In the modern Pokemon trading card market, even highly sought-after illustration rares and special illustration rares from recent sets like Chaos Rising and Perfect Order can experience significant price drops of 50-90% within a single month, making them potentially attractive buying opportunities for investors despite the unusual volatility in what was previously considered a stable bull market.

Prices DROPPING FAST From Chaos Rising & Perfect Order!
Added:Folks, as you know, on this channel, I have been glazing graded cards and also sealed product for the past 6 to 7 years. But, as of recently, I've really been diving deep into the raw card market. And I've noticed that in the past month, we have seen many illustration rares and special illustration rares from both Chaos Rising and Perfect Order come down significantly to the point where I'm like, I should be buying a lot of these.
Most of these cards are down 50, 60%, some even like 90%. It's a little bit crazy to see decreases on cards that are super modern and in today's bull market.
So, I think it's going to make for a very interesting video. Very quick shout out to today's perfect video sponsor. It is doublehollow.com.

All right, first up, let's go over some illustration rares from Chaos Rising that are down tremendously in the past month. Here we have my favorite IR from Chaos Rising, the Xerneas illustration rare, that right now is down almost 55% for a near mint copy It a market price of about $13.75 and I think this is just the prettiest card the prettiest IR at least from chaos rising. I don't know what it is. It's just very eye-catching to me and right now it's about $13.75 for a raw copy.
Up next we have the Chespin IR that is down in the past month about 45% not bad for a starter Pokémon.
So it's sitting at about $7.39 for a raw copy and I think this is a beautiful card here. I think you can't go wrong with starter Pokémon from these newest sets.
Here we have the Ampharos IR.
Now I actually bought this card back when it was like 17 $18 for a near mint copy but it's come down even further since then. It's down about 55% in the past month with a raw market price of $13.89 and I think this and the Xerneas are my two favorite IRs from the set. I do love me some Gen 2 Pokémon like Ampharos here. So yeah, I picked up a bunch of these cards. A little bit more expensive than $13.89 but hey they were very minty copies.
Up next we have a middle child here is the Frogadier IR from chaos rising currently down the past month about 55 to 56% with a market price of $13.24 and I think this is a very awesome looking card. Uh I think it has a ton of detail to it. I really like it. I like it a lot better than the next card which would be the Froakie IR uh that is down about 60% uh has a market price of $14.92 and nothing against Froakie. I just feel like the Frogadier just has a lot more detail in it. I don't know, but you can't beat the starters, right? This Froakie is a starter Pokémon and people love them. Some starters, I can't blame them.
But yeah, this card is definitely down quite a bit in the past month. Speaking of down quite a bit, here we have a Crobat IR from Chaos Rising. This guy was sitting at closer to $14, $15 for a raw copy when it first came out. Now it's all the way down to about $4.78, which is a minus 66.71% and I love Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokémon and this Crobat is a Gen 2 Pokémon. Now it's not quite as good as the special illustration rare one from Destined Rivals, but still, less than five bucks for this card?
Yeah, I'll take it. And then lastly for our illustration rares, we have the most severe example. It's the Tauros. This is a Gen 1 Pokémon that in the past month is down about 65% and overall folks, this card is down over 90%.
Ugh.
What's with all the hate for Tauros, man? So this is a Gen 1 Pokémon IR card that's down to about $5.80 per card. And when you talk about the cost of admission, and if you're if you're new to this channel, when I say cost of admission, I mean the price of a booster pack essentially. What's the cost to open up a booster pack of the set? Right now a Chaos Rising booster pack is sitting about $7 per pack. Um so you mean to tell me you can get these illustration rares like Tauros and Crobat for less than the cost of a booster pack?
What do you think? On to a couple of special illustration rares that are also down, not quite as much as the illustration rares, but still very noteworthy. Here is a Mega Starmie EX from Perfect Order.
Now, this card freaks me out, man. I don't know, something about it just gives me the heebie-jeebies. I think it's the legs. This card is down about 23.4% in the past 3 months.
