Uh I think a big part of what we're going to be doing is raising money. We've got third-party advertisers coming in. We're going to talk to two of them here today. You may have seen the video I put up earlier this morning.

I speak with Cory Morgan, and if you want to have an effect on the independence movement and get things kick-started a little bit, you might want to um help out Cory a little bit.

Also, an interview I did earlier this week with Keith Wilson, who's doing so much work behind the scenes right now getting all our ducks in a row, talking about a third-party advertiser that will be headed up by Tanya Clemens called Alberta's Alberta's Next Step. So, that's on the way as well. Other things are happening. This event is happening today. Let me put it up on the screen for you. Uh awful weather here in uh southern Alberta up towards Edmonton.
We're getting a lot of rain. It's just a dismal day, but this event is happening.
I've got to move my cat out of the way.

But, this is happening today starting at noon, and if you want to be part of this, you can meet in Calgary at the iFly Deerfoot City. This is Deerfoot Trail and 64th Avenue Northeast and here in Edmonton as well, 266 Street and 114th Avenue. A big roll into Red Deer today. You do not have to meet in Edmonton and Calgary, but what you can do is from anywhere in the province meet at the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in Red Deer on Highway number two at 1:30 p.m. if you want to be part of this event. Unfortunately, I cannot be there today. Now, here's what's going on, folks. As has been said and Cory Morgan did a view did a a video on this the other day.
Forever Canadian, they're mobilized.
They're moving and I know you want to get moving as well. If you go over to their website right now, you can see they've got this up and they're looking for money. They know that money makes the world go around and it's going to be a big part of the independence movement here as we move into the vote in October and they're telling lies on here about Alberta becoming the 51st state. Right now, basically their strategy is a strategy of fear. If you're following Jason Kenney on X or you watched the debate he had with Keith Wilson last week and they've got a campaign of fear.
They're elbows upping people. This is kind of the same thing that Kenney did last year. They create a demon. Last year it was Trump. Now it's the independence movement. So, we've got to make sure that we're moving forward and we're going to do that with Cory and his plan. Here's his website.

So, why don't we just transition into a couple of interviews I've done this week. We'll start off with Cory. Uh if you watched my video this morning, you have seen this. If not, I've shortened it up into a few minutes, so you know what's going on, what he's plans on and are, and how you can help out. And then we'll go right into my interview with Keith Wilson, who talks about Alberta's next step, headed up by Tanya Clemens.
So, we want to help you out here, and you've got a pretty easy plan, which I think is great. Um what's your plan?
What do you want to do moving forward?
>> Sure, my interest again was to keep it simple. I thought, you know what, I'm not going to start a whole giant organization like the APP was or anything with all those facets and volunteers. There though I'm getting I found out I realized I've got to coordinate a lot of volunteers cuz they're all putting their hands up and it's great.
>> Yeah.
>> I want two things. Lawn signs cuz we just haven't seen them and we're seeing Lukaszuk has already come out of the gate running. He's got those things blossoming out there and then we've kind of dropped the the ball on it. So, we can do it fast. Simple lawn signs, Alberta lawn signs, let's get them out.
Have people showing in their own households, get your neighbors on it, friends, family.
Just show that display that there's activity with this and that people are supporting the concept. And the other part is going to take a little longer, but uh there's been a guy I've been working with who makes some great digital uh productions, AI type of commercials. He's I put the first draft up there. It still needs some tuning and everything. It was just kind of his first attempt to throw on something out, but it's a good >> Yeah, yeah.
>> Wow, there's enough potential just if he calls that a first draft and we haven't even started, you know, tidying it up.
We can make some really cool stuff. And we got to get it on to in front of eyes that don't normally see. Yes, you and I have our channels, we got great audiences and feedback, but we need to get it to pop up in ads in front of people watching other channels in Alberta. People who are watching, whether it's entertainment or uh you know, just other uh podcasters, you name it. You can pay for that, you can have those ads pop up in those videos, but it takes some money. So, I got to raise some money to be able to do that. And and the TPA is just the perfect way to do it.
>> Well, tell people how they can do that in just a moment. I'd really love to see your ads popping up in front of forever Canadian ads on YouTube cuz they're probably going to Wouldn't that be great? Now, you've got it behind you.
I've got it behind me. It's right there, the big blue flag. What are the two words beneath the crest there on your signs that will be in the front lawn of people's houses?
>> Just choose Alberta.
>> Love it. Love it.
>> Simple as that. I just want to keep it simple.
Uh just like I I I I got to admit, forever Canadian just has it pretty basic in there. You know, it just gets that that that positive messaging going out to other people. It's it's uh otherwise, I think I got to put some information on it just showing who sponsored it. You know, in my case, it'll be that pathway to independence and a means of contacting me. But just other things for people if they got paid advertising. And let's just get those out of the way. As I said, the signs behind you the flags behind you that mine behind me, too, and in front of my house. And uh Uh that's a great way to I think everybody should have a flag outside anyways, but getting a lawn sign out there is even quicker and faster and and you can get to all sorts of people's places.
>> Okay, so people want to help you. You've told me prior to us doing this quick interview here that they're already getting in touch. They want to help with the signs. Um so, how can people contact you if they're interested in doing that?
>> Yeah, well, they can go to coreymorgan.com. I I had that old website up forever. I knocked the dust off it and just put a a quick page up that at least gives the information on how to email me to ask questions and uh I think I'm going to get a proper script put in there for volunteer sign up or things like that or just email sign up.
And of course, yes, I'm not used to it.
I I hate it, but I understand the reality of it. The donate buttons. If you want to throw some money in, that's We need the money to be able to do it.
So, the the means are all there on the website.

