[00:00:10]>> N me and you. I'm turning this [ __ ] This is Russell from Velocity Parts and Performance, and today I'm going to show you two of our baddest builds of what we do here on the regular.

[00:01:17]So, starting off with this truck on my left. This is a twin 6466 on the daylight kit. This is 1101 compression motor. Still Gen 4 stock ECU. Now, compared to this blue one, this one is still considered a Gen 4 motor body style, but it actually has a Gen 3 motor. So, this is a 52 Predator Gen 3 top end, Gen 3 timing, and still daylight headers, daylight. This one actually has our bigger race uh 6-in intercooler compared to the 4 and 12 in intercooler on this one. Uh, and this one has a 7275 turbos compared to the 6466 as this one is meant to push a little more power and then because of the transmission and the setup, um, able to go a little quicker. So, this one actually is one of the first trucks that I tuned uh myself from scratch. So, uh, it's on FuelTech. is all standalone. As you could tell, there's no fuse boxes or extra wires that are not needed besides for what it is for racing. Stock frame, you know, pretty much factory suspension uh stuff. Uh this one is still completely stock ECU as you could tell with all the extra wiring and stuff, but it's all functional. This is our pretty much everyday build that we do here. Uh and this is more of our custom build uh for more pretty much raceoriented setups. This one's a midnight transmission, 10-speed. Uh, that's all we run on these trucks. So, like I said, this one makes about 1500 to the wheels.

[00:02:37]It's been working fine. Been perfect. No problems. This one is a T400. Uh, mostly because it's meant mostly for drag racing for the track and for no prep.

[00:02:48]Uh, we actually just change the gear ratio on the transmission. So, that's something you could do on a T400 compared to a 10-speed. That one is just, you know, a built trans converter.

[00:02:55]This one we play with stator sizes, converter sizes, uh, even gear ratio. So you could fine-tune it a little bit better for dig racing, no prep racing, track racing versus this one. Uh it's just pretty much you can play with your converter and gear. So this one actually is on 15-in conversion in the back. So it's a narrowed steel factory diff 8.8 with a 15x12 wheel on who's your D05 no prep tires. The front we converted to a 18 to 20 spindle modified to fit a 15 so we can run a no prep tire all around.

[00:03:26]This combination on this one, it's a actually this one's a velocity forge wheel. So, this is our own wheels and it's running a 3054517 ET Street SS tire, which will we recommend for your, you know, you're driving every day and have all the traction you need pretty much for this type of setup. So, this one, as you can tell, has the uh it has our carbon fiber front bumper pretty much just for rate reduction reasons and the looks. We did save a lot of weight cleaning up fuse boxes and wiring. So, the the way is wired. Every wire on the truck is just meant for a purpose. doesn't have extra stuff that we don't use anymore or not need to. So, this truck does weigh approximately 800 lb lighter than the tan one. Uh, and this really just from narrowing diff uh getting rid of some stuff on the inside.

[00:04:08]As you can tell, it's not cut up. It has all the panels in it. Uh, but believe it or not, just doing the little things, brakes, fuel cells, and little things that don't have to necessarily cut up the truck. I mean, you lose 1,000 lbs or more, you know. Uh, but that one, nothing has been done for weight reduction on that truck. So on this one actually being on FuelTech T400, it still has a full dash in it, two seats, carpet. Um, so it's still, shoot, we still even have the airbag tag on here.

[00:04:34]So this truck, yeah, it was low miles pretty much when we built it. So yeah, we got two seats, roll cage, uh, full dash. Nothing's functional on the dash as far as, you know, your AC. You don't have a rate anymore, but we have the fuel techch mounted integrated into the dash and then the fuel tech screen integrated into where we can make it like a factory cluster. and even then losing, you know, almost 1,000 pounds compared to a bone stock factory truck.

[00:04:57]So then compared to the interior on this one, they look alike. Uh they both have the roll cage. They both have the two race seats, carbon seats, and really I mean just kind of by they look the same uh for the exception of the door panel.

