Goodwill marathon for eBay inventory (Sound issues SORRY)Added:
Hey guys, welcome back to Mod Pop Thrifts. My name is Tom. I'm a full-time eBay reseller and a stay at home dad for my six kids, one of which is Ruby, who is waving hello. We are going to do a marathon of Goodwill today though. We're going to hit four Goodwills. Washington, East Poria University in Pioneer Park.
So, that will be getting inching closer to my house all the time. Uh right now, we drove 16 miles to get here. We're going to keep track of that just cuz it's fun and you know, you got to keep track of it for taxes. Um and we're gonna hit four goods. We're gonna see how much money we spend, how much money we think we can make. And uh have a good time doing it. It's Tuesday. It's raining. There's no garage sales to be had. So, we're just out trying to get some work in.
>> Are you getting me a cart?
>> It's not the last one, silly girl. Let's see what we got going on. Purses >> and diaper bags.
>> So, this is a little bit of a hot mess.
It's hard to see anything. So, I'm trying to go slow, but also it looks like it's all just junk. There doesn't seem to be much to see. Like, even going slow, like I don't see anything worth slowing down for.
They're working and using really loud equipment. So, I might have to do some voiceover or something if I find anything interesting. Or we might just come up a little short on footage at this store.
That's cool. But not branded. It' be hard to sell. But if you had a if you had a guitar to put in, it would be worth messing with probably. That looks Oh, no. It's just cheapy junk. This is cool.
What's good? What's good? What's good?
This is not part of the Twilight series, but it is the same author. And sometimes I'll throw it in with the Twilight series if I come up with that. There's a NASB leatherbound freebie.
This is no banger, but for Disney claim shell VHS, it is like a 50% sell through rate and about $10, maybe $12 free shipping. It's better than most cuz most of that stuff is junk. Back where it goes.
>> Okay. Ready, set, go.
Not noticed this here a second ago, but that hand looks awful familiar.
Celebrate. Walt Disney World. Now it's broken and it's dated.
Looked like they probably were good at some point, but they are pretty worn out. Cabelas. Yeah. Gosh, those are I want to see how Yeah, they're $9.99.
Yeah, that worn out. Souls are completely gone. That's an interesting looking shoe. H Oh, it's a bowling shoe, I think.
I thought these were interesting looking from over there. They're Tony Llama shoes, and they've got $14 on them. And while $14 on some mocktoe loafers seem like a lot, Tony Llamas can be really expensive. So, we're going to put those in the cart and con them. Come back to them in a minute. These are wide base.
These are $7.99. I'm not familiar with Whitten. It feels like Amazon cheap crap. Like the name does. These are actually feel like kind of quality shoes. So, we're going to count those, too. And I'll let you know what we come up with. This looks like something my kid would wear. Nike. Big swoosh on the side. It's not vintage. $5.99.
It's got a hole in the butt.
Um, where did Ruby go? Have you guys seen Ruby? Did she disappear? Peekaboo.
There she is.
I know pumps are rebox, but the way this is like poofy felt like that was pumps.
Nothing interesting in the jeans. Where' Ruby go? Peekaboo.
Peekab-boo.
Where'd she go? Ready, set, peekaboo.
Brooks can do super well, but these look pretty worn out or worn in, especially $15. Gez, no. Thank you. Sketcher deluxe walk. I've sold those before. I don't think I did well enough to pay $10 for them. Haven't touched the Haven't touched these yet. They look like Flour Shine Imperial wing tip. They're $9.99.
They've had replacement uh bottoms put in them. I don't see that they're even actually floor shines. I don't know.
They're not worth getting.
Those are cool. I don't normally focus on shoes, but the clothes are so dreadfully uninteresting that uh I'm focusing on the shoes at the moment.
>> Shoes aren't super interesting either.
There's something interesting in the clothes. These are like honest to goodness uh orthopedic shoes. Sure fit. $7.
