[00:00:00]Hello dear ICT students. This uh short video, these two sets of videos is just to guide you better on how you are going to perfectly work on your practical session of tomorrow. For those of you who are going to pass tomorrow and those of you passing on Friday and Saturday, principally I want to let you know that this video is not a sort of uh tool that will help you pass. Definitely no. It is just for students who were serious throughout here. And here I am just providing you with some tips in order to finish the different tasks you are going to encounter within the time frame that will be given to you. First of all, as you can see in the different notes that I've sent when you are in front of your computer in the hall, the first thing is to check your keyboard and see whether it match with what you are having in front of you. So you can just come here, you click on screen keyboard. Once you select on screen keyboard, good. You can see that here you have the quality keyboard. And if it is the same thing with the physical keyboard you have in front of you, then everything is okay.

[00:01:21]If it is not the case, then you simply come down here. There is a little space here as you can see. You click on it.

[00:01:27]Most of you will see English and French and then you change so that it works. It goes with the physical keyboard you have in front of you. This is to avoid those of you having air that you click on cure it is A that you see you click on Z it is W and so on. That is how you can fix it. Yes. Because you need to enable your invigilator not to have such uh difficulty in assisting you. By difficulty I mean by if everybody in the hall has such issue and cannot fix it then it's going to be troublesome for your invigilator. Now another issue is that once you are given your candidate folder if you'll be provided with one the first thing is to high click on your candidate folder and you copy once you copy you paste you make sure you have a copy of your candidate folder. This is in such a way that some files might be deleted either accidentally by you or by some viruses which might be present in your machine.

[00:02:29]Now with the original candidate folder now remember that if the candidate folder disappears accidentally or through an error the invisator has the right to come and provide the candidate folder to you but the time it will take won't be given back to you. So this is just in case you have such issue. Now for the candidate folder you just rename it by either high clicking and select rename. For those of you who are not having Windows 11 as I'm having a long list will appear to you in this nature.

[00:02:58]You're going to have something like this.

[00:03:04]Yes, you come and take rename and you hide your name all in capital letters.

[00:03:07]Or you can just click on your candidate folder. You click once you just press F2 and you write your full name.

[00:03:16]Then you press enter. Take note that your name should be in capital letters.

[00:03:23]That is all. Now you have your folder.

[00:03:28]Good. For those of you who don't have a master of the keyboard that is identifying where the different special characters are, I will advise you to always have your on screen keyboard beside you in such a way that you are easily going to work with. So when you have your on screen keyboard, you reduce it to the maximum then just place it beside here.

[00:03:46]Once you work with different programs, if you are working for example, let me say with um Notepad, Dev C++ or Excel and you need characters such as semicolon, colon, this is what you can have and take note of this key dear students because this is from this key that you have other special characters like this one and so on. It varies depending on the keyboard.

[00:04:11]If we move now to a particular tax Microsoft uh PowerPoint for example, let me give you some tips that you might know already but in general I think it might help some of you. So this is the interface for Microsoft Poweroint. This is for those of you this is for those having tax to create the slide the slides the the PowerPoint the presentation file themselves. But if it comes already as part of the candidate folder then you won't have to arrive at this level. So in case you are the one supposed to create a file how do you proceed? You come and click on new. Once you are on new you take blank presentation on the blank presentation this is where you are going to be the title might be given to you the subtitle and so on. Now the main tips I'm going to give to you at this point is that once you want a new slide do not just come and click here. No, it is not always a good idea. You come and click on this particular arrow and now you have a different types of slides proposed to you because there are some question where they will ask you to have a two content slide. You come and select this one title and content this is it comparison you have and so on and so forth. So when you are provide when you are asked to create a new site do not always come and click here. No you select and you move concerning the design these are the different design that you have for example for my for the different the version I have these are the different design as you can see when they will give you a particular design in your exam the name will be given you just come and and hover your mouse come and place your mouse the name appears office theme for this first one. If you come here, you see the name is mesh.

[00:05:57]When you come here, the name is view. So the name will be given. You just need to come and verify one by one and see which of them goes and you have to be fast also. Immediately as the name appears and it's not the case, you move the you change directly. So that is how it is.

[00:06:14]Now another main issue is at the level of formatting.

[00:06:20]If you enter for example by by then you come here tips when you want to modify you simply select you come here you select the one that will be asked from you you choose the size if the size is not given For example, if they ask you to put font size 65, you see that from 60 I go to 66. There's no 65. You simply come here and you hide 65 yourself. You press enter and that is all bold italic.

And then not just de again the presentation file you'll be working on in case you have this task you are not working the way it looks beautiful to your eyes. No, you work the way the instructions are given to you. So even if you are having a text that is white on a background that is yellow that is not your issue.

[00:07:24]The GC board is there to test the competency your teacher taught you throughout the year. So the layout must not be in your favor but it must match with the instruction that was provided in the questions.