[00:05:09]So that one's a factory door uh door. It just got the door panels removed. We put a carbon panel just to kind of take some weight off, but it's still a factory door. So other than that, carpet, cage, two seats, seat belts, pretty much everything the same. And then but this one does have everything still in the dash. So your radio is still full functional. It has AC, it has heater, everything as if it came from factory.

[00:05:31]That's pretty much the only differences.

[00:05:32]Yeah. So this one's still on a stock fuel tank. Uh just a triple pump hat. Uh the only thing we added uh was a meth kit. As you can tell, it has a small little meth tank in the back. Uh the road cage bars. And that's pretty much the only additions to uh as far as anything goes with fueling or extra u you know cooling mods compared to this one though. This one has a 8 gallon fuel cell. We could have gone a little smaller to like a 5gallon but we still wanted to go out and be able to do road racing. And I mean believe it or not on 8 gall cruising you should still be able to get maybe 100 mile range. Uh we did put our puke tank since we do have a little more blowby in this type of engine setup. uh so I can breathe a little bit better. And then our nitrous brackets because we do use nitrous on this truck. So we we kind of throw everything we can at them. And then our meth tank is still back in there. So they both have meth fuel cell stock tank nitrous, no nitrous. So on the 10-speed truck on full full tilt, uh this one makes about 15 to high 1500 to the wheels. And really the limit is the turbos. 6466 is what we pretty much recommend on your I mean that's more than enough for your everyday driver.

[00:06:40]Anything bigger, you start fighting a little bit lag. Anything smaller hits harder, doesn't make it much horsepower.

[00:06:45]So, our sweet spot, if we ask, you know, what we we we recommend is a 6466 setup on the 10-speed. We have made on these Gen 4 actually, we have the one that made 1,800 on bigger turbos. Um, but then you start fighting other issues being, you know, still stock ECU with the transmission it came with. Now, this one, this one makes over 2,000 to the wheels, probably, I'd say about 2,200 with nitrous. Uh, but since we do have the T400, we, you know, put put the bigger turbos, we're able to put more boost and actually, you know, go down the track every time. So, pretty much the biggest difference is the because of the transmissions, we're able to throw more boost and because on the T400 we have dump valves, we're able to play on with spooling and stuff like that. So, we're able to put bigger turbos and not feel the difference on the boost leg.

[00:07:30]So, that's the reason why they have the different turbo sizes.

[00:07:46]All right. So, we're going to take a drive here in a little bit on the tan truck. And about the blue truck is this was actually still fairly a new build.

[00:07:53]Uh we finished it just before Clelet.

[00:07:55]So, we finished it, took it to the track, tuned it 60 to 130s. I think it was mid2s. Uh 100 to 150. I don't think we got to 150 at the track or the street, but it's pretty pretty quick.

[00:08:04]Uh, I think I'd probably be somewhere in the twos, mid high twos, mid twos, I think. Uh, but like I said, we're still in the process of tuning it, turning it up. We still haven't hit it with all the power yet. Uh, we just got to dial in some suspension, uh, gear ratio deals, and then from there turn it up and see, uh, see what it actually does. So, it is capable of going sevens. It's capable of going fours. Uh, we just haven't been testing out since Asterus. This one, we'll put it away here, and we're going to make a hit on the T1.

[00:08:27]>> Yeah, this truck has uh, six settings.

[00:08:32]>> Okay. Setting one. It's a little bit over wastegate, but pretty much every setting is an extra I can say 100 150 horsepower.

[00:08:43]>> Oh my god.

[00:08:56]I wasn't ready. I I don't know if we can rewind the tape. I said I was ready. I lied. Oh my Oh my god. That's I don't even know what to say. I don't even know what to say.

[00:09:10]There's no way you cannot get addicted to that.

[00:09:14]>> Oh, it is smooth. It's And that was a I can't believe that was 1,00 horsepower.

[00:09:19]>> I I clicked it after we took off.