Board games. Board games. Board games. I was I had a run there like 3 4 months ago where I was hitting really good board games all the time. Not as much anymore. Vintage animated uh Halloween stuff though. I doubt it works in the box. Oh, the treasure chest is taken off. There's something going on with it.
It's a little broken. Quest $3, though.
It's cool looking. When's it from 1995?
See if we can find anything about it cuz $3. That's probably get even broken. I can probably fix it. Dino checkers. $3.
Now, the seller rate is pretty low.
There's only there's eight listed.
There's only two or three sold, but like people are asking $75. And the one that sold is like 30. And I think the lowest you can buy it for is 30. So, if I put mine for $25 free shipping, it should sell pretty quickly. Assuming that it's all there, I might cut it up to check because I don't want to try to sell parts to a game that's only almost worth getting down here. This Hulk, I was gonna check it out. It is kind of a bolo, but you can see before I even got down there, you can see it's missing a battery pack and there's no remote. And here's a here's a tomism for you. Uh, somebody said that in the comments the other day. Uh, Tomism. Anyway, uh, you we need profits, not projects, and I have too many projects and not enough profits. So, I'm going to I'm going to steer away from that Hulk before I even go down there and comp it. But I think it it used to I'll put some concepts up for you guys. Fault flat ball tornado and it has some kind of timer on it.
This is awesome. It's just laying here on the shelf $2.99. It talks. I don't know if this one talks. It does work. I had this exact same one in my store forever. I remember being horribly disappointed at how poorly it performed.
And that's not to say that it's not worth getting, but for whatever reason, I could not sell mine. I'm going to comp it again and make sure that the market hasn't gone up cuz it's been three or four years. But I remember that was sitting around for a year or two and it ended up selling for like $12.99 free shipping or some craziness. Look at this puppy. That puppy looks vintage.
Something about that looks vintage to me. Um, and plush don't I really like this bear with the angry face, too. Um, something about or plush don't necessarily have to be vintage. There are a lot that they're producing now that are collectible and good, but I don't know the niche well enough. I just know the characters that would be collectible or like panty paws from a new show. See, so there's four listed and zero sold and she would be uh like the only ones that are listed are $25 and higher, but having history with that exact one. Here's some slot cars. We'll see if the slot cars are in there, but I'm going to count the thing before I try to dig it out. R10 is not necessarily a name brand that I know.
So, Dino Checkers was promising, but then I opened it up and while I think all of the pieces were there, as soon as I opened it up, I noticed that the board was broken in half. So, then I was like, it looks like all the pieces are there, but it's not worth counting the pieces when I'm not going to buy it because the board is broken in half. Imagine the worst Christmas wreath that you could think of. Got that in your mind? Is this what it looks like? Holy cow. This looks like somebody made it really gross and then put it in the washing machine and it got destroyed. That is the worst looking Christmas decoration I've ever seen.
So, the shoes ended up being nothing.
Um, everything so far has ended up being nothing. Uh, not having a great day so far. That is a 96 reissue of X-Wing Luke. That's not vintage.
Um, I mean, technically, I suppose it is vintage, but when I say vintage Star Wars action figures, you're not thinking of the 96 reissues that are now 30 years old. You're thinking of the really old '7s and '8s ones that are the original, right?
Of course. Right.
So, I literally already went through the checkout and I'm almost to the door and I noticed this basket of sunglasses. And well, in that basket of sunglasses are these by the Dwayne the Rock Johnson sunglasses from 2001 for $1.99. So, we spent an hour in that store. We spent like $14, but that wasn't all resale stuff. We bought more to not sell than to resell. So, we spent $2 on glasses, $2 on that uh pirate.
Maybe it's $3 on the pirate and $2 on the uh uh video the Mickey Mouse video.
So, what was it? three, five, $7 on resale stuff. And I don't begin to know what I think we're going to get out of this thing. We were in that last store for an hour. Took us about 20 minutes to drive down here. And we were and we're eight miles farther, closer to home essentially. Um I'm going to try and cut down the amount of time that it takes, but we made some pretty good money.
