These anecdotes illustrate how survivors use spiritual narratives to rationalize the randomness of street violence. It is a fascinating study of confirmation bias masquerading as divine intervention.

Tony Yayo Claims His Neighbor Had a Dream He Got Shot the Night Before Lloyd Banks Shot (Part 14)Added:
Well, you know, you speak about God and everything else like that. You just interviewed Millyz. Yeah. Right. And I did an interview with Millyz. Yeah, Millyz. Shout out to Millyz. Yeah, shout out to Millyz, man.
>> Yeah.
You know, dope rapper, dope person. Mhm.
And we got into this whole back and forth Mhm. because he told a story about how he was going to the club cuz he had beef with some dude, he had a gun on him. And when he went to go reach for the gun, the gun had fallen apart. Like in his pocket. And he was like, "That was God that did that. I know that God did that." And me and him got into a whole kind of back and forth about that. And I'm like, "Is that really the only explanation of it?"
How are we here, Vlad? This is all God.
Everything is energy and frequency.
Okay. So, everything comes everything comes from God. Where did evolution start from?
It started from single-cell organisms.
>> Where did a single-cell organism start from?
It started from bacteria.
>> from? The Big Bang.
>> that start from? The Big Bang.
>> Where did that start from? Okay.
>> What the [ __ ] is the Big Bang? That's the big God.
I mean, it's it's God.
>> Guns fall apart. They're cheap guns. You got guns put together, Frankenstein guns.
>> But you know what? That could have been a sign from from God and Jesus to him.
That's like for instance, when my mom's house got shot up. And this is a true story. I tell people all the time. Mhm.
I got a I had a 50 Cent plaque in it and had bullets in it.
And rest in peace, my dad, he he got up.
He when he woke up early, my dad lived with me, stayed with me. He was getting a little old. I was taking care of him.
And he was like, "Yo, somebody shot the house up?" And I said, "Why?" And it was a bullet.
But you could tell it was like a fake bullet and it fell off the plaque.
I think it was a day later, the next day, my mom's house got shot up.
I believe in signs. That's for instance, look, let me tell you. My next door neighbor, Ms. Peoples, I tell people this all the time. She had a dream, right?
She had a dream that I got shot.
Right? The next day, you know who got shot?
My brother-in-law, Banks. Swear to God, on on my dead father.
So, for me, even when you have a dream or something, I'm cautious. I'm listening.
So, I mean, when him saying, "Yo, I had the gun in my pocket." Yeah, in your eyes, man, it was a cheap gun. It wasn't put together right, right? But in his eyes, yo, God made that happen. I probably could have got shot pulling that [ __ ] out or pulled out and the [ __ ] didn't work.
Okay. Well, well, here's another explanation though for that.
When Lloyd Banks, your brother, got shot, that was in Queens? Yeah.
Was that the only shooting that happened in years and years and just a crazy freak event, or were shootings happening on a regular basis in that area?
No, it was Jamaica Avenue. It was a part of But the whole point is they never got shot.
>> okay, but I'm saying, you're in an area where there's shootings, and someone gets shot.
>> But but you're but you're missing the point. The point is my moms told me, "Be careful." the night before.
Miss Peoples, rest in peace. Right.
>> Shout out to Darlene.
>> in a dangerous area.
>> Listen, okay, but it was Jamaica Avenue.
It was not necessarily a dangerous area.
But we're saying shootings occurred there, right?
>> Listen, you're missing the point, bro.
You can believe in what you want to believe in, and I'mma believe what I'mma Okay, that's fair.
>> The dream, right?
People have dreams, and sometimes that [ __ ] comes to reality. My next door neighbor told my moms the day before, "Yo, I had a dream that you got shot."
And the very My moms told me, "Be careful going out tonight." Miss Peoples had a dream, you know my mom say she "Be careful." You know, accent.
>> [laughter] >> "Dream, you got shot."
And I don't get shot, but my brother got shot?
Come on.
Okay. Listen.
>> Like I told you, the bullet falling out the plate, and the next day my house got shot up. That's not a sign to you? Nope.
All right, well, I mean, me and you believe that that is mean, listen, [ __ ] happens, man. Ask anybody else, they're going to tell you that's a sign.
>> Okay.
We can agree to disagree.
I I mean, I I I believe those are those are signs.
Or or these are actual events that happened. Now, if you told me that your next door neighbor said that a meteor is going to hit your house the next day a meteor hits your house, I'd be like, "Oh, [ __ ] Okay, there's something to that." No, but I believe in dreams. If somebody said I had a bad a bad dream about you, that's something for me to think about. I mean, things happen.
>> Listen, man.
>> I'm going to look I'm going to look both ways when I cross the street. I'm going to think cuz trust me.
For real. Listen, man, I respect your opinion and I have my own opinion on it.
Who knows who's right?
Who knows who's right at the end of the day?
>> I mean, I feel like I'm right. I mean, if somebody says they had a dream that >> Right. somebody um that I got shot and the next day my brother got shot, that's kind of ironic.
That's kind of crazy. That's not regular [ __ ] Well, you also got to look at situations like this where a person could tell you every dream they have and all of them don't come true and then one out of 100 comes true and they say, "Oh, look, see? It was a sign." But what about the other 99 that never came true?
See what I'm saying?
I mean, I I don't You [laughter] see what I'm saying? If you can find me No, no, NO.
>> THAT'S THE WEIRDEST THING. NOT EVERYBODY comes up to you and says it's random.
Look, it's random that somebody comes up to you and say, "I have a dream to you."
That probably happened to me maybe twice in life. Okay. But what I'm saying is find me someone that consistently have dreams that become reality and we could have that conversation with them.
>> No, I'm not That's not constantly happening, but sometimes it can happen.
>> Exactly.
I'm in my 40s, listen.
>> I I could tell you Listen.
>> that somebody tells me, "Yo, I had a dream about you, yo." That's crazy. Only probably like two or three people I could probably say that that happened like with some tragic [ __ ] All right.