[00:09:21]>> Oh my god. You Oh, you put a little more to it. Huh. That makes sense cuz it didn't feel like 1,000 horsepower. I was like, "Oh, okay. We're filling it." And it just kept on coming on. My glasses are [ __ ] up. Look, they still look I'm sweating.

[00:09:36]>> Oh, that is a wild ride. I can't believe that I I can't stand being a passenger, but a lot of it has to do with what you said earlier, how stable it is.

[00:09:46]>> Yeah, because a lot of times like I've gotten in shorter wheelbased cars. Let an example. You get into a Honda that makes 700, you know, 800 horsepower around there and it feels ugly. It doesn't feel right. It's very sketchy because it's such a short wheel basease.

[00:10:01]It doesn't have the stability that this truck feels >> right here. You went and it barely maybe kind of it could have been you on this.

[00:10:08]I didn't feel anything.

[00:10:09]>> It didn't break no traction. It just it got and went. But yeah, the longer wheelbase, the stability of this thing.

[00:10:14]And then how heavy is it?

[00:10:16]>> Uh this one with us in it, it's uh I think the weight says without passengers is like 46.

[00:10:23]>> Yeah. So the weight has to have a ton with it to be able to It just plants, dude.

[00:10:29]Oh [ __ ] [ __ ] I shouldn't be cussing as much. I'm sorry. But damn, that's awesome. I'm not going to lie, my camera almost came out of my head and I I had a grip on it, man.

[00:10:47]>> I let on way too soon on that. I let off like a 2000.

[00:10:50]>> Oh my god. It It almost came completely out of my hand.

[00:10:55]>> Oh [ __ ] I let off on 2,000 RPM. I didn't even let it >> the two steps like at 36. Then it's like then it's violent like it takes off pretty crazy right there. It just goes and smooth. Power comes in.

[00:11:17]>> Yeah. It didn't even make boost. I don't think >> Oh my god. It did not feel like >> No, there's no way. That is crazy, dude.

[00:11:44]>> Yes, sir.

[00:11:45]>> Dude, that was killer. I I I want to film more. That's crazy.

[00:11:48]>> You sure?

[00:11:58]I didn't grow up in a house where my dad was racing or my cousins were racing and pretty much nobody in my family does this. As far as I can remember, I always had Hot Wheels. I had that carpet with a big racetrack and follow the cars around. As I got older, I went to the nitro cars, RC nitro cars, brushless cars, and then I started upgrading those into I had a driver license. Then my first truck, still truck, still Ford F-150 was a 2001 Ford Lightning. And that's pretty much where all this started as I wanted to make my RC cars faster when I had my truck. That's the exact same thing I fell into for my age.

[00:12:30]And at the time, for what I did, that truck was pretty quick. I think I was running low 12s and I was 16 years old.

[00:12:35]But yeah, then I went from that to a Mustang. And I never really worked in the automotive industry. I didn't come from a shop. I didn't go to school for this. I always just liked it. Um, and I always worked on stuff. And even in high school, I worked on cars, trucks, side jobs. I had started with LS2, CAM kids, stuff like that. I started working in the power plants. Uh I was welding and uh pretty much after high school, I was still going to school, started welding, and still on the side, I was going I was doing side jobs at home. So I was out of town, come back, do fabrication for turbo kits for Chevys at the time. So I got to the point where I started having more work at home than my actual job.

[00:13:14]From there I worked at NASA for a year.

[00:13:16]I do have associates in mechanical engineering. I never finished my bachelor's because of this. Um I fell into here. So I never finished that. And I worked on NSA for a year, went back welding and after welding pretty much I had an a little altercation maybe with a boss that was there. Pretty much he wanted to fire me so I just quit. And as I was driving home, I passed by this location. I called the number and here we are six years later. At first, I only opened the storefront. I didn't want to get too involved with the trucks and get, you know, uh, behind on builds and stuff like that or deal with that kind of issue. I got this one bay right here, so it was only one bay. I had one guy in the store and I was working here by myself. And I pretty much the truck that kicked it all off was my Magma Red 2018 F-150, which a lot of people, if they've been following us from the beginning, they remember that truck.