[00:07:38]Another issue is at the level of copying and pasting an image. Let us look at something here. For example, if I have an image that I'm supposed to paste, I come and minimize this. I come inside my folder. This is it here.

[00:07:55]If I come and I click on my image and I select copies, that is I copy the image. Then I come on PowerPoint. Once I click, I paste. That is my image that I have.

[00:08:11]And now you can reduce the way you want.

[00:08:15]Then you move the image to the particular position it will be required from you. That is what we have. Now once you want to save your file always make sure that you are saving constantly when you want to save. If you are saving the first time when you will click here this will appear. Always take the option browse. For example if your folder does not appear here for example if my folder appeared here I will simply click on it.

[00:08:42]But if it doesn't appear what will you do? You come and click on browse.

[00:08:47]Once you click on browse, you come at this level. You select desktop. As you can see here, if desktop is not there, you come on this small arrow here. You click desktop will be appearing. So there are three ways. The first way is that what your folder will appear among these options. The second is you come and you select here. You search for the option desktop. If you don't see desktop, you come and click on this small button here. Then you will see desktop as one the first or the second option. Once you select now desktop you will see your folder with the name. You double click on it. Once it is open your name must appear here. So you see desktop you see the name from there. Now let me say this is my presentation. So let me say task one. Another issue is that dear student, if you are working on a particular task and there is no instruction guiding you on the name by which you have to save, please do not save the file with your name. Save the file by the tax number. If it's tax A, you save it as tax A. If it's tax two, you save it as tax two. Do not save a file with your name.

[00:09:52]You press save. Once you save, you will see the name is appearing. The rest of the time when you'll be working you just come and you click on save and everything will be okay. That's how it is. So once you open your slide the first thing is to save because if you don't save once and there is a particular problem and all the machines goes down then you are going to start back from the beginning in majority of the cases. So once you open your Microsoft access you save directly and there and that is all. Now let us move to another one to web authoring.

[00:10:29]We move to another part which is web authoring. Web authoring we know that we need a text editor. In most of the cases you are working with notepad and we need a web browser in order to look at our output. So the first thing I'm going to open notepad.

[00:10:46]Once I open that part that my interface might always be different from what you are having depending on the operating system you have.

[00:10:55]So let me open back notepad.

[00:11:06]So this is my notepad. As you can see if the tax on web auto comes and you are provided with a code that you have to copy then you copy the code normally as it is supposed to be dock type HTML and so on and so forth. But if you are provided with the output already and you are the one supposed to write the code then it is advisable for you to write the main syntax of a particular web page first of all that is type HTML then I have my HTML I have my head let me be fast title let me put text in most of the precise you which title it is the head then I have the body.

[00:12:02]So if you are provided with the output then I have to close the HTML. So if you are provided with the output and you're supposed to hide the code yourself or the output then this is what you have to do first of all and once you hide like this you come and click on file. Once you are on file, you take save as or you can simply take save because it's the first time. So you come desktop is already provided. If it's not there, you search as I show you or you come on this you select. Now you on desktop you take by by sorry the name of your folder from there you write the name. If the name is not given no problem take the tax number. You see that there is a text document. So there's no problem. But you can see the site we want a web page. So I'm going to have HTML and I save. And please student do not always close this your code if you don't have the full output already. So now as I've already save once you will come and open your folder as you have here. You see that tax two is already there. If I decide to open it you see that I have tax three.

[00:13:13]Everything is blank but it is a web page that has been created already. Good.

[00:13:18]From there now you move block of code by block of code. I am going to use as reference a particular June to explain what I'm talking about. But I'm not going to write a code explaining bit by bit. No, I'm just going to copy the different blocks I'm pasting for you to see how you are supposed to work. So this is an example. As you can see then they say you'll be expected to create an HTML code to produce the web page below.

You can say we have a title, we have a paragraph, we have another title, we have a table, we have a paragraph and you have a list. So these are the different blocks that we have. And what I'm saying is when you are working with such the first thing you have to do is to be producing blocks by blocks and be sure that after each block is done you verify with the output to be sure everything is okay and that is what we are going to do. So the first thing is that they gave us a title as you can see. Then they say create two free lines before the first header.

[00:14:23]So if I come on my notepad, so I change the title here. If the title is not given, make sure you put a text number. Members of Central Africa, then two free lines. Name that everything that you have to see on the web page must be done in between the body tag. So now two free lines that's so BR and another BR.

[00:14:52]You just come and click on file. Then you take save. Don't take save as again because you have already saved. Or you can just click Ctrl S. For those of you when I say control S is not that you press the two at the same time maintain control then you press S. So now once it is done you simply come back on your web page. You click on this file reload.

