Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appeal for Indians to work from home, avoid foreign travel, and reduce gold purchases is a strategic response to geopolitical tensions in West Asia that are causing fuel shortages, rising prices, and foreign exchange reserves depletion; with 85-90% of India's fuel being imported, the government is implementing conservation measures to prepare for potential economic challenges, including possible fuel rationing and inflation, while encouraging virtual work arrangements to reduce commuting and conserve resources.

Why PM Modi Suddenly Wants You To Work From HomeHinzugefügt:
Hey folks, good morning, good afternoon, good evening wherever you are. My name is Sarupul. Welcome to Pol. Today I'm going to talk about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's latest statements in a speech he gave in Hyderabad which talk about saving foreign exchange, not going abroad too much, you know, for foreign travel. Um, not buying gold unnecessarily and of course, you know, conserving fuel. But the most important part for our audiences and people of our age basically is the fact that he promoted work from home, right? Like you must have seen so many reels on it since yesterday. Prime Minister Modi literally said work from home is good. Please do it. Do virtual conferencing, do video calls, you know, do all sorts of virtual meetings, you know, as much as possible.
He's encouraging work from home. Okay?
And that is just a speech that came out of nowhere. But if you really think about it, it didn't come out of nowhere.
It has a lot of basis to it. This was long time coming and this is all happening because of by the way the elections the lo the state elections that happened many four five state elections happened in recent times and now that they are done we know who's going to be the chief minister in most places we know who's won where now the thing is okay now we need to get back on the national stage and the international stage due to the geopolitical situation in and around the world especially in West Asia we are going through a lot okay it's not come out in the open but India is actually suffering quite a bit and so are other countries. Okay. Now before I get into it and why and how which many of you know let me you know give you a highlight of basically what prime minister said. He said that we have to save foreign exchange by any means. Can you imagine a prime minister just coming out and saying something like that without any notification without much you know fanfare. He just out of nowhere he comes and says this.
This is the government messaging us that hey listen we really need to get serious everything is fine but we need to start doing things we need to be preemptive you know in case things get worse you know we need to be prepared okay foreign exchange is not something a prime minister talks about every day okay when was the last time any foreign minister spoke about prime minister spoke about foreign exchange probably in the late early '90s probably think about it right uh he said the need of the R is to use petrol gas diesel with great restraint.
Basically what does it mean? We know that 85 to 90% of uh India's fuel is imported. Imports are at a problem because of logistical issues caused by geopolitics. And now we are basically like bro we could face these issues where we may not have that much fuel. Okay. And even if we do there could be rationing.
Nobody knows because that's already happening in other countries. I'll get into that.
And he's saying that we haven't done anything until now. We have neither raised the prices nor we have done any rationing. By the way, places like Australia have in some parts there is rationing going on. Prices have increased in the US. Prices in Pakistan for fuel and petrol and diesel have increased by 40% and 50%. Okay? Like literally 40 50% increase in Pakistan and they are neighbors uh with you know the Middle East. Okay. Uh so you need to understand that it's happening across the world. It's happening in Australia, New Zealand. It's happening, you know, in in the US too where prices are rising. And it's not only fuel prices that are rising. There are other things also because right, what else did he say? He said we got we need to get into work from home, virtual meetings, video conferencing, okay, and many other methods that were used uh you know five six years ago. We got used to them. The need of the R is to resume those methods. So all the companies saying work from office, work from office 5 days a week, 6 days a week in office and now it's like the prime minister of the country is coming out and saying hey you know what you folks need to do this I think it's important now obviously we're not a dictatorship we are a democracy so you know the government has its own ways of mandating these things and the government and corporate India kind of get along very well frankly so I can foresee because of this that work from home may come back at least partial work from home there will be days of the week where it will be mandated especially in metros where most amount of fuel is consumed places like Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi you know Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata where they will be like hey listen at least one to two days work from home there is no need not everyone needs to come every day okay we need to get get into this like can you imagine the prime minister has 7,000 things to talk about and he's coming out there and saying work from home like everyone is super happy because most people want to work from home remote work everyone's been you know asking for it and now suddenly the prime minister saying it then everyone is like I saw on Instagram someone wrote you know founder CEO so that's that's something which many people want most people want if you think about it and now the prime minister is like hey listen I think we need to do this we really really need to do this so think about it uh how concerning the situation might be that the prime minister is simply out there and saying hey bro it's quite possible that work from home may be mandated in some parts but He's encouraging it as of now. See that is if you understand anything about common sense, you would know about messaging uh and governance.
