I was hoping her would give me something uh something to note >> comments about the racial profile. You know I don't know if you should have went there. You know I don't once again I don't know. start going places and you know just just say great things about the school you're at. They gave you a chance when you know coach Kein has some issues now. I mean for people to take chances on him obviously he's a heck of a coach but you know just all positive your staff just say all positive and >> nothing insightful Dave I thought was going to like you know it was 25 seconds just saying just be all positive whatever they got me to click on it. Um USA Today's post spring record predictions based on u my mythology. Uh that's college ball red zone. Now, honestly, I like that he did this. I want to do something like this with Tyler. Um, like the tier list in terms of like undefeated records. Um, JMU, Notre Dame, Texas Tech and UNLV. I know Texas Tech and Notre Dame have two super super cakewalk schedules and we know that like obviously Sarkc commented on the Texas Tech schedule. Um, but the 11-1 crew thought was interesting because like Indiana, they have Ohio State and and Texas also has Ohio State.
So, I'm curious kind of this does this projection have them both winning that game? Um, and if Texas is able to go 11 and one, that means that their SEC schedule is pretty weak, which no surprise there. It happens. I mean, last year's um Texas A&M schedule was was super super easy. Um, the 10-2 squad, I think, is where it gets really, really fascinating, right? Like Ohio State 10-2 would be would be a win given that schedule and how difficult it is and you would assume that you have losses to Indiana and Texas. No, I would love that Texas win in a big way. Georgia, Michigan 10 and2 his playoffs. Penn State 10 and two his playoffs. Oregon 10 and two is playoffs. Um, so you kind of look at that and it's like all right like that that middle class. Then the real question is will this be the first year that a 9 and3 football team gets in? I think the answer is yes because I think there'll be more like very good 9 and3 teams because the SEC added that extra conference game this year because they bit debate and so there's going to be a lot of discussions about you know a 9 and3 SEC team or a 9 and3 Big 10 team and I think the best candidate for 9 and3 Big 10 would be um a a USC. So I just thought this was fascinating.
Obviously like not going to spend too much time on it. Tyler when he gets back from vacation we're going to start doing a lot more um like college football oriented shows that I'm excited about.
But I thought this was like fascinating to see this like plot laid out. Um Georgia Tech at six and or eight and four. That would break my heart. Um but yeah, just some food for thought. I'm not sure. Let's see. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12. Yeah, this would be tricky.
It'll definitely shake up this, but I thought it was I thought it was fascinating to kind of look at in uh in that fashion. Okay, dude. This is the civil war that I was referring to. So, right now, like ESPN desperately, desperately, desperately wants to stay at either 12 or 16 teams because they want exclusive rights to the postseason.
And obviously, like there's a level of corruption that I believe comes with that and conflict of interest and like being kind of like selferving and like self-fulfilling.
But media heads are pushing this because they think it's like what the SEC wants.
Now, the meetings this week are going to be fascinating because I covered this I believe last episode I did on f Saturday maybe that like hey look like while SI is going to is pushing for 16 or 12 the people he works for directly want more than a 16 team playoff. More than a 16 team playoff is a 2014 playoff. This is new from on three. Majority of SEC athletic directors pulled by on three prefer more teams than Greg Seni's 16 team college football playoff model.
Don't let that. And so Greg's going to have to like do you want to bite the hand that feeds you and kind of like betray ESPN or do you want to or do you want to like betray the people that you directly work for? And what I think is fascinating is that I know that some shows get some of their talking points and narrative points from coaches. I know it. Um, and now a lot of times the coaches and Seni are aligned in these things. And so when I heard all these SEC talking points when it came to like why we're the best conference, it literally all came from a pamphlet from the last SEC media days. I'm curious, when are we going to start seeing the divide in the media scene of the non ESPN media? Are we going to start to see some SEC media people on YouTube or on other networks that are like, I, you know, I'm a I'm a Georgia Bulldog or whatever, but I'm in support of a a 2014 playoff. Because are they or here, here's a real question. Are people going to think for themselves or are they going to take the talking points that either come from the coach or the AD or the commissioner? Because those can be three different talking points now and there's going to be a lot of infighting.
Big 10 people don't have to do it.
Victim people absolutely walked the SEC down. We dominated you in three straight postseasons. We won three national championships. We dominated you in bowl games, too. We dominated you in money and TV contracts. And optically, because your narratives weren't good enough, we backed you into a corner and we got you to schedule a ninth conference game. So, Sanki scheduled that ninth conference game. And these coaches that are going to have to play an extra conference game in the conference that Greg Seni told everybody was the toughest conference imaginable. And they believe that.
They're like, "Wait a second. We're the toughest conference. We got to play this extra conference game now. We're going to miss the playoffs. Wait, the playoffs needs to expand and not just the 16 teams."
And so they're looking at Seikei like, "Yo, you got to do something, man. Like, are you are like how long are you going to be on your knees for ESPN cuz we need help." So they've just completely been walked down and the Big 10's like almost like the friend. And so you're going to see media people maybe start to side with the Big 10 because their coaches like, "Hey, look, a Van a Vandy coach calls certain podcast.
Hey man, can like that 2014 player is a good thing." That podcast goes and talks about it. You know, Tennessee coach calls a certain podcast start podcast.
Oh yeah, 2014 team's like we like that Saint needs to do his job. He works for us. They could turn on each other and this this group of meetings is the first step.
SEC Commissioner Greg Seni threatens conference-led rules due to lack of progress. We still believe we need national standards. If those can't be achieved, we'll have to look at more conference-led regulation, but that's the reality we're facing. Okay.
Conference autonomy. Immaculate talked about it. At some point, I'm going to get Immaculate on the show. He's talked about it at great length um that this is a good thing. It's still a little bit confusing to me because of how some things are being phrased. Um but Sanki is essentially threatening like we will get conference autonomy.
It's if not it's not about if it's about when it's about when. Right.