Now, Perfect Order's been out for a couple months longer than Chaos Rising, so I set the market back about 3 months compared to one. So, yeah, you're looking at about $61.71 per card right now.
And I think this card's got some room to go down even further.
Just my opinion. I think a lot of these cards, especially from Perfect Order and Chaos Rising, are still a little bit too new and could afford to go down a bit more in their special illustration rare forms. Here we have a Mega Clefable EX, also from Perfect Order.
This card is currently down 42.6%, so a lot more than this Mega Starmie for some reason, but still more expensive at about $71.39 for a near mint copy. And I like this card a lot more than the Starmie. I think it's a lot more colorful.
I Yeah, I just don't like that Starmie.
And much like the Starmie, I think this card could afford to go a bit lower for its market value, so I am not picking up this card right now or the Starmie.
Up next, we have a special illustration rare full art trainer in Rosa's Encouragement.
And I am not a little transparency here. I do not buy, invest, collect in full art trainers. I know a lot of you love full art trainers, and at one time in this hobby, full art trainers were king. And maybe they'll get back up to that point someday, but if I was going to buy a special illustration rare trainer, it would be this Rosa's Encouragement. This is a super awesome, colorful, eye-catching card.
I love everything about it. Right now, it's down about 60% in the past 3 months with a market price of about $67.54.
So, yeah, folks, what do you think of this Rosa's encouragement? About $67 for a near-mint copy? Not too shabby, right?
I think this is one of the better-looking uh full art SIRs.
Uh up next, we have a Meowth. This is definitely the poster child for the set.
You thought it would have been the Zygarde, but it's actually the Meowth.
This one's very interesting. Listen to this. So, this card is currently up in the past 3 months 12.42%.
Sitting at a market price of about $178.
So, this card is up 12%. Meanwhile, the PSA 10 copy has plummeted since early May. It was like a $1,400 card just about as a PSA 10. Now, it's like below $600. So, the raw copy of this Meowth is going up pretty steadily while the PSA 10 copy is like falling off a cliff. Up next, we have the Mega Zygarde EX SIR. I like this card. I'm not a big fan of Zygarde really, but I like the way they designed it. I like the Zygarde forms there in the background. They did a very good job. Right now, this card is down about 57% with a market price of about $69. So, so a Zygarde is definitely not your leading Pokémon in any set, but I think this is an awesome card. Uh I think it's a little bit underrated, especially compared to the Meowth. Up next, we have the Cinccino EX SIR. Then, in the past month, it's down about 25% with a market price of about $85. This card, in my humble opinion, has some room to come down a bit. I think $84 or $85 is a little bit too steep for my blood. So, I'm going to hold off on this card. Here we have the Mega Greninja EX SIR that's currently down about 41.88%.
Oh, with a market price of about $340.
Now, I kind of like the Greninja EX SIR from Twilight Masquerade better than this one here. Uh now, the that Greninja has a market price of about $400, whereas this one, you're looking at about $340. So, I don't know. Which one do you like better? The Chaos Rising Greninja or the Twilight Masquerade Greninja? I like the Twilight Masquerade one a little bit better. Up next, we have another full art trainer. It's this Roxie's Performance SIR. Uh this card's down about 40% in the past month with a market price of about $34.
And uh I'm not a big fan of this card. I would much prefer getting a Rosa's Encouragement over this one here. But, what do you think about it? And then, we have this Mega Dragalge EX from Chaos Rising. Uh it's currently down about 50 to 51% with a market price of about $56.
And this is a very awesome illustration. Not the most popular Pokémon, but just look at the design of this card. Uh it's down about half the amount it was about a month ago. So, I don't know. What do you think? And lastly, we have this SIR AZ's Tranquility from Chaos Rising. This card is down quite a bit in the past month, about 67.8% with a market price of about $40. Do you think this is a good price? Let me know.
That's all I got for you. Are you going to pick up any of these illustration rares or SIRs? Are these good enough prices for you? Let me know in the comments. Thank you so much for tuning in. I'll catch you in my next one.