We're going to get in and out of here as quick as we can, but we're going to find some stuff to make money. Let's get to it.
Okay, so there was a new cart when we came out of the bathroom. The only thing that was interesting on it was this turntable. But as it turns out, as I suspected, it needs records to function, and it doesn't have any, so I don't think it's going to be worth getting.
This guy's got new clothes coming out. I don't see anything interesting right off in here. This is I think Studio Nova very 90s. Oh, >> those are plates. Code 9 means I need a manager to come to a price.
>> Sometimes I find good stuff here. Won't see anything interesting right off the bat.
Yeah, nothing I'm going to look any further into there.
We're not doing super well on our Goodwill Marathon across central Illinois.
Those juicers can do well. I actually have one in my store doing a box right now and I'm asking $100 for it. Um, they got $15 on it and it's just not worth flipping at that price. Some used to be able to part them out really well.
But um, thought for a second those were going to be those. I don't see the Pirates of the Caribbean $40 uh, DVD player. So, somebody must have bought that. It is really cool, but I couldn't justify spending $40 on it. Um, toys are pretty stant >> and not impressive.
>> You want this purple truck? Whose purple truck is that?
Whoa. That's throwing other stuff at you, too.
Board games and stuff are looking nice.
They're organized and whatever. Um, I don't see any that I need to buy, >> but I'm going to stand here and look while she looks at toys, and I'll let you know if I see anything interesting.
I have never completely struck out at this store. So, I'm not giving up yet, but so far I'm not finding anything worth finding. And then, uh, that's kind of discouraging, but a lot of times I used to say on video all the time, oh man, I'm not finding anything. You might find some banger. And we found a pair of sunglasses that might be 100 bucks. So, not a bad day, even if I did leave here empty-handed, but I really don't want to. I want to find some more bangers. I don't exactly know what I just stumbled on to. 2016 Harley-Davidson super smart battery tender. And there's another battery tender. Now, here's another maintenance 12 volt. So, are these for plugging your Harley in while you're like when you're not using as much in the winter and making sure the battery doesn't out? If so, three of them in a bag for five bucks. Exactly. Um, so that's the entire haul right there.
Harley-Davidson. This should be 30 $35 free shipping. Um, then there's two more and I don't know if they're they're Delray Battery Tender Jr.
I left the first time because it was the grand opening with hundreds of dollars in profit. And most of the time I leave with like $30, $35 in profit from this place. And today was no different. The last time we did really well. Um, and the time before that we did really well.
Then normally I find at least enough stuff to make it worth coming back. But so we were in there for almost an hour and we only found three items in one bag. One item to buy. We'll end up in three listings. We got to do faster or better or something. Let's get to the next place. My health fell asleep. We are at the next Goodwill and we're at 14 and 1/2 miles when we were 8 miles when we left the other one. So that puts us at 6 and 12 miles to this store and uh it is currently 11:30 when we get in here. It will be anyway couple minutes.
Um so we are 2 and 1 half hours into this and I don't think we're doing very well. So we're going to keep trying. We got at least one more goodwill to hit.
We got one more goodwill to hit after this and then we're going to be done. Uh let's let's go see if we can uh make up some ground.
You want to wave?
I like the colors.
>> Those are fun. $15 a piece. Razor flashback.
Luxury travel blanket. $15. Feels cheap for that. Especially if it's not like branded anything besides luxury travel blanket.
That dumbo looks Maybe it's not. I was going to say it looks vintage. It's not.
That is really high quality. Actually, it's fairly new.
$3. Sometimes these do really well. And this one's bright colors and cool.
Three bucks. We'll put that in the cart and find out. What else is there?
Not that I'm here. I mean, it kind of looks Kate Spadey, but I bet it's not.
And even if it were, it's too beat up to be worth anything.