[00:14:11]Let's go. Let's go.

[00:14:19]>> And now is known as a Dark Side. The new owner wrapped it and changed the name on it and everything. At the time that it was built, which was in I bought that truck in 2020, um I was here by myself, so pretty much I didn't know anything. I didn't there was no videos, no nothing about how to do anything. Uh, I pretty much just kind of played it by ear, you know, took the truck apart. Uh, it was a stock motor build. Um, you know, I bought an at the time on three kit, got lockers, did research what parts were available for that truck. From there, actually, that's where I met Manol for Midnight. I hit him up for a transmission at the time. He was doing the the the transmissions and he was still, you know, to this day, you know, that's what he does. Uh, so I hit him up about a transmission, got the Midnight Trans since 2020. We started going out racing and that's when we started, you know, hanging out with Mano and, you know, racing and pushing times. And unlike today, we used to race every other weekend. And with that truck, I mean, we're able to go on the stock motor, we went eights. That's back when before we had carbon panels, TBM brakes, lightweight stuff, fuel cells. We didn't even have carbon. See, it was just a full trim truck that went 890s on a stock motor back to back. Uh, I think it went a 560 in the eighth and it's still with a the on three hot side, not what we have up to date today. And that was pretty much our turning point because at the time and I think to today still uh we had the or one of the fastest trucks around. The next truck that we built and today we're proud of is King Ranch. Uh that truck started with a what was supposed to be a stock motor build. Uh we dropped in a FFR motor in that one.

[00:15:51]Same build as my purple truck besides the FFR motor. So that one went 550s and we did have another truck we built. Same setup and the fastest we went pretty much at the time before we stopped messing too much with the 10 speed we went 50 at 144. Uh and I believe as of today only uh Monopoly Midnight and us have the only 50 second trucks or anything really close to that.

[00:16:19]>> Wow.

[00:16:20]We were never able to get a 490 pass, but that was always our goal. Uh, until we jump into the T400 trucks like this one, then we're able to go into the fours.

[00:17:02]But yeah, that purple truck and definitely King Ranch is kind of our whole that's where the purple truck kind of where I started where I learned I thought I was going to blow the motor at 16 lbs at the time but pulled out the stock motor pushing 24 and it's still running fine. And then King Ranch, that's where we learned the fuel techch stuff, the M1 stuff, the no prep, the data, the traction. And that's pretty much what has put us, you know, purple truck to building trucks like these. And then the King Ranch building trucks like this. Um, that's where we got, you know, pretty much to this point. A big misconception. A lot of people that not aren't too deep into racing, they think because we have a four-wheel drive, we're faster at the track. At the track, we're not faster. We have more rotating mass and the motor's putting four tires, not two tires. So at the track, we don't have pretty much the upper hand on anything. If anything, we're slower because we have a transfer case. We have a front diff, front axles, heavier, and rotating mass. So it does slow us down.

[00:17:53]We actually have compared back to back four drive to two wheel drive about 210 slower at the track. Pretty much when we started with that, the track stuff and people call Collins out, whatever. We raced a couple people and then we started kind of leaning into the no prep cuz then we're going fast on the street.

[00:18:06]Yeah. So on the pretty much started with the 10-speed, we kind of stopped messing with those because we're, you know, at at certain power level we're having issues. We have the plug electric. It's a brown truck from Austin, a good customer of ours. Uh that truck was running 286 60 to 130 on his 10-speed Gen 4 stock ECU truck. Uh so that's the fastest that we've been the fastest that I think I could say anybody's been on a 10-speed F-150. I know Gator when it was 10-speed, it was went like a 280, 290, it went 5's in the in the eighth. Yeah.

[00:18:34]Yeah, as far as a 10-speed goes, I think we have kind of the more data, the more, you know, actually numbers to prove of, you know, the power and stuff. It takes more power to move a T400 from a 10-speed, you can hit the power sooner and you could throw more power at it.