You would know that this is priming.
They're getting us ready.
It can become you know compulsory for some time at least or there will be some hybrid work you know work arrangements that need to be made right because see the government is taking measures. they have to right right the government is basically you know it's it's basically preparing everyone so they are doing the right thing I personally feel this is this is this is a good thing that is happening right but yeah there was some surprising one he's like avoid buying non-essential gold for one year okay so basically what he's saying is key yeah world we are a gold loving nation it's in our culture it's in our history no matter what happens your parents will come and be like gold though right like whether it makes sense or not gold now the thing is the prime minister is out there and saying you know please don't buy gold unnecessarily that's very specific you know why because then gold import foreign exchange correct and we need to keep our foreign exchange you'll be like why do we need to keep our foreign exchange to buy fuel it gets even more expensive right so forex and the rupee is weakening right so which means is 94 and stuff. So we are losing we're losing more and more of our currency basically foreign currency okay our currency is becoming weaker because of these things right and these are these are all facts right numbers otherwise you'll be like you know bro these are these are actual numbers right like you know these numbers right and then of course there's something called as like you know balance of payments you know current account deficit which is like how much foreign reserves do you have right you need to have certain amount of foreign reserves right so you need to understand that the government is thinking on a macro level because geopolitics is affecting economy and uh these things uh basically uh also lead to another thing where he's saying that avoid foreign holidays and overseas weddings. He's literally saying foreign trip all all these things he said in Hindi obviously but what I'm trying to say is it's very odd when a prime minister is coming and like Modi Prime Minister Modi is not some small guy right like some European country prime minister he has 1.4 4 billion people you know who are to be governed by him.
Okay. When he is coming out there and saying by foreign travel can you imagine the situation that you know must be brewing. So we must be very very uh you know uh understanding of what is happening okay and what may happen. So I I know one thing for a fact that you know uh save as much money as possible.
I'll just say this in general savings.
Don't do unnecessarily unnecessary expenses. Things will get more expensive which is common sense. Inflation is going to rise because by the way even flight tickets are going to get more expensive because jet fuel is notorious for being expensive.
There are like multiple uh I think Lufanza I think canceled multiple flights thousands of flights across Europe. I know I'll have to check but they were and many many airlines across the world are struggling struggling all all the Indian major airlines they actually they all wrote to the government saying we are in deep trouble jet fuel costs are rising you need to allow us to increase prices our oil uh you know our oil companies were selling oil uh without raising prices okay they are they they're telling the government listen you need to understand we need to raise prices now and until now the government has been like prices ma because in general the government is like but for how long okay they're losing thousands of crores according to an economic times report I think 30,000 crores per month or something like that we'll have to check but the I I'll put the link in the description I was reading about all this right but these are crazy numbers you need to understand that you know uh the government by the way the uh prime minister said that during a global crisis keeping the country above or else we have to take resolutions. This sounds very much like 2020. Uh I honestly, you know, want to say one thing. If nothing else, as much as possible, save as much money as you can. Don't do unnecessary expenses. Um because that's what I'm going to do. And I don't know what's going to happen obviously. Duh. But you know, common sense maneuvers. One of them is you know like get your finances in order, get your you know like speak I mean I can foresee one thing obviously that work from home may come back you know work from home may come back at least in small parts so even if not work from home definitely hybrid work will come back in some places for some companies right like obviously for not all industries and not all companies but some of them there will be uh I foresee hybrid work coming along right like people like you can take it as you want. Let me know what you think. You guys have common sense, right? Like the prime minister is out there just coming out there and just saying, "Guys, you know, we have to toughen up." Okay? Uh because this is extremely uh important. These are critical times, right? And uh the reality is that India has not escaped the oil crisis. India has delayed it, which is exactly what's uh happening, right? like I I genuinely and of course he said like use public transport as much as possible and stuff like that which is obviously common sense right that's definitely going to happen I just hope we are able to manage things properly right I do not want you know us to uh not be able to uh do this without suffering a lot but I genuinely feel we can do uh you know well if we come together as a nation for this um you know even in the US the gasoline and diesel prices have really really uh shot up I will be making a video on Indian FMCG companies. They are increasing prices very soon. So yeah, watch this space. This was PK on the most probable return of work from home or hybrid um working because of you know uh the geopolitical situation in West Asia.
Prime Minister Modi saying something like this very very important. Keep this in mind. Let me know what you think in the comment section. Like, comment, subscribe. See?