>> I don't like that.
>> You don't like this thing?
>> We put it in the back.
talking Bubba. Get in wet Bubba. This is from a line called called Mad Talk Bubba or something. I don't remember. It's 1998 for three bucks. We're gonna put that in the cart and find out in a little bit.
Giant Garfield head. Some vintage Garfield plushes can do well. This is $6. That looks like it probably was either handmade or cut off of something else. I'm not going to mess with it.
I'll let you know if I come up with anything else interesting right here.
$3.99. The Sour Patch Kids thing is cool, but I don't know if it's good enough to buy for $3.99.
Board games.
Nothing. It doesn't look like there's even anything new, let alone anything good. New as in I didn't see it the last time I was here four or five days ago.
So far, we have a whole bunch of stuff in our cart, but I just saw something that is super interesting. That is might be Arthur Yumov. And the way to know, I don't think it is. I think it's not, is how many slats? There should be nine. 1 2 3 4 7 8 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 But it is a nice knuckle because it is actual rod iron. Oh, it's not round iron. It's like square, but it's not tubes. So, Arthur Yumov slat stool. If it had nine slabs and had round tube steel, like solid round steel, not tube steel and not square stuff like that. Those are really, really good. This knockoff, if there was a pair of them, they were 10 bucks a piece, I'd probably try to do like a local flip for I don't know I'd be $25 into them. They have to justify they have to do like 50 or 60.
I am finding quite a bit of vintage in here today. Like somebody donated a bunch of older stuff.
>> So maybe we'll find something really good.
the toys.
>> So, there's a whole bunch of these and there's none sold, but I think I might grab them all anyway, >> but she just came out of the back with that cart of stuff. So, I'm going to put that aside cuz if I miss out on it, ain't going to break my heart anyway.
But it is cool to find 1994 dead stock tool toys and some bulk missing out on much over here. Mr. Potato Head. That is Doc McStuffins for sure down there.
What is this? Like a light bulb holder.
Mr. Potato Head Hudson candle and light.
Not seeing anything that's worth shattering over here. So, this is not terrible. $13 is a really good price for that, especially if you're going to use it. Um, but there aren't very many. So, sell through rate is pretty low. So, I'm going to try to So, I think I think we're going to leave that behind and go back over there and see what's up with those. See if I can convince myself one way or the other on those rental tunnels. Speeders one in my cart three times. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9.
This looks interesting from a distance.
$5.99. Oh, it's lightweight. Sony CD player. Pull. Oh, that's for your gen one iPod.
Chuck that back away. Micro. Oh, there it is. MX500i.
So, this is a stadium giveaway.
Coca-Cola Frank Thomas melanar. It's $2.99 and it doesn't seem like it's worth buying. surprised it. It's a high quality hat and it's cool, but uh there's only one listed once sold. This one I'm going to look up Londard of Lond, but anything that says I own a boat generally sells for good. So, I think we're putting it all back. Like these I'm really on the fence on. These are awesome. They're new in the box from 1994. And there's nine of them and they're $3 a piece, but there's no sales record. This is the only thing that actually pans out to be worth getting.
Uh the getting wet Bubba wasn't any good. This thing that's listed all over the place for $24. Only one has sold for $20. The rest like this I picked up off a new cart, but the star is broken off.
And uh I think this is probably worth getting too, but it doesn't have a price on it. So uh these this is a control for a heated mattress. This thing does not work, so I don't want to get it. Whole bunch of nothing. So just a saddle and a hat. $4. They were both $1.99. probably both going to be $20 plus shipping. So, like maybe $30 profit. And now it's 12:30, so we're in there for about an hour, too.
>> One more.
One more Goodwill. Hi. Yeah. Are you ready to go home and see Mavis?
Okay, we got one more Goodwill. Okay.
What is that?
>> Mickey Mouse.
>> Mickey Mouse.
>> Yeah.