[00:18:48]So, we went, I guess straight swap, it slowed them down. But, uh, on the street, I mean, from the plug compared to the plug 286, the other trucks we have or like Grimace stock ECU truck, that truck went a 250, 60 to 130 on on asphalt and 150 like a 220, 230. And then we have the faster trucks like uh green go they have the for midnight from the seals rod shop uh king ranch those go lows 60 to 130 and 150s are in the ones uh but that's a M1 truck that's you know you you do a burnout make a pass shut it off you know uh I guess setup so that's more of the heavier F-150 like the heavier the faster ones. I think too uh Gramis I think is the only one that I have an actual like draggy video footage of a 780/4 mile pass which I that's the first time we first and last time that I went quarter mile on an F-150. That's just sketchy.

[00:20:04]Uh, but it went 175 176 I think and this was like 3 years ago and now that truck is like 2 310 fashion day. So it it'll probably go low seven. So yeah, I mean we've been pretty far on this this platform on the 10-speed and every day we're learning stuff on converters, converter issues and different testing different stuff and gears and and that's the reason why we keep pushing these trucks and then we ended up here. this type of setups. I could say the difference between us and I would include, you know, Midnight uh as far as building this F-150s. I don't think anybody does the stuff we do like, you know, we go grudge race with these back in the 10-speed stuff. Uh we turn it up, try to blow them up, they don't blow up, they just go faster. We find out and I don't think anybody has done that as much as we have. And I we can prove it with times or with simply just, you know, racing or whatever. But like I said, as far as I know, we have the one of the few or only only 4 second eighth mile trucks on the street as well. I could say by far we have the most data, the most knowledge as far as what works, what doesn't, what you need to go as fast as you want to go. And I believe we have that pretty pretty settled on the uh F-150 world, I guess, platform. Uh from us winning, I mean, we won the Clintis all-wheel drive stuff twice. Uh, I think that's pretty much what sets us apart, you know, is us trying new things, finding out, and going faster every time. Just like anything, you always want more. You hit a number and that's what you want and like, man, let me see if I go faster. Let me see if I can go faster. Let me see if I go faster. Like back in the day to build this truck or to go as fast as like this one went, it would take us a couple weeks or months or even like at the time, weren't even as fast. Now, like the first time out, this truck went as fast as they're supposed to go. You know, whenever this one got done, at least. So, nobody ever knew who we are or what Velocity is. Um, pretty much what I want them to know is that every truck we treated as our own. And as you could tell maybe from the the footage on these trucks, the details we do on them, uh, everything is built as if it was like my own personal truck. You know, everything's nice, clean. If it takes longer to re run something, we'll do it because it's nice and I I wanted to do it the best, you know, as we can. You know, we have customers that, you know, they go out racing on the street. At any time, you know, I I'll answer the phone.

[00:22:11]It could be 10:00. I just had a customer this weekend. And I was on the phone with him at 2 in the morning with that my laptop uh logging in through any desk to me look at his AMS tuneup and mess with it and he was going rounds and racing. Um and we do I do that with every customer. So you know every customer I treat them you know even after their truck leaves from here I treat him as a friend longtime friend at any time they could you know ask whatever they want. Up to today we have a I'd say a good good amount a of a I guess a product line. So, for example, like the carbon splitter on this truck is our velocity carbon splitter we just released. Uh carbon mirror caps, the cap wing, tug wing. Uh we're working on the bumpers, grill, you know, fenders, doors. Uh the bumper on this truck is ours. It's part of our line. Um Velocity Forge wheels. Then jumping into the daylight performance. The daylight stuff started with u you know, man uh for Midnight. And these kits, I mean, the trucks are very popular. We just could never have kits to build trucks. We're always struggling to find kids cuz they're out of stock. They got to build to these build to order take 3 4 months and we need them now because we need to build trucks. We need to sell them.

[00:23:17]Daylight started from pretty much a joke from Cletus called making fun of Midnight Performance to Daylight Performance and that's how it just happened. And now it's Daylight Performance LLC. We have uh F-150 kits.