There's a link right below it. Uh give some money. If you don't have a lot of cash or you don't have cash, don't feel pressured. But if you can help out, you can donate up to $5,000 through this whole period of the referendum campaign.
If you got deep pockets, you could do that, but $10 at a time is fine. Uh and help out Corey. Let's get those signs out there. And we should have a big day, Corey. When you get a load of signs in, maybe you got a thousand to go out.
Let's have a volunteer day and we'll go out and put them out for you. How's that sound?
>> That sounds excellent. We'll absolutely do that. And as I said, my video's only been up a few hours and the feedback's been incredible. So I think that volunteer day is going to be coming really soon.
>> Uh the other night uh you had a a sit-down after the debate. Uh a lot of people out there and uh people ask questions. Great discussion there. Have a chip yak was with you as well. Um the Alberta Transition Council. Uh just quickly on how that's going. And then something new that's coming up as well that you mentioned the other night. But how's the transition going right now?
>> So the Alberta Transition Council is a is a group that I I formed uh some months ago uh that is working on a detailed transition plan to explain what would happen after a successful vote, how we will move from a provincehood into statehood to being a full country.
Um and to answer people's questions about passports and monetary policy and um uh border security. Basically, how the Alberta government as a country will take over the few functions that the federal government provides. So we're making good progress on that. I'm co-lead along with Dennis Kelma, who's the other co-lead. As as many will know, Dennis is an amazing Albertan. Uh He's the author of the value of freedom document that had done the fully costed plan. That's right. So, but we're bringing in subject matter experts from everything from telecommunications to aviation to military to and the military is for the purpose only of how what would the new military forces civil defense forces look like in a new Alberta?
Um so, yeah. So, that's progressing well.
>> I heard you mention it the other night after the debate, Alberta's next step.
What is that about?
>> So, I'm forming a new group >> Mhm.
>> to act as and it's in the formative stages right now to act as a formal third-party advertiser that will be registered with Elections Alberta in full compliance with all the election laws we have here and the financial disclosure laws.
They're pretty onerous and complicated.
Um these other groups in favor of staying in Canada will be registering and being third-party advertisers as well.
>> Yeah.
>> And the idea is to match them. We'll we'll develop an equally sophisticated campaign with campaign messages in support of independence, with advertising in support of independence. Because as you know John, we're fighting for the same hearts and minds. They're fighting for the people who are undecided or the reluctant federalists, those who are would vote to stay in Canada right now, but they're really concerned about what Ottawa is doing and what Ottawa is imposing on Albertans and the future.
So, they're trying to convince them that the that you know, don't shift your vote to leave. Stay with stay. They're trying to scare them. They're trying to do all these things. And you're going to see increasingly sophisticated strategies cuz again, this is what these guys do as a day job, right? This is their profession. So, we're going to deploy the same strategies and be very strategic in our messaging and going into the forums that they're going into.
We're going to have to go into legacy media. So, this new group that I'm forming will be called is is being called Alberta's Next Step. It's intentionally neutral because what the what the focus groups and polling is showing, the data showing, if you're too provocative with this undecided group, it turns them off. If you get in their face, it turns them off. So, you got to approach them much more gently. You got to get them thinking about things more abstractly.
Just telling them they're stupid for not supporting independence is a sure-fire way to fail, to be blunt about it. And um uh I'm very pleased to announce that uh uh Tanya Clemens, who many in the independence movement will know, is going to be joining with me to lead this new group. And we're going to be bringing others on uh uh of some name that people will recognize as well to move us forward in a sophisticated proper campaign style focused on independence and independence alone and getting Albertans to understand the benefits of independence and supporting it in the two referendums that will be coming up.
>> Thanks a lot to Cory and Keith for those interviews earlier this week. I will keep you up to date on what they're doing in upcoming weeks. Jason Levene is also a third-party advertiser. We'll let you know what his plans are as well. As for Cory, he's being very open with where your money goes. A lot of people have contacted me and said, "Listen, I'm I'm donating, but I don't know what what it's doing. How is it being used? Corey expects to be giving you regular updates on what he is doing. And he also describes how easy it is to become a third-party advertiser. So, if you're interested in that, again, I'll put a card up at the end, so you can check that out. I'm considering that myself.
And also try to get Tanya Clements on in upcoming weeks to talk about Alberta's next step. That's about it this week. Uh new plans for next week. A little bit shorter this week.