>> Sorcerer Mickey.
>> I'll put up some comps on a $3 Sorcerer Mickey, but it's going to be not for sale. My wife loves Sorcerer Mickey.
It's kind of her favorite Disney jam.
So, there's a Pizzazz. We just sold one of those, but it didn't have the tray, so it didn't do as well as I hoped. 10 bucks. I'm going put it in the cart.
These sell really, really well, but not super high prices. Maybe I'll try to put a better price on that. You just me or that look like a swastika? Cuz that looks like a swastika.
Yikes.
What is this white vacuum down here?
Shark.
That's weird. I'm not at all familiar with that.
Naked Barbies.
Oh, those are cool. Those might be worth buying. Those are cabinet hinges and silverware, but it's not very much. And I don't exactly know what these are.
H creative. I don't think that's a very good brand. They look like they're probably uh computer speakers. This fan I have done reasonably well with this exact same fan from like t the season and all that jazz too. The um Oh, this is that weird European brand. That steamer thing, I think.
>> I need to look more into that shark cuz I don't know anything about it. And it looks like it's complicated and has parts of it. Anybody need a walk? Couple of West Man walks here for six bucks a piece. Something's missing the handle. Oh, this one is new now. Thanks. These headphones seem interesting. Oh, look at that.
That's worth buying for five bucks.
And this has a wireless part. Six bucks.
We'll look into those. This little fridge said Five Guys on it. So, it's an advertisement piece. The handle is broken thing.
$5.99.
Good grief. The handle is actually functional right now.
>> Yeah. Dang. We buy these every time.
They sell for like 50 bucks. They cost like 25 to ship. So, but you buy them for two bucks. $2.99. Vintage Iowa State Cyclones bench seats. I don't know if those are worth picking up or not.
I don't see anything over here. This is the toys.
>> I don't really see anything on this side of the toys. There's more toys over there by the ladies underwear. See, it's weird. It's ladies underwear and toys.
Seems like an odd combination to me.
This is an interesting grab bag because it's all from the uh same show, the uh Kung Fu Panda. And so for $3, you just lot them all together. So I looked through all the bags over there and all I found was Kung Fu Panda. I don't see anything interesting in the plush, so we're going to move on to board games and stuff. Let me know if you see something I should buy. I'm not seeing anything initially.
Dude, I almost walked right by this. I did at least once.
It's pretty incomplete.
It's definitely vintage GI Joe. There's been a Goodwill before with that sticker.
I don't see a date on it. Parasite.
I don't know anything about these. Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories One, four, and three, but the comp seem ridiculous. So, we got all of this stuff here. Holy cow.
And Ruby got a book. And people, this is the one that's right by my house. This is a 5minute drive for me, this store.
And people often say, "Oh, you need to go to Tanton or you need to go to the one where we started at this morning, Washington, or how come you don't drive to BF to go to this thrift store that I always do really well at?" Like, we went to three thrift stores in two three counties. Maybe it was just two. Anyway, and this is the store that performed.
And it was later in the day. It's like 1:30 at this point. Like, and we we just do better at this store, so I stay close. Hey, stay with dad. All right.
Thanks for watching, liking, commenting, subscribing, following, clicking the bell. Wait, let's go back to the van for a minute and I'll tell you what the mileage is, what we put on the van all day. We've been gone for hours and hours and hours. So, we're about 3 mi from my house. And so, that would put us at right at 30 mi round trip for the day.
And uh this one that is 3 mi from my house outperformed everything else by a long shot. I think we're going to make some pretty darn good money. Uh and uh own the things that we bought here. It took us all day to get to from Washington to East Boria to the University Store, which is just a couple miles down the road. This one and then home. We're going to go eat some lunch.
We got to go pick up Eddie and Caleb.
Thanks for watching. Thanks for liking, commenting, subscribing, following, clicking the bell, hiking the video, and all the things that you do. We'll see you on the next one. Tonight.
