Football clubs often engage in strategic squad rebuilding by investing significant resources (such as the reported €250 million by Manchester City) to address player departures and maintain competitiveness, with clubs targeting multiple positions (midfield, defense) to ensure balanced team development and prepare for new leadership eras.

Man City News today: Man City approves spending of 250 million euros for 3 new signings追加:
According to fishages, following Pep Guardiola's departure, the Edihad Stadium team is reportedly ready to spend up to €250 million to bring in three notable signings. Elliot Anderson, Nottingham Forest, Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea, and Pedro Porro, Tottenham Hotspur.
This move stems from the risk of City losing several key players. J Stones and Bernardo Silva have confirmed their departures. While the future of names like Ruben Diaz, Jasco Guardial, Rodri, Savinho, and Tajani Rainders remains uncertain.
Therefore, the Man City leadership wants to quickly strengthen the squad to maintain competitiveness in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Among the targets, Elliot Anderson is considered the top priority. The English midfielder has impressed with his abundant energy, wide range of movement, and effective attacking support.
In addition, Enzo Fernandez is also part of the Italian coach's plan to rebuild the midfield. The 2022 World Cup champion is highly regarded for his ability to control the game, distribute the ball, and create breakthroughs from the second line. The fee for the Argentinian midfielder could reach €100 million.
In defense, Pedro Porro is a target to strengthen the right flank. The Spanish defender possesses good attacking support, speed, and top level Premier League experience.
If all three deals are completed, Manchester City will send a strong message that they are ready to enter a new era with Enzo Moresca with the ambition to dominate English and European football once again. Bernardo Silva left Manchester City last week after a trophy laid in 9-year stint in the Premier League and the midfielder is now available on a free transfer this summer. Bernardo Silva wants to join Barcelona this summer despite receiving offers from their La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid and Benfika. It has been claimed the midfielder is available on a bossman transfer after opting to leave Manchester City this summer and has no shortage of admirers across Europe and further a field including MLS clubs. But it appears the 31-year-old is currently leaning towards remaining in Europe with big spending Barcelona emerging as Bernardo's preferred destination.
Barka have already been aggressive in the transfer market since the end of the season, striking a 70 million pound deal to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.
They are also said to be preparing a seismic 87 million pound offer for Julian Alvarez in a bid to prize him away from Atletico.
The Times report that Silva is keen on joining the prospective influx of new arrivals at the new camp with Barka reciprocating that interest.
The former Manchester City captain, who has family in Barcelona, is still understood to be keen on the idea of ending his playing career at Benfika after previously graduating from the club's academy.
However, Silva feels as though he can continue playing at the very highest level for a couple more years and is enticed by the prospect of competing for the Champions League with Barcelona.
The report also notes that even a lower salary offer of around £80,000 a week would not deter Silva from pursuing a move to the ambitious Spanish champions.
Silva's departure alongside that of J Stones and Pep Guardiola marks the end of an era at Manchester City. The playmaker won 16 major trophies at the club after joining from Monaco back in 2017, including the treble in the 2022 to23 campaign.
He made an emotional address to fans after playing his final game in a Manchester City shirt last weekend, saying, "It's really tough to put into words my feeling towards Manchester City, towards you guys, because I don't think I will ever feel the same about another team in my life. The love I got from this club, from you guys. I doubt I will get it again. So, thank you so much. All the memories we have together with my brothers, with you, the staff, this is a family. It will forever be my family and I am really grateful.
Cinho is not helping himself again amid Tottenham's transfer interest, but Manchester City have plenty to think about. Tottenham are interested in signing Manchester City winger Cinho for the second consecutive summer and there will be little love lost if the move does get over the line. The Brazilian winger was hailed as the biggest city football group success story yet when he signed for Pep Guardiola's side from Chua after a successful loan at Jirona.
Yet, it just hasn't worked out. Fans can live with that. It has taken Jeremy Douku and Mataus Nunez into their third year at the club to really impress. And the frustration that Seinho brings on the pitch is mostly because he is almost there. As Guardiola has said for a while, as soon as he gets what he has to do in the final third consistently, the 22-year-old will be a terrific player.
However, that potential has not turned itself into talent yet, and the fact Seeho did not even make the 55man long list for the Brazil squad for the World Cup this summer is damning. Moves to City should result in players becoming more appealing to national team coaches, not less.
Once again, the social media activities of Cainho and his team are not helping either. Last year, while Tottenham were trying to sign him, there were pictures posted on Instagram from the player with suitcases in shot. And this week, his agent posted the pair of them down in London the morning after the parade and then managed to like a post from a journalist reporting interest from Spurs. It is about as subtle as a slap around the chops and not something that plays well with fans or club staff.
Plenty of work in the recruitment team goes into the character of players and indulging in such speculation is not something that is expected of anyone representing City. Having only bought Seeinho for around30 million, City can make their money back and more by selling to Spurs this summer. It is an easy win for Sporting director Hugo Vanna and CFG as long as the money they get for the winger is more valuable than the player he turns into. The outstanding issue though is that even if Seinho is not the answer for City in the final third, who is? If it is a solution of sorts to decide that the Brazilian will not turn into what Enzo Moresca needs and definitely a success to get a significant transfer fee for him, it still leaves the squad one man lighter and in need of somebody new to come and that will only add to the pressure on Vanna and his team to get it right this time.
City do not need to add many players to their squad to make it capable of winning the title next season. Yet, they could end up having to because of outgoings.
After one season of transition because of so many new faces, do the Blues want another? Or if they cannot avoid it, how can they make the best of it? Sevenho could be an interesting case study for how City move on from the Guardiola era with even more eyes on Vanna as the club readies for what looks again to be a pivotal summer for signings.
Atletico Madrid are again looking to strengthen their midfield this summer and sporting director Matu Almani could be set to make more than one move. Los calccanos have already reached an agreement for Wolves midfielder Joel Gomez this summer. Last summer, Alex Bayena and Johnny Cardardoso both arrived at the Metropolitano, but neither had the first season they desired with injuries limiting their impact.
Captain Ko Resurrexion ended up playing a significant role with Pablo Barios also struggling for fitness. In January, Obed Vargas and Rodrigo Mendoza also arrived, albeit more as prospects for the future, including Gomez. Atletico already stand to have six players for the deeper pairing in midfield, although Vargas and Mendoza could be candidates for loan exits this summer. Atletico Madrid open talks with Manchester City for Rangers.
As per Matteo Morto on Radio Mara, Atletico will continue to look for improvements in the midfield area though his information is that Atletico have opened talks with Manchester City for Dutch midfielder to Johnny Raers.
Enzo Moresca will be arriving at the Edihad this summer and Rangers is one of the players that could be allowed to leave. Rangers moved to Manchester City.
After playing a starring role for AC Milan over the course of two seasons, Rangers earned a 54.9 million euro move to Manchester City last summer. He managed seven goals and eight assists in his 47 appearances, but only started around half of those matches, becoming a substitute under Pep Guardiola down the stretch. From midfield, Rainders statistics are impressive though, averaging just under a goal contribution every two games. He would be an addition that compares most closely to Bario's with ability on the ball, but also the capacity to escape pressure and drive forward with the ball at his feet. The 27year-old is in theory coming into the prime of his career too. Before his move to city, Real Madrid were also linked to Rangers.