I I'm kind of amazed over the weekend since I had a few rain delays among preparation.
Um, if you can overhype a spring meeting, I think that successfully happened based on some of the headlines.
Uh, we have a lot of issues, plenty of work to do, plenty of opinions. Uh, I do not anticipate any decisions on the college football playoff, just so you're clear. So, we can tamp that down. We have time.
Um, we'll have informed discussion.
We're going to invite Rich Clark and his staff to visit with our ads and our football coaches tomorrow. I know that they put in a great deal of work to help inform and educate our thinking about the the current format and selection process. And then we'll spend time looking at a range of possibilities uh around the playoff itself um both learning from the successes and then trying to look forward. I >> if this is a big if because I don't know if it'll happen, but optically if the work that we've all done in our little battle has gone as far as I think it has, the SEC will suffer drastically from a lot of their nine and three teams losing that third game. The teams that were 10 and two a year ago with that third or maybe fourth loss, optically it's going to look really, really bad.
And if the Big 10 ends up getting more teams in this year's playoffs, you will see enormous freakout, enormous freakout from SEC coaches that will fight and push for a change. Enormous freakout. We walked you down. Walked you down.
Um, Seni closes pressure this afternoon with one of the more introspective moments I can remember from his from him in recent memory. He was talking about the shift from an old model to now in college sports um and the pain points it creates for leadership and how and how you think about it all. We're dealing with historic change. I have to check myself on this all the time. So if you want a confession, something to tweet, here's this. Having to move on move on from a system that was seen as working pretty well into something much different has been has been a healthy exercise. But those of us new then and the now have to constantly check ourselves and not go back to the old way of thinking. The transition in leadership is challenging. Part of the reason you want to be a leader is to meet the challenges. But as a part of a leadership is challenging for us. That's an honest observation about what's happening in college sports.
It's going to be really challenging for him. And it's challenging when you put up the facade of like you're the big bad boogeyman and you're actually not the big bad boogeyman. No one fears you. Nobody does. And I am very here for it. And you know, >> I want to give out stars. I want to give out a star to to captain Curt Signetti because I think this moment was a lot more impactful looking back on it than people realize.