[00:23:28]We have S550 kits. We have S650 kits.

[00:23:32]And this year we should release another maybe two model cars uh truck of turbo kit. So the daylight stuff is still growing. What we really want to focus on in the turbo kit stuff. We're looking at Harley's now for kits and maybe side by side. So here in the near future hopefully couple years from now we have a line of pretty much if you have a vehicle that could be modded. Hopefully at by the time we have a kit for it, you know. And as far as velocity goes, I mean the carbon stuff is still make more panels, parts, uh products until I run out of ideas, then um jump into a different platform, which I already have two cars for that. Uh I'm just haven't started them because I'm not quite done with with these yet.

[00:24:26]All right, we just arrived at uh Midnight's uh new shop. We got Mano back there in the tractor doing his uh rancher duties. Uh but yeah, we walk in here. I'll show you around. This section of this uh place is um specifically for the daylight inventory, which is pretty much kind of maxed out already. So, we have a lot of the uh coolant tanks. We have fuel cells, F-150, Mustang fuel cells. Um, these are some of the hot tags actually we have left for the F-150s on the ground that we piecing together. We have about uh I think 120 Mustang kits in stock and we actually have a kit on the on the stand. So, you could kind of see and this was pretty much the same as a giveaway from TRC.

[00:25:08]Um, you know, we pretty much pushed these uh 6466. Here we have our record setting 2024 S650 Mustang. Uh, and it's in a way pretty simple setup. It's a FFR bottom end, stock head, stock cams, uh, GT manifold, uh, and obviously our daylight twin turbo kit, uh, midnight trans custom fuel system. First time out we went, it went 780.

[00:25:42]Uh, it does have a new converter. Um, I know there's some u adjustments on the trans. We want to go back and see how much deeper in the sevens we could go.

[00:25:48]But this is a midmount kit, so there's nothing up here besides our two charge pipes. But there is a Mustang on the lift and we can show you how it looks from underneath. So this is the bottom view of our kit. It does come with the exhaust with little teardrop dumps. uh wastegate with their dumps and the charge pipes go around through the suspension up to the front to our pretty I think this is a 5 and 1/2 in intercooler. We like the bottom mount.

[00:26:17]It works keeps heat out of the engine bay, keeps space and like that car 28 lb when 780 at 175 I believe. But yeah, the exact same kit 6466. That's why we're a big believer on them turbos on the 10-speed setups. Comes with the lines as you can see here. And it does run a scavenge pump for the oil return. And this all comes in the kit. So scavenge pump, your lines, return line up to the top. Uh feed lines over here. Um so everything needed, this is exactly what you get. So we have this S550 here, which actually was before the S650 when we had that. So we use this car for testing purposes, fitment, um and everything. So yeah, we put it together, made some hits on the street. We put on the dyno. We're yet to take it to the track and the plan is to take it sometime soon before, you know, we get rid of it or move into something else.

[00:27:04]So, yeah, this is kind of the first car with our daylight kit. As you can tell, this is a single charge pipe, obviously, cuz the S650 has a dual, and that's pretty much the big differences in appearance in the engine bay. So, this is actually not a daylight car, but this is Mano's uh F-150. I believe this is his first F-150 that he built uh that he went 850s back in the day. It's on a different setup. I don't know. I think that was back then was a built motor and had issues. But right now it's a stock motor. Daylight twin turbo kit 10-speed.

[00:27:32]Eventually we want to take it like we did 665 go 7s to to this day. Like I said, we haven't had a 7-second time slip on a 10-speed. This truck is I'm sure very capable. We just haven't just like that car. We haven't gone back. We haven't put a built motor in this one.

[00:27:47]Uh it does have our velocity side exit exhaust. So just to quiet things down, uh we decided to put one of those little oval exit, something different. Uh, but it's a nice little truck. It's a Lightning clone, as you could tell.

[00:27:59]That's how they should have came from factory, I think. So, >> we're going for a ride, me and Russell.