[00:15:11]Once you reload nothing is done because we did not write anything. But you see that the title is not given. So it means that there is an error in the in the particular code. Sorry, this is the title. As you can see, members of center Africa, two lines has been created. Once we move now to the next part of the question, which is the particular heading and the paragraph and the other heading, I will just paste the line of code. If I come here and I paste, so this is for the first heading. This is the paragraph. As you can see, it is in italic. This is the other one. And you realize that all of them are centralized. So that is why I need a center target here.

[00:15:54]Come and close. No, you can just put one at the beginning then you put the you close it at the end where it's supposed to end. So when I save this I come back on my web. I just reload. You see that it appears the two lines done. We move to the next block. The next block is this beautiful table with the heading being countries and political capital.

[00:16:17]So I will just come here and I paste the code for the table. I'm sure that you must have done it in school with your teacher. You save you come on your page.

[00:16:26]You reload that is the table. And from the output that we have we see that these are the only elements that are supposed to be centralized. So I will just go back on my code. Then I close my center tag and I save.

[00:16:44]The last block of code is this particular paragraph and this list. So I simply come down and that is a block of code. You see that it is uh the paragraph is bold and it is underlined.

[00:16:57]And one thing you need to know is the order in which tags are being open. It should be the reverse in which they closed. That is the first to be open should be the last to be closed. Sort of a mirror because that's how it is. You the last becomes the first and so on and so forth. You save all. Do not forget to save because if you don't save it will be difficult for you to obtain the change. Ctrl S or you can come here file you take save. You come at this level when you reload this is what you are going to have and you see that your web page has been designed perfectly well.

[00:17:30]Then there is no issue with going to the questions again to verify if everything was done very well. Like for example, you see one style H1 at this level. They say center the first three lines of the text and the table. That's why we use the center tag. Shade the first row of the table to orange. That's what you have. The heading of the list at the bottom of the page is underline and bold. As you can see, use the ordered list type for two countries at the end for the two countries at the end of the web page. So this is supposed to be ordered. You can now go and you modify as you want. You simply come here. This is your ul. They said this two should be order that. So it means that here you're supposed to close this one all that. It is simply O.

[00:18:19]And then just change this to O. You save you come on your web page. Once you reload everything is done and that's what you see on all that order that you see that it must not go the way you want. It goes according to how questions are being asked to you and that is how you obtain all your full marks. That is all what you have. Now if you look inly again at the question you realize that they say save the HTML code you have typed as Cac.txt and save the web page created as cac html in your candidate folder. Good.

[00:18:58]Once you come here you realize that what you instead save it as tax 2. HTML.

[00:19:01]There is no problem with that. You simply come on file, you take save as.

[00:19:07]Once you take the option save as, you already in your folder as you can see because if you have saved once already there, then the next saving will automatically bring you there. Now change the name.

[00:19:18]Sorry, problem with my keyboard. Change the name to C A HTML.

[00:19:27]Once you save, you're going to have your web page. So you first of all close this. Once you enter back in your candidate folder, you are going to have your web page as you can see. Now you can open it.

[00:19:46]Once you open, you have everything. Now for example, if somebody might have closed this and when you open your kind folder, you don't have the code again.

[00:19:57]Do not panic. Everything is okay. You just come on your web page, you right click on it, then you take this particular option, view page source. You take this option view page source. Once you click on it, it's going to display all the code you have used. You simply come, you select all of it. As you can see, you copy, then you open back your notepad.

[00:20:19]Once you open your notepad, for some operating system, the code will come back as you can see here. But for some others, it'll be lost. In that case you simply come and you paste your code. As you can see if you cannot use Ctrl + V just right click you take the option paste which is which should be provided from there. Now you save. Now I'm going to take save as C C E A C X T because this now is the code and it's normally a web page. So that is what I have. Once I close this, I close this. Now instead your candidate folder, you have, let me put it so that you see very well your candidate folder.

[00:21:04]You have the web page and you have the code. And that is all. We move now to the last task for this particular video which is the programming part of it.

[00:21:14]Programming you simply come and you open your dev C++ for those of you who are working with C dev C++. And this is what you have to create a new file. You can just come and click on this blank document. You take source file or you come on file. You take new from new source file. It is the same thing. From there you can hide your code. And for those of you using C, you know that the syntax for a particular C code is you have your hashtag.

[00:21:44]You see that when I press hashtag on my physical keyboard, it does not display.

[00:21:47]So I will just come here and I change to the next one. And then I have if I click here this the hashtag.

[00:22:01]Please note that you should not be typing your on screen keyboard. Your on screen keyboard is just for special characters. So if I take this my hashtag this #incclude standard input output.h H int main then you can now write your code correct and well you write you run and so on.

[00:23:14]No, this is not correct. This a double quote is there from two single quote. They are completely different. So do not make this error. This is completely wrong. So these are some of the tips I could give you for a beginning um presentation web authoring and programming.