because like there is like that that connection with Wexner and Epstein that is kind of damning and as an Ohio State fan like I'm kind of ashamed of like period but this [ __ ] I saw this I was like what the hell it's like it's like mostly out west and now again like I don't know what the context for all these mentions were but in the Epstein files Arizona who whoever also did the time to like count this [ __ ] holy [ __ ] Okay, y'all are you she you got time. All right, this happened over the weekend. We're the side quest side. Like I >> haven't watched this yet, but I've been seeing the whole time I light up about this drama of the weekend did not come from Summerhouse or Hollywood. It came from the Gainesville Super Regional where Texas Tech played Florida to go to the College Softball World Series. Now, stick with me here because this gets good. So, obviously, this is Jason Williams, former NBA champion and also former Florida Gator. And this is his daughter, Mia Williams, who played the last two seasons at Florida before transferring to Texas Tech this year.
Well, naturally, Texas Tech and Florida meet in the Super Regional this weekend for a three-game series. And game one started off hot where Jason was briefly ejected from the stadium, but then he was allowed back in. However, the Florida fan who allegedly hit his daughter was not allowed back in.
Speaking of getting hit, Mia Williams was hit not once but twice by her former team in this game one alone. So tensions were running high all game until Mia hit the go-ahead two-run home run in the seventh to win game one for Texas Tech.
Williams and it's 28 AND THAT ONE CLEARS THE BULLPEN roof and Mia Williams WITH A TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO GAINESVILLE AND A TWO-RUN SHOT FOR the late lead.
And then Florida came back and won game two 10 to2, but not before hitting Mia Williams another two times in game two.
So that set up a winner take all game three. And you would not believe it, but Mia Williams was plunked for the fifth time in the series in her very first at bat of game three. And then she came up in her second at bat. Texas Tech down four to three. And she hit a two-run home run to take the lead for Texas Tech. And she flipped her bat right in front.
>> Hey, she's a monster. I was not familiar with how good she was. Also, this is actually peak cinema. I mean, hitting the go ahead home run in the first game and then losing the second game and then a winner or take all. You've been hit five times by this count right now and then you hit one of her old teammates faces.

>> She went big fly. Hey, she's cold as hell. That's cold as hell. spots from Williams AND A TWO-RUN SHOT and Texas Tech is back in front and for the second time she leaves the yard that she once patrolled as a Florida Gator.
>> So Texas Tech is talking trash and Florida's talking trash and the parents are going nuts and the parents are fighting back and then Florida's coach gets ejected from the game. A game in which Texas Tech went on to win 16 to7 and advance to the College World Series.
So, they line up to shake hands with Florida, except Florida refuses to shake hands. They just went back into their dugout, which means Texas Tech started celebrating on the field and taunting the dugout, which means their parents started yelling, which means their parents started yelling. And then Florida's pitcher's dad took it to Facebook. Everyone is fighting and finally the dust all settles in time for Jason Williams to go onto the field and give a celebratory speech to Texas Tech, not just for beating his daughter's former school, but his school as well.
And I just told my team coming in this weekend, first of all, that they need to have my back, especially this weekend.
Every other weekend, they have my back, but this one especially, they need to have it. And they did today.

Rooting on the Red Raiders from Texas Tech against the Gator from Florida. Uh yeah, had an eventful weekend. my daughter, my daughter did her thing. The whole team did her thing, but especially proud of my daughter going back to Florida and doing what she did. Um, going through the [ __ ] that she went through this past weekend. Um, if you guys watch the game, you guys know what time it is. Uh, you guys see how them Florida Gator acted at the end of the game. They didn't really want to shake hands. They didn't want to do none of that. Um, the crowd tried to get me uh ejected, this, that, and the third. Uh, some fans hit my youngest daughter with with with some objects. Uh, we were asked if we wanted to press charges.
Nah, we ain't about that. Let that little old lady live, man. She ain't got much longer to go. So, let her go on live.
>> Nah, Jay Will is crazy, >> man. We didn't do nothing to her. She was just mad that the Gator was losing.
And that's cool. That's what she's supposed to be. She's supposed to be mad when the Gator is losing. And she a real fan, but she ain't supposed to be hitting little girls with with with objects and [ __ ] like that. But that's for another day. Look, we moving on to the World Series. We want to do what's right. You know what I'm saying? We were cheering for our team. They were cheering for their teams. Things got out of out of hand. They said some stuff we that they weren't supposed to say. We said some stuff we probably weren't supposed to say. And that's just sports.
That's what time it is. God knows what time it is in between the lines. So, with that all being said, man, I just want everybody to know that I'm happy.
I'm happy we won. You know, I'm a I'm a Florida Gator in my blood. I'm without Florida, I wouldn't be where I'm at today. Um, so like I said, they said some things we they shouldn't have said and we said some things we shouldn't have said. So we're sorry from our side.

