Adulterated psychoactive substances, such as the dangerous mixture of ketamine, cocaine, MDMA, caffeine, and procaine found in 'pink cocaine' (tusi), can cause severe vascular complications including thrombosis, arterial blockages, ischemia, and organ damage, potentially leading to ICU admissions and amputations. Health authorities in Medellin, Colombia have issued urgent warnings after detecting 18 poisoning cases since February 24, with 7 requiring intensive care and one patient suffering leg amputation due to critical vascular damage.

🚨 Medellin Health Alert: “Pink Cocaine” Causing ICU Cases & Amputations 😱🩺Added:
Health authorities in Medellin have raised the alarm after detecting an increase in serious cases related to the consumption of tucibi or pink cocaína, a substance that is reportedly circulating in high dangerous mixtures and is already causing patients with severe vascular complications, admissions to intensive care units and even amputations. According to the report issued by the Medellin Health Department, 18 people have been identified as having been poisoned by this adulterated psychoactive substance since February 24th. All of those affected required hospital care and even seven of them had to be treated in intensive care units and receive special care due to the severity of their conditions. One of the most delicate cases ended with the amputation of a leg after the patient developed a critical vascular alteration associated with the consumption of the mixture. One of them required amputation of one of their lower limbs because this substance caused ischemia or vascular damage in his lower limbs. We've therefore activated all the necessary health measures in the Medellin mayor's office.
We have issued an alert to the health institutions, explained Natalia Lopez Delgado.
Figures released by authorities indicate that 14 of those affected reside in Medellin, while two cases correspond to residents of Bello and another two patients in Itagüí. The increase in reported cases led to the activation of epidemiological alerts and risk analysis teams in conjunction with departmental health authorities.
The substance found in the analyzed samples, two of the samples taken from intoxicated patients were examined by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences. The results revealed the presence of ketamine, cocaína, caffeine, MDMA and procaine, a combination that health authorities consider extremely high risk due to its effects on the vascular system and other organs in the body.
Initially, some specialists suspected that levamisole, an anti-parasitic drug frequently used to adulterate cocaína, might be related to the medical complications detected. However, further tests ruled out the presence of that substance in the recent cases.
Nevertheless, doctors and toxicologists are paying special attention to MDMA, a substance that in recent research has been linked to severe cardiovascular problems in frequent users of tusi.
Experts have warned that these adulterated mixtures can cause thrombosis, arterial blockage, damage to heart vessels, and severe alterations in blood circulation. Hospitals and doctors remain on high alert. In response to the increase in cases, the Ministry of Health activated intensified epidemiological surveillance and issued alerts directed to hospitals, clinics, and medical personnel to strengthen the early identification of patients with symptoms related to vascular damage after the consumption of psychoactive substances.