So I I'd be, you know, I'm open to suggestions on it, but it's setting up a really unique um battle that I'm really curious about. But I haven't listened to any of these all the way through yet.
I've had them bookmarked for a while. I haven't gotten to them cuz my episodes been going a little bit like closer to the 30 mark. But I've like I'm committed to like stretching these out to like an hour, maybe an hour and a half, and then um starting to do uh like three to four hour streams. And honestly, like this kind of happens and there's like two ways you kind of see it manifest. You see it so you see it with Josh Pate. Josh Pate knows things and like started a show as like a know things show and it was like sharing information or like sharing tidbits like talking about the game with his listeners like they were just like like bros or whatever like they were like at a bar. And the bigger the show got, the more it turned into, well, I have insider information that I can't tell you, but I will drop it as soon as a firing happens to show that I know it or I'll stir up things. Like last coaching cycle, he said, "Can I throw a grenade?"
Lincoln Riley and it's like Lincoln Riley wasn't going anywhere. And so like when they treat information like, "Hey, look what I have." everybody, you know, obsess over what I have instead of like the kind of relationship in terms of a show where it's like I'm just going to share what I know and and you know, let's just discuss these things. Um, you kind of run into like it becomes distasteful. Now, the other side of it is to in defense of like Pates and uh and Stephen A. Smiths, the bigger you get, sometimes when you break contain and you have an audience that trusts you. When you break contain, that audience grows a little bit and people on the outskirts of it are heavy doubters that you know things and that becomes like a shitty place because then when you say something, it's like, oh, who's your source for it? Oh, they don't know anything. And then it invites like people that are fans people that are fans. It invites people that are not fans of your show to be at war with people that are fans of your show because they trust that you know things.
And so then that leads to a lot of noise. And with that noise, it's like, oh, go I don't want to say the [ __ ] that I learn now. And I and I'm I I've been I've went through that. Like I've I've gone through that um like really aggressively gone through that. And honestly, like that's where like sometimes I don't like to share things, but I also like if I don't like to share things, I just feel like I don't know it like at all. So if you have real information about Jason Tatum's feelings about Jaylen Brown, you should report it. If you have real information about the Celtics organization, how they feel about Jaylen Brown that you're just sitting on, yes, you should report it.
The answer is not. Go to the mattresses and escalate. And it makes all of us look bad. And also, here's the other thing. You're the only guy who does it.
Okay, he's not the only guy that does it, but he does do it on a grandio stage. The number one show. There are guys that like like do that, but I guess maybe not threatening athletes.
Threatening athletes is is kind of crazy. Um, so Nick Wright, but here we go. Nick Wright shooting across and Nick Wright is one of the people that is intelligent enough and can dissect you while also giving you a bar after a bar because that's what you need to be, you know, I guess like clipped and like shot and quoted like he can go after Stephen A. Smith. He's he's got the repertoire, the experience, and the media sav uh uh the media savvy and honestly media literacy to really embarrass Stephen A. Smith. I was shocked when Stephen A. Smith took any time to reply because this dog is should be a nofly zone, especially when look, you've been at the top too long, Stephen A. People want to see you fail. People want to see you bleed and they feel like you've been walking around a certain way. So, I was shocked that Stephen A.
Smith responded to this. So, when one of my contemporaries tries to mention me as a mobster, that I'm coming across as a mobster, he knows better.
You can once you figure out who I'm talking about, you can gauge his motives. He should be ashamed of himself, but I'll leave it alone. Unless >> he's kind of doing it again. He should be ashamed of himself, but I'll leave it alone. Also, say his name and let's do it. Let's Let's do it. Let him hang out with his crew and he knows that I know who they are.

Okay. The point that I'm making is is that it's not me being a mobster. It's me highlighting that we all as reporters have access to an abundance of information. whether it's through players, coaches, executives, owners, agents, or even other journalists.
So share it is what Nick Wright is. Nick Wright's point is then share the information.
Y'all got a community of people y'all communicate with as players, past, present, and future. What makes you think journalists don't have that? You think I can't pick up the phone and call a beat writer that used to cover the Washington Wizards? You think I don't know who used to cover the team? The point is, and look, maybe this is a good strategy by Stephen H. The point is it's like Nick Wright is saying, "All right, like you want to act like this, share with everybody. Don't send threats to unveil information. Just give us the information. Or if you're going to send the threats, do it behind closed doors."
A and you know, and and there's no right or wrong answer, I don't think.

Like there's like there's like a handful of guys that like I I I want to be like in that commentary class with and uh and him and Bill Simmons, I think, do a really great job. Stephen Smith um is a little bit broad with commentaryary and I think he's almost too sensationalizing of it. I I do like Bmani. Honestly, my favorite is Bmani Jones. I think Bmani Jones is like the best like sports commentator there is in the space kind of by a wide margin. Um and he's been kind of like in it for a while and I'm not sure like the path for me to like elevate my life and career to like that level, but that is like the path that I'm hopefully trying to follow by like keeping up these signal walls. So that's why like I do appreciate like all your guys' comments and I hope you guys know that like whenever I go into one of these like episodes I try and like want to be like super thoughtful and like want you guys to at least have like a feel like you're having like a personal conversation and not someone like talking down at you generally speaking.
